This place is also called Little India. This place is spread across less than 500 meters and on both sides of the streets. This place is especially for South Asians and particularly for Indian diaspora. This place is also for those who would like to try South Asian [Indian] cuisine and are interested in Indian attire. You will find everything here that is usually a part of Indian kitchen. You can easily find very good [Indian] wedding dresses as well.I went there especially for shopping for the upcoming Diwali Festival. I could find nearly everything that I was looking for. When I went there, it was not much crowded. All the people as well as the stores were adhering to the social distancing and physical distancing guidelines and protocols. In fact, in one of the grocery stores that I went to, despite its size, did not allow more than 10 shoppers at a time.Pro Tip: This market is not spread across a huge area. However, most of the regular household items are available in multiple stores. Before buying an item, be sure to check it out at multiple stores. There are chances that you will find a better deal with almost all of the items.

The Gerrard India Bazaar is like being in India. Every store either sells authentic Indian food or saris. Honestly, I think a little more variety would be nice. Store owners need to be a little more imaginative and honest about what theyre selling: hamburgers are made from meet, not veggies! The whole area needs some TLC.

This area needs a revamp. The shops and restaurants are old, many have been closed too. They are out dated. Even the actual India is a lot more modern and beautiful than this street (at least the major tier 1 cities). And more importantly they should work on the hygiene part, together as a community.

Terrible attitude from staff because I want an Indian from India. I got sweet paan and instead of him making me a fresh one he just gave me one that was already made and it takes like an Indian train track. Fun to walk on Gerrard St. at this end of town (in the east end between Coxwell and Glenside Aves.), especially during the summer months. So many little restaurants to try, and theres always someone selling delicious roasted corn on the street in front of their shop. For one weekend every summer (July 13th and 14th this year, 2019 - see photos below from Saturday, July 13th), the street shuts down to traffic and its pedestrians only - just like Taste of the Danforth only Indian style! So many colours and so many aromas...!

Its a beautiful area on Gerrard Street, between Coxwell and Greenwood Avenues, in Torontos East End. One can walk through it without stopping, in thirty minutes. There are restaurants offering Indian, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and South Indian or Sri Lankan cuisine. There are green grocers and jewellery shops close to each other. The streets are safe and free of violence and petty crimes. Kudos to The Toronto Bobbies ( Police ) for keeping it that way.Theres only one vinyl,CDs and MP3s shop selling Bollywood items. They are supposed to be open from Noon onwards, every day, but on the Friday Noon of my visit, they were inexplicably closed. They dont have contemporary Punjabi Singers like Jasmine Sandlas and Garry Sandhu. Unbelievable! There are two diners opposite each other at the junction of Coxwell Avenue and Gerrard Street. One is unmistakably English with a French flavour. Both serve excellent breakfast and offer good VFM ( Value for Money ). Enjoy your visit. Cheers Mates! Spend a bob or two here. Its worth it! This place needs URGENT CARE!

Being from Nova Scotia, I had never experienced anything like the Indian bazaar. I wanted to take lots of pictures, but noticed signs saying not to and I assumed it was because people might try to copy the exquisite designs. I did ask one clerk and he said that that was the reason. In Nova Scotia, we have very few restaurants with Indian food and I was excited to have some food, but had very limited time, so I chose to try things I had never had before. One was a creamy drink made with rose water and it was most delicious. One thing that I wondered about was why so many shops were closed when I arrived around 11 a.m. A clerk told me that it is better to go later in the day and that if I were there in the evening I would be able to enjoy live music and stores that stay open late. I do hope to be able to go and enjoy that should I ever be in Toronto again.
