Visited Khao San Road one Friday night. We were seated right away (got a table inside since it was a bit windy outdoors). We ordered the squash fritters as an appetizer and it was very delicious. I ordered the Green Curry (with mild spice) which came with a side of rice - and honestly it was probably one of the best curries I’ve had in the city. Portion size of the food was really good for what we paid. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant was very clean and had a very nice vibe. Would definitely recommend! & I plan on coming back here more often.

Had date night and ordered pad Thai and the m. Curry (cant spell the name). Very good! I dont like coconut normally and found it still very delicious. You can still taste the coconut though, so be warned. Pad Thai is always delicious. The Thai iced tea was on the sweet side but we loved it. Overall, the meal was great and so glad they had room to take us last minute considering it was busy everywhere that day.

I came here with my co-workers for lunch on a weekday. The restaurant checked our vaccine passports and it wasnt too busy, although the food did take a while.I got the Bangkok style pad Thai with shrimp which was delicious. There was a generous amount of shrimp in it and the portion size was pretty decent. I packed 1/3 of of because I needed to go back to the office and do work. I probably couldve finished the whole thing but it wouldve put me to sleep. The only thing missing was a bit of spice. I chose mild because I didnt know how spicy spicy was but my coworker got a level three with her meal and said it was manageable.I will definitely be back for sure! Next time I will get the Khao Soi!

I’m so happy after going to Khao San Road last night. The actual restaurant was comfortable and not noisy, very enjoyable for a night out with friends. The food was by far my best Thai experience in Toronto and they give you spice level options in case you don’t like spice that much. I ordered the yellow curry at level 3 and it was just the right amount of spice. Out of all the dishes we ordered, the yellow and green curry were our favorites. We also loved the Thai beer they offer on the menu. Really good! 10/10 would recommend

I lived in Thailand for 8 years and can say it’s very difficult to find places in Canada that actually do authentic Thai food. Khao san hits it bang on. The spice is where it needs to be, the ingredients are fresh and the service is wonderful. I ordered the khao soi, it was amazing. Exactly like you get in Chiang Mai.The vibe and atmosphere of the place is great. Definitely get a spot inside. We went for lunch on Saturday and there was no line up. Ordered over the phone. Servers were friendly and efficient. Ordered three flavours chicken pad Thai, shrimp green curry fried rice, garlic chicken, and a side of extra rice.Pad Thai wasnt very good. Not enough tamarind, spice was weak for a medium, and the chicken was very dry. Shrimp green curry fried rice (medium spicy) was very spicy compared to the medium spicy pad Thai. The shrimp tasted and smelled like raw sewage.Garlic chicken was very dry.Side of rice and the rice in the fried rice was overcooked and mushy.Delivery and food ready to go was stacked up on the pickup counter. The manager was telling the staff not to do that though.Would not order from here again.

The only thing I did not like was the bar stools. I find those uncomfortable most times and thats all that was left for seating as they do not take reservations and fill up fast. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I am not the one to write reviews but I would like to share my bad experience with the staff. I love Thai food and my friends and I were excited to visit the restaurant based on the amazing reviews. First off, the staff were clueless and let other families in before us even though we arrived earlier. Secondly, they wouldnt get us seated because we were waiting for 1 other friend who was running 15 minutes late, even though there were plenty of unserved, available seats. Whatever, its COVID so we were understanding. When it was time to pay, there was a glitch in their machine and the server charged me double because he said the first payment accidentally got refunded to my card. I believed him and paid double the amount for my meal (and also double the tip). When I checked my bank account the next day, there was no refund and they charged me $50 for 1 red curry! I had to repeatedly call and email them but the staff completely ignored me. I had to chase them for 5 days - day and night - to receive some sort of response. This was extremely stressful and time consuming since I have exams going on.Lastly, the food gave both my friend and I terrible stomach aches right away but the management refused to do anything about it. I wasnt looking for a compensation but an apology for the food poisoning and incorrect charge wouldve been nice. The staff and management were rude and unhelpful. My friends and I will never go to this place again due to the horrible customer service.

Bait and switch beware! I arrived at this restaurant at 9 PM and asked for table for 2 on the curbside. They said sure, it will be a 30 minute wait and they close at 9.45 so please have an idea of what youd like. I was a bit skeptical of taking up their offer since last minute rushes dont do well. Still, as I was hungry I took up their offer and waited. At 9.30 they said your table is ready but its inside. I was like wait whyd you tell me that you will have a table outside and now you want me to sit inside. I am not comfortable eating indoors currently due to Covid and you have a table empty outside. They were like nope, even though others are eating there we have to close at 9.45 so we cant seat you outside. This really left a poor experience and wasted my time and their own time. I will not be back. You could have told me at the outset that at 9.30 we will not be able to seat you outside and couldve spared us both the trouble of waiting.

