This is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. I had takeout from there this evening and the first bite was like that scene in Ratatouille where Peter OTooles character takes a bite of the ratatouille and is overcome with joy. The prices are very reasonable. I went with a large group in 2019 and the Aroma staff did an excellent job accommodating the entire group with such grace and friendliness that many of those who went there for the first time that evening have now also become repeat customers.
The food so very delicious 🤤 one of the clean, fresh and delicious Indian food I found in downtown. I have done many times uber eat and also dine in. Never disappointed. The place is quite and very clean with a background nice music it brings you nice vibes and surly fine dine in experience!Excellent customer service. Totally recommend.
Ordered: Seekeh kebab, chicken tikka, butter kitchen (good creamy more sweet) lamb vindaloo (good and spicy),Would come again if downtown, service great and quick
Amazing ambiance, delicious , unique tasty food. We came from Surrey BC and can say this dining experience is at the top!!!
Excellent food. Would have loved more if they included the noon closing time in the maps.
The food is so good, the best you can have in downtown!! The only downside is the portion size is small. Do try it’s biryani 🍛🍚
What a great Indian restaurant! A pleasant surprise, especially for the Saturday lunch buffet (for $15 pp). Staff maybe a bit cold, but this is a great place in a great location, with a wide selection of authentic Indian foods that are well done. ADVICE: MAKE A RESERVATION! (We didnt and it wasnt that long a wait, but we were lucky cause there were 2 of us). If youre seeing a show give yourself at least an hour to eat there. Cheers!
Good food but a little lacking on spice (flavour, not the heat) and salt. Expensive for the portion size!My partner found a staple in her food which we reported to UberEats!
I visited this place to try their lunch buffet on a weekday. First of all when we reached, the place was too crowded and we had to wait to get a seat. I would say that waiting there wasn’t worth at all. First of all, I believe they are overutilizing the place. All the tables and chairs are narrowly placed. Now, coming to the food. In Vegetarian, there were 2 appetizers (Samosa and Mix Veg Pakora), 5 Curries ( Gobi, Matar Paneer, Beans, Dal Makhani, Eggplant), Saffron Rice, Naan and 3 Desserts (Kheer, Gulab Jamun & Ice Creams). Apart from Dal Makhani, nothing stood out for me. Everything tasted average or below than average. The curries lacked flavors and spices. They all tasted very bland. The only thing that is good is you can try multiple options at a decent rate.
My goto indian restaurant in town. Great food at a reasonable price but their operations is not the best in terms of getting the food ready on time.
Not sure if its due to this pandemic situation but i didnt like the food. Have ordered tandoori prawns and there is no taste in it.. Ordered long island iced tea and it doesnt have the taste of tequila or vodka.. There are merely 4 people and still service is too slow... Based on previous experience giving 3 star...Visited recently and got the same service, same tasteless food and worst long island iced tea. Will not visit again.
Very fine and pleasant service by them. Staff is friendly too. They give us 25% discount last time.
I had high expectations coming in to try this place out because it was recommended by a couple of friends. However that was not to be the case, and I came out disappointed. The level of service and dining experience we received was lamentable.Upon going into the dining area at the 2nd level of the building, there was no receptionist or personnel to welcome me and my companion to our seats. Sitting down at our table there was also no one to come to us / greet us / ask how many we are dining for todays meal / mention to us about the days buffet offerings or whatever the days special was, or ask us if we would want to order drinks --- standard operating procedure that are to be expected in a food establishment.During meal time we already had finished our 1st plate, but we were still not served the customary glass of water. We had to go out of our way to ask the waiter for some. Water refilling was also not routine. Requests had to come from us for the refill. It was only for our last glass of water that they seemed to voluntarily serve us some.I must also mention it is the same thing with asking for napkins. Eating Indian food one is using ones hand, so hands need to be clean prior and hands will be dirtied during and after. There were no napkins initially available at the table. After my first round eating I had to wipe my hands clean. I asked for napkins, but it took time so I just used the small folded white plate cloth for the meantime to clean my hands. Then some time later I had to follow-up a couple more times about the napkins before it finally came. In this place the washrooms are also upstairs so I had to go all the way up one level to wash my hands clean. Such an inconvenience for just trying to tidy up.Talking about food, I appreciated how the Chicken Tikka was presented. Other than that, taste was nothing special for me. There were not as many food options available compared to other Indian buffets I have tried. The naan section was also not regularly replenished. I got to experience moments when I was up to get food, but the naan tray was empty. There were also a couple of naans me and my companion got to get which were not warm enough or firm enough. The last gripe I have is the taste of the food. It is not actually spicy at all (In other cases, that may be fine with me biologically/physiologically because I do have a low tolerance for hot & spicy food). I do understand that this may be intentionally toned down to accommodate a more diverse clientele, however this move does break away from the immersion of being able to sample authentic Indian dishes. It is perfectly understandable that food places do have their off days where they dont tick everything in the box, but to have these many different blunders happen all together during a lunch meal is really disappointing. The fact that I did enjoy going back and back again for the butter chicken, and the good time I was having with my companion saved the whole dining experience for me.
