Everything was locked the temple and the pond. Due to covid restrictions, and was very over crowded, no management

Kushavart is a major pilgrimage site at Trimbakeshwar in Nashik district of Maharashtra . The river Godavari is believed to have originated from its source in the Kushavarta Kunda. It was named Kushavarta after the sage Gautam built a dam of Kusha and blocked the water of Godavari here. This tank is built on all four sides.There are temples like Ganga Mandir, Indreshwar, Gayatri, Ballaleshwar etc. near this shrine.

Tryambakeshwar it is one of the holiest place. Where the Lord Shiva lives. I visited the place last month with my mom and grandma. The palace is very nice . I loved the place. I loved the peace and I loved the peoples over there. I will recommend you to kindly visit the place. The name itself is of a jyotirling that is tryambakeshwar. It is said to be the place from where sacred river Godavari remerges after disappearing at Bramhagiri hills, and hence the superior holiness of this Tirtha.

Its a very beautiful and historical place...had Amazing time with my brothers....here people are so co-ordinative....they will help u in all aspects....lots of people coming from different district and region...the around area and Mountains are too beautiful....the maximum people should visit this place...i enjoy too much and like to visit again.

As per the religious scripts Kushavrata Kund is a place where during Sagar manthan a drop of amrit fell into the kund and made it forever an auspicious place to wash away ones negative karmic energies and attain well being. Though there are pumps to filter the water, the huge number of devotees who come here to take a dip in the pond renders the water not so clean. The temple surrounding the pond is an architectural masterpiece and worth seeing.

The point of Godavari River origination, Kushavarta Kund is a sacred bathing place that is close to the Trimbakeshwar temple. Taking a holy dip in the Kushavarta kund as legends says it can wipe off sin. Cemented pavements on the edges of the pond were built by Shreemant Rao Sahib Parnekar. It has six corners, which gives this place another name - Teerthraj. And on every corner, there is a temple. Temple of Kedareshwar Mahadev is on the Southeast corner. Kushavart is known as the symbolic origin of the River Godavari. It is from this Kushavart that the river Godavari flows up to the sea. There are temples at the four corners of Kushavart.

Unfortunately this auspicious place is abused by people by making it dirty forever!Just look at the photo and you will realize what people have done to this historical place.The temple gains so much amount of money from people but looks like not utilizing funds to keep the village and such places clean.I was so disturbed looking at this place, but went there only since my mother wanted!

Kushavart kund (lack) is holy black for hindu people according to local people godavari river first flow come out in kushawart then rever flow next.. godavari river is originated in tryambakeshwar which also known as south ganga. Every visitor never forget to get bath in holy lack.This lack situated in the center of the town, bike and car not allow here cause of lack of parking place, this place also known for best example of ancient art work on walls and pillars.

This holy kund called तीर्थ कुषावर्थ is comparatively where clean than other places. Nothing is allowed to be thrown on the kund. No flowers, no diya, nothing. Infact the bhakts are also not allowed to take bath into the kund.Buckets are provided there where we can only take water and have bath near the kund. But I personally find it clean. 2-3 municipal peple are there to restrict people going into the kund, or thorwing pooja material in it or either washing clothes. They do their job well by continuosly monitoring the kund and instructing people over the mic.

This is a place where you will get auto rechargeable water level which is by Godavari river. People around this place are very fond of having take bath here and like to light a Deepak here. In this Kund a temple of God Vishnu is also here so dont forget to visit. Women can also take bath here and the trust provides her a separate room for changing.

Amazing place to feel the spiritual values. One should once in a life time be there to feel its spirituality and if atheist then also visit to get to know the history of architecture and danamo of the buildings!

Kushavarta Kund is world class temple built in the 18th Century by the Peshwa.It is the source of the Holy river Godavari as it begins from there.The beautiful Kushavarta Kund constructed around it and irrespective of the footfall it holds itself amazingly well and the entire village.The devotees have a bath in this river and then proceed for Darshan to the Trambakeshwar Temple.

This is a religious place situated in Trambakehswar, near Mahadev temple. People believe in taking bath here as it heals skin diseases as it is a holy water. People take bath in it before entering into temple, also offer a lamp and flowers. Due to all this rituals the water of the kund is now very much spoiled, i doubt any holy qualities are still present!

There is an interesting account explaining the significance of the place. Sage Gautam once committed a sin of killing a cow. As an act of repentance, He performed penance at the peaks of the Brahmagiri Mountains, appeased Lord Shiva and asked for the Ganga waters so that he could wipe off his sin. Pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva jerked His big locks of matted hairs on the Brahmagiri Mountains and sent Ganga down onto the earth. Today that place is known as Gangadwar, situated half way to the Brahmagiri Mountains. There is a temple of Ganga, now known as Godavari River. Ganga appears first time here, after which it vanishes.But the flow of the Ganges was tremendous due to which the sage could not bathe in her waters. He then surrounded the river with Kusha, a type of grass and put a stop to her flow.  After bathing here his sin of killing a cow was finally wiped off. The tirth (pilgrimage) came to be known as Kushavart.Thus today, Kushavart is known as the symbolic origin of the RiverGodavari. It is from this Kushavart that the river Godavari flows up to the sea. There are temples at the four corners of Kushavart.

Sacred Place, Requires Proper Maintenance, As people take holy bath water should be more clean, Historic Place related to Saint Gautam , Ganga & Godavari River, changing room for female devotees also requires makeover, provision for pre shower or cleansing before taking holy dip will help in keeping Kund clean

Kushavart Tirtha is located in the center of Trimbakeshwar city near the Jyotirlinga temple on Sri Trimbak. Kushavart Tirtha, a 21 feet deep natural spring, was built in 1750. Some people believe that the river Godavari appeared in this place after it disappeared from the Brahmagiri mountain. Devotees follow the tradition of bathing in this Kushavarta first and then visiting the Trimbakeshwar temple. There are springs of living water below Kushavarta and the river flows from the source of Godavari to Kushavarta and turns further. There are 15 stone steps on all four sides to get inside.
