Tirupur Kumaran Memorial Pillar is the place remembering the freedom fighter Tirupur Kumaran and his Patriotism. In the year 10/01/1932 he was took part freedom fight rally and he was severely beaten by the british police in this place and 11/01/1932 he was died. A memorial Pillar was erected at this place after the Independence.

Kumaran also known as Tiruppur Kumaran or Kodi Kaatha Kumaran (4 October 1904 – 11 January 1932) was an Indian revolutionary and freedom fighter who participated in the Indian independence movement.Kumaran was born in Chennimalai in Madras Presidency, British India (present-day Erode district in Tamil Nadu).His parents were Nachimuthu and Karuppaayi. He founded Desa Bandhu Youth Association and led protests against the British.He died from injuries sustained from a police assault on the banks of Noyyal River in Tiruppur during a protest march against the British government on 11 January 1932. At the time of his death, he was holding the flag of the Indian Nationalists, which had been banned by the British giving rise to the epithet Kodi Kaatha Kumaran in Tamil which means Kumaran who protected the flag.

Tirupur Kumaran is a famous freedom fighter, an Indian revolutionary, who fought against the British tirelessly. As a freedom fighter Kumaran waged relentless struggle against the British. Kumaran was born in 1904, and he passed away in 1932. He was born in a small town, located towards the south of Erode District. He worked and settled in Tirupur, during his early days. He played a major role in the Desabandu Youth Movement. Additionally, Tirupur Kumaran took a lead role in Indias move towards Independence. He conducted many protest march against the British government in many places of Tamil Nadu. He acquired most of his inspiration and motivation from the father of our Nation - Mahatma Gandhi.Kumaran died while protesting a march against The British Colonial Government. He died due to fatal injuries caused by a Police Assault during the protest march. A memorial statue was established in Tirupur in his honour. The Statue has Kumarans life history and photographs. Today, Tirupur Kumaran is regarded as a martyr in Tamil Nadu. He is also known as the Epithet Kodi Kaththa Kumaran. This is because, even during his death, Kumaran struggled hard to save the countrys Congress Flag.

This is the place where the freedom fighter Tiruppur Kumaran was beaten to death by the British police for not parting with the national flag. The road is also named after him as Kumaran Road which is one of the arterial roads in the City.