Expensive as with all King street restaurants but quality was good and portions generous. I ordered a lamb biryani which had a good amounts of lamb chunks in it. Although meat could have easily passed as beef since the flavouring (lack of lamb smell) seemed the same. Regardless it was a very filling meal and youll definitely be full for the amount youre paying.
Poorest service I have ever seen. Guy at reception have no sense at all.
Buyer beware!Surprised to see how badly a restaurant that seemed to hold promise ( at least from the pavement view) misses the mark by such a wide margin and continues to be in business, especially given a discerning clientele of Toronto. From the chutney condiments that come with assorted platter, to sprinkled masala loaded platter, to Mushroom-Paneer-Matar (the chef at best confused the recipe with cream laden korma, at worst felt lazy and whipped out a concoction based on mass produced korma sauce), everything (with the exception of naan bread, hence 2 generous stars) was completely ‘unauthentic’ and generic version of Indian food. To add salt to injury, the bill was priced up from menu listed prices by 15%, and to add humiliation to already bruised palate, upon asking server an explanation for error in bill, ‘sorry, but the revised menu is out for printing’ come the reply!
Excellent food! Honestly probably the best butter chicken I ever had. Went there last week. Everything we tasted was just great from the tandoori chicken to the paneer. The naan is home made and hot and fresh. The atmosphere is great and feels like find dining. They can improve on the salads, there was nothing great there and the reason for the 4 stars is the service. We arrived and there was nobody to greet and seat us. Finally someone popped there head from kitchen and confirmed they are open for lunch. Did not bother to come and greet us. We waited then we just went and sat. 10 min later they decided to come and pour water. Otherwise, the rear was fine. The place got busy very fast and full. You really should get a reservation for a group of more than 2. But they did clear our plates fast enough. The staff is nice but need to improve their customer service. Would I go again, absolutely. This will be the place to go when I am downtown. So very worth it. All you can eat lunch buffet for $17. I highly recommend it and hope they improve the service to be a true fine dining.
Worst biryani..it’s not biryani..it’s not tomoto rice as well..it’s something different..
Amazing Food. Have been there numbers times both lunch buffet and dinner a la carte. We always order the Tandoori Machi - only available for dinner. Mild and perfectly cooked. Friendly staff, quick service perfectly located at the heart of the Toronto downtown, close to CN tower and Roy Thompson Hall at intersection of King and John street. There are a number of Indian restaurants around here, Aroma is must visit.
I did not have a good experience here. I got a piece of extremely raw chicken. The food quality was okay for a buffet place but the place was over stuffed so the food supply was extremely low and there was a shortage of multiple dishes. They couldnt keep up because they were trying to stuff too many people in the restaurant. My advice is to focus on providing better service to less people and making sure the food stays cooked...I will not be going here again
My family orders from here quite regularly. Im a big fan of the goat and tandoori chicken. Great food, especially for the price.
One of, if not my favourite indian food places in Toronto, really great and consistant food. Discount on the walk in pickup also!
Honestly, I enjoyed this location and the lunch Buffet for years, but every single time I have ordered pick up during the pandemic, its been a disaster. No matter what app I use, uber eats or their own, its never ready or, they dont know how to prompt complete on Uber eats, and it just sits cold on the table for hours. The service as other reviewers mentioned is terrible. They will literally argue with you instead of acknowledging their own faults. Its not inexpensive and for too long they have relied on being in the theater district for business. Its very difficult to support small businesses when they clearly DGAF.
Great aloo paratha!
I had a great experience! We ordered the traditional chicken butter, a vegetarian dish, the Indian traditional bread, naan - with garlic and species (yummy!). Everything was delicious! It was a Sunday night and the place wasnt busy - the ambience was nice, the service quickly and nice staff.Prices are fair - complete dish with drink for around $25.Will return to try other Indian food.
Ive ordered from here several times, sometimes even three times a week. They never disappoint! Their prices are affordable. Every dish on their menu is delicious and they are even kind enough to let me customize a few dishes. Ive tried Indian food from several places in down town and this one is by far my favourite.
Honestly the best Naan Ive ever head. Everything was delicious, staff and service were awesome!
Their Indian buffet has some of the best Naan and chicken tikka around.
The best thing about this place is its location, as it is close to the local live theaters. I had a mulligatawny soup (picture) which was good - it had flavour, and a saag paneer which was mediocre, which was bland. I had been here before for a buffet lunch, which was a better experience, but this time, I left disappointed.
This spot always delivers. They serve awesome dishes for fair pricing, there are no long waits even when the spot is full.Like
Lunch buffet experience:Service is great, but the food is just average at best. The lamb stews were not cooked properly and their sauces were not that tasty. Some of the dishes served were not warm enough. Their butter chicken is good, in comparison to other dishes.Their chair and tables are super small and uncomfortable.
Not a single employee was wearing a mask which went on for 15 minutes until the one that I spoken to felt like pulling one on which btw was protecting his chin all this time. Best of luck!!!!
Food is very good but the covid protocol was really lacking. When I went to pick up an order, first they didnt get my order and made me wait when they cooked it. Secondly, nobody inside the restaurant was wearing a mask! When I asked arent you supposed to, they gave some lame excuse. Not sure if I feel safe going back in there.
