Very lovely and peaceful place! The butterflies (actually, a species of moths) are nearly invisible unless you know what to look for, or until they are disturbed by something (in our experience, small birds try to grab them, and the butterflies fly away). Then there are suddenly tens or hundrends in the air, so beautiful! The path is doable for the average person, I think, just dont go too fast.

Beautiful valley with kept nature. Shade and waters keeps fresh air and daily temperature comfortable. Butterflies are all around on trees and rocks. In first part or lower valley, the path is around 400-500m long, second part or upper valley is around 1km (or more) and on top there is a monastery. Lower and upper valley doesnt differ much so if you are not willing to walk or you dont have much time, visit only lower valley, you will see everything you suppose to see hereAt the end of upper valley, there is a small refreshment bar where you can sit and rest after climbing steap stairs

Great walk in the woods. Grew up near mountains so this just hit all the feels. This was well worth the couple of euro it cost to get in. We spent a couple of hour here without much whining from the 7 yr old. Loved walking through the gorgeous nature. Rocks and trees just covered with the cool looking moths. Just check the photos. Super cool spot worth getting here.

WEAR TRAINERS. This is not the place to go if you have mobility issues, a push chair or concerned about young children running and hurting themselves. The ground is extremely uneven and all uphill, a lot of areas are slippy and there are large gaps where children could potentially fall through. Just a fair warning to anyone considering going. However, we did take some lovely photos have some nice (although expensive) drinks and it was nice to be out for a few hours doing something a bit more unique than what we have at home.

It is a very nice walk through the forest where you get to see lots and lots of butterflies. Dont expect them to fly all around you, they are usually sitting on trees or rocks. The path is with rocks and concrete, but very easy to walk on. We wnt in slippers, not knowing what to expect, but our feet didnt hurt at all.Next to the path there is a river and lots of small cascades. Also, in different points, you can scan qr codes to read a bit more about the place. At the beginning and end you have small bars serving drinks and something to eat (burgers, salad and hot dogs).Entrance fee is 5€ and the toilet fee is .50 cents (very clean).

It’s a lovely natural exhibit, but far too many people amass there. They seriously need to restrict the number of people on the path because it is crowded and you can’t walk the path. It’s essentially a long slow line of people not being very considerate of personal space or being in nature. Many people are ill prepared for an uphill walk, and slow down the pace to a crowded crawl. People litter. There are no recycling bins but they sell recyclable items at the concessions. Kind of a sad experience for those that appreciate nature and wildlife. And they are moths, not butterflies.

One of the most beautiful destinations in the island. Suggested place especially if it’s a very hot day. It is an ok place, nicely Done and have many so called butterflies. But, why there are no signs telling you about, how long are the distances from start to finish, why it only stops after some hard climbing with no exit possibilities or easy ways to return?Could you make some or just one place, where you can refresh your self within waterfalls, and what about some transport from the top? I would paid some nice euros for that. Although the people are very nice as everywhere in Rhodes, 5 € for small can of beer is a final rip-off.

Very magical place. I have seen hundreds and hundreds of butterflies residing around the trees, rocks, branches and leaves (keep in mind I visited in Summer, there might not be that many during other months). The place itself is beautiful, a nice path stretches higher into the mountain, surrounded by a lot of greenery and trees. Its mostly shaded and a delicate wind is blowing throughout it, meaning you wont feel steamy for the most of the journey.Theres a couple pit stops with restaurants and such. On top of the mountain you can also see a cute little monastery with a neat view on nearby lands.I didnt expect so many butterflies. 10/10

Definitely worth a visit with the family. We went there after going to the beach regularly for a week. The abundant trees and stream running through the valley provide a relaxing and cooling shade, which definitely helps unwind during the hot afternoon. Please be aware that the whole of the valley is home to only one species of moth. Yes, its not a butterfly, rather a nocturnal moth, which is attracted to the scent of the Oriental Sweetgum trees (Liquidambar orientalis) which are found in the valley, which also happens to be the last remaining natural forest in Europe, and a resting point for the Jersey tiger, which is the nocturnal moth (Panaxia Quadripunctaria)...The valley is made up of the lower and upper vallies and takes a good 120 minutes (with kids) for the round trip. We saw lots of other people with slippers, which definitely is a hazard on the terrain, so please use trainers (Sneakers) or other appropriate sport shoes.Free parking is available onsite.Hope you enjoy your trip there.

This valley should be rebranded as The Valley of the Crabs which I found plenty in the springs flowing down the slopes. On the other hand from butterflies remained only sad corpses. But thats all right! This is the circle of life and only an uneducated person could rate this attraction one star. Every book about Rhodes informs that butterflies appear there only some months of the year and the lady at the ticket office informed me about that as well. If you are visiting butterfly valley you are actively participating in the extinction of this butterfly species. It is just horrible to see how few butterflies are left even though some of the trees are still crowded. The average Joe tourist does her / his part. Taking close up pictures with these beautiful creatures seems to be a basic right of every tourist which frightens and eventually kills the butterflies. They die of exhaustion. It is absolutely not understandable why the Rhodes government doesnt do anything about it. They could charge 6 Euros instead of 5 per person to hire people checking on the tourists behaviour and simply admit entry to less people!

Its a long long walk up if you start from the bottom of the lower valley. Keep you tickets, theyre worth more than gold. Theyll be your key through the many electronic gates -four, if you want to go all the way up to the monastery. Another four if you want to go back down the same way, of course. Its worth it. The place is beautiful, there are millionsof butterflies but you wont be able to see them at first as they look like theyre needles from trees. Stop and look for them, theyve evolved well to blend in their environment. There are some other colours of their wings but the conifers are the main attraction here. Theyre more lively in the upper valley especially those sitting on large rocks andstones. They rarely fly across the path so just stand and appreciate the view for a few seconds. Theres no hurry. And youll need to rest, believe me. The last part, which isclimbing up to the monastery will drain your entire energy. Nice fresh lemonade or fresh orange juice awaits those who make to the last part of the journey. Its overpriced, asyoud expect, but youll be screaming Take my money! Just give me that cool liquid that I desperately need!. And then its the monastery. Very quiet, very solemn, almostforgotten, standing there lonely, as the road wraps it around from all sides. Its beautiful there. Youve made it to the top so take some time to soak in the atmoshpere. Goodnews, the way down is much much easier.A word for those who are scared. If youre concerned about the scary virus, just dont go there. This place is for those who enjoy themselves, those who refuse to stay at home, hiding under the table. No, this place is not covid friendly (what a stupid expression). The paths are narrow and nobody gives a damn about the seasonal flu, or deadly virusas some like to call it. Also, no, you wont be able to take a pushchair into the rocky woods, with many many steps, wooden bridges and stone paths (imagine the level offentitlement of people who complain about that!) Neither will you be able to drive a minibus there, just to save you some time, in case you were wondering. Apply some commonsense when youre chosing your attractions.Look at the photos, go there and enjoy. Its well worth it.