Unimpressed. This restaurant is one of the known places in downtown Toronto for Thai food but I feel like its been overrated. Food here is decent but not the best. I was expecting more from such a high rated restaurant. Customer Service is horrible. Youll spend most of your time waiting for the bill...Ive tried the 3 flavour pad Thai with beef here. The pad Thai was extremely sweet. They overdosed on too much sauce. The beef was really tough. It smelt really good but flavour wise the flavour was not much different from any other Thai place.I also tried the red curry here. Im not sure if the curry was supposed to be that watery. But it was like liquid. I just expected the consistency to be a little thicker like other places. Flavour wasnt as strong either and a little on the sweeter side. There was little chicken and it was dry. As for the rice, the rice was undercooked and really hard even when you soak it in the curry.Lastly, the Thai iced tea is really good. The drink was thick and strong. Full of tea flavour.Note: if you order the drink with no ice, they give you a smaller cup.Overall, food was not worth the wait. Decent but could do better. As for customer service it is horrible. Waiting for a table took a while, then waiting for food, then waiting for the bill. The bill took like 20 minutes to come. I had my credit card out and ready to pay already and the waiter just gives me the bill and walks away to do other stuff. She could clearly tell I was ready to pay too.... like really? I was standing up, all packed and everything too. Didnt cash me out until another 10 minutes. Now I see why theres always a wait. Because the waiters drag time when cashing out the bills.P.S. Theres a bar upstairs while you wait. They serve different appetizers and drinks. We tried the skewer, they were delicious. The pork skewer, the meat was tender and juicy. The chicken skewers was not overcooked and also really juicy and flavourful. This apparently was made by a different chef. The flavours of the food were strong and not as sweet as downstairs.

If what you want is a Toronto style Thai food restaurant, like the mass majority of other Thai spots and Asian food in general, then pass on this place. Toronto is usually such a huge disappointment when it comes to Asian food.Ive spent a fair amount of time in Thailand in my life. So I have a decent amount of experience eating Thai food from its source.Their Bangkok style pad Thai is some of the best Ive ever had. It is prepared exactly how a good Bangkok restaurant would serve it. I got it Thai spicy, but I have to say it was a bit less spicy than expected. Toronto Pad Thai usually turns out to be way overloaded with the tamarind sauce and will be a bright orange in colour. Not here. Perfect balance of tamarind and other spices.Their yellow curry chicken was also excellent.I def wanna check it out again and try their other dishes.

She said the fish sauce basically overpowered everything else.I wonder why its so busy on an early weeknight... Im not planning to go back, even for their lunch specials. Unless youre ready to spend almost 20$ for just an entree, dont go there because it isnt very budget friendly. It was also very hard to speak to my friends without straining my vocal chords because it was so loud. For anyone who likes noisy restaurants and expensive foods taken with alcoholic drinks, this is the place for you.

Khao San Road has a similar vibe to the other popular Thai restaurant, PAI. That includes the long wait times, especially during regular meal times. We got back at 5:03pm (not kidding) and the wait line began to form down the street. It’s like they magically appeared. The fresh rolls were really delicious. The squash frites were interesting but don’t think I’ll have them again. They were good for a one time thing. Pad Thai was awesome (got caught up in the moment and forgot to take a pic!). The dishes were wayyy too salty, felt like the chef accidentally knocked over the spice tray while preparing the food. However, my friend also complained to me her dish is too salty, so I think it’s a constant theme. The flavour is good but nothing outstanding, since they used too much spice and oil, I couldn’t finish the dish even though it is not big. If you have big group over 8 people, then beware that they add 20% service fee. So, check your bill and dont retip 😁

Great food but the location is too cramped. Also the bar is upstairs and not easy for anyone in a wheelchair or unable to climb stairs. You cannot order drinks at the restaurant so have to go upstairs and settle your bill upstairs and then bring them down. Bathrooms were individual stalls and very clean. I would say they really need to expand and improve their seating. There was no space for my bag or my jacket and the table was super cramped. Almost felt like we had to rush because people were waiting to get a seat. Service is great. Would I return? Probably on a day when I expect it to be less busy. Also, they dont take reservations! So please keep this in mind. And they require that everyone sitting at a table be there together. If one person shows up before the rest or remaining party, you wont get the table and have to wait. Again... Because theyre cramped for space.