Super delicious food! Fast & Friendly staff ~~~10 Stars!!!
Took food for Christmas Eve family dinner, sabzi were good and naan too. Samosa were tasty too. Didn’t like the vegetable biryani but rest the food is worth it. You can definitely visit this place for authentic Indian food in Toronto downtown.
Average food at best, lamb was so tough it was hard to chew. Dishes are a hit and miss in flavour (rogan josh was nice while korma was bland). The service is fast, portions are decently sized, but I think its overpriced for the quality.
My favourite Indian restaurant in Toronto! Incredible taste and excellent value
The discount on pick up orders is sometimes given and sometimes not even though it clearly states on the website. Not sure what is going on here.
Finest Indian cuisine in Toronto. King Street WestOld Toronto
Highly recommend!! Ordered samosa, palak paneer and kofta with naan. All very good. Consistent high quality. 👍🏽
Tasty food and a very lively, cosy ambience. We had the papri chaat, bread basket with chicken tikka masala, chicken vindaloo, okra do pyaaza and dal tadka - great taste, though a bit small in portion size. It may perhaps be plenty for a table of two or three. We were a group of seven and ran out of the rotis midway. Despite being houseful on a weekday, the service was attentive. Definitely worth a visit.
I wish I can give them a zero star
This spot always delivers. They serve awesome dishes
We were in the area to watch a show and needed somewhere to eat. “How about this Indian place?” I asked my hangry wife. “I guess,” she replied. What we discovered was some of the finest Indian cuisine we’ve had in a while. However, the staff were a bit too watchful, at some points overbearing. They made sure our water glasses were always filled, and that is to be appreciated. Once you get past that, the food was great and not very expensive either. 4 out of 5 stars.
Close to many busy venues. Parked in Roy Thompson hall ($16). Pleasant comfortable surroundings, good service, good food and very reasonable prices. Washroom was clean and well kept. Would like to see hand sanitizer by the front entrance as many places now have. Thumbs up for good service.
Portions are huge and they give you a discount when you do take out. Good food.
Nice interior and food!!
Very good restaurant
Best place to eat
Great consistent food! Part of our monthly rotation.
Awesome vibes and super amiable service. The meals were fresh and enchanting. Will definitely recommend this spot to anyone. Convenient prices and big meals. Good job.
Lunch buffet - excellent! Good selection of food items on buffet, very reasonably priced. Servers were great, very attentive. This place is popular 12-1pm for a good reason. A definite favourite.
The garlic naan and butter chicken were so good! Absolutely worth exploring the menu for classics and some newfound delicacies
One of the best Indian restaurants in Toronto. You would expect buffet food to be in lower in quality but not here. They serve a modest variety of classic Indian dishes that are fresh and spicy. My favourite place to eat buttered chicken and chicken tandoori in the city.
If all other Indian places closed down and this was the only one open, I would stop eating Indian food. The service was just terrible, I had to ask for water after waiting 10 min. No one came to take our order for a very long time. Also, waited 45 min for butter chicken. One of the worse dinning experiences of my life. Had tandoori chicken 4/10, butter chicken 5/10.
Really good food.
Food came out very fast and tasted delicious. Affordable prices especially for a restaurant in this area. We had vegetarian options but the other dishes looked great too. We were surprised how quiet the place was on a Saturday night, considering its quality.
One of the people with standard quality maintained. Today I had enjoyed the food so much after 1 year and I see the quality is maintained which is why on any given day I can visit this place without hesitation.Other interesting incident wanted to share is about putting in the spot. Today after a happy meal while paying the bill, waiter insisted to give 15% tip by adding the number himself to the bill which is kind of a set back for overall experience. For that i have to reduce 2 stars.
Food was really tasty and price was good. Nice atmosphere
Nice location and good service, the food is good as well, but it can be better for sure. The place is clean, during lunch they serve buffets at reasonable price but there could be more variety for sure. Apart from that the place and service is good.
Poor customer service and inconsistent food quality.I have experience with Indian restaurants for the past decade in Toronto. Ordered medium spicy level one time -- it was spicy. The next time, today, ordered the same dish and it came out without spice.Gave them a call, and they said no, this is how its supposed to be. you should order something else the next time.Do not recommend.
Love this place, best Indian food in town. We were greeted politely as soon as my husband and I walked in, there was a bit of a wait at the lunch rush but we were seated fairly quickly.Got our orders in and apps came pretty quick. Food was delicious! I have eaten at quite a few Indian restaurants and this one is by far my favorite!I recommend to anyone for a date night or family dinner even a solo dine in!
Great find for Indian Cuisine in the Theatre District. Stopped in before a concert at Roy Thompson Hall. Service was fast and friendly. Large generous portions. Good thing our car was parked near by to place take ways bag. Theatre forces patrons to check food items making departure slower.
Fantastic food! This place may look humble from the outside, but offers quite a fancy interior and fantastic Indian cuisine. The menu is mostly tandoori and curries. Everything is delicious.Definitely a good place for a nice dinner.
