Arulmigu Sishtagurunadeswarar Temple, Thiruthuraiyur, Panruti Taluka, Cuddalore - 607 205.Head Special: Sunlight falls on the lingam in the evening during the first week of the month of Chittirai. In italics the Lord bestows blessings on the self. It is the 226th shrine out of the 274 shrines to receive the devotional song of Lord Shiva.Prayer: Special worships to Lord Shiva and Tetsinamoorthy are held here on Thursdays as Gurudalam. Thus the hope is that education will flourish.Nerthikkadan: Dakshinamoorthy is wearing a yellow dress. It is said that those who offer a yellow flower to Dakshinamoorthy on Thursday, light a garland of chickpeas and light a ghee lamp at the temple will get the benefit of the Guru.Pride: Lord Shiva in Thiruvennai Nallur Pitta! Sundarar came to Ithalat, then interrupted by Tenpennayaru and chanted for Lord Shiva from the shore. Then an old couple came there and they took Sundarar back to the shore in a boat and then Shiva disappeared from his sight.Sundarar looked around. However, Shiva could not be seen. Then the old man said to him, The one you are looking for is above, and disappeared. When Sundarar looked up, Shiva appeared in the Rishabha vehicle with the arrow. Sundarar told him to preach to him. Hence, Lord Shiva was nicknamed Tavaneri Aludayar and Sishtagurunadeswarar. Special worships are held on Thursdays as Lord Shiva graces the Guru here.Nandikodi Pradosham: In this temple, Nandikodi is tied nearby during the pujas for Nandi on Pradosh. It was customary to tie a flag with a picture of Nandi printed on it during the joy of Nandi, which is important in the worship of Shiva. Over time this practice has disappeared. This worship is still practiced in Shiva temples in Sri Lanka.Pradosa pujas are held at this place with the Nandi flag.Shiva is in the form of a large linga in Ital. Audi is on the right. Special pujas are held on Pavurnami and every Monday. At this time, people with marriage and Buddha doshas light a neon lamp and worship with a bow and arrow. Here Murugan is Subramanian with six faces. Arunagiriyar sings Kurunathar at the turn, and next to him is Adikesavar in a solitary position facing south, where Sundarar is seen holding a scepter in his left hand and wearing a turban in his honor. In front of the temple, there are shrines to Taduthankondiswarar and Ashtapuja Kali at the place where Lord Shiva stopped Sundara in the form of an old man. Near this shrine is the place where Arunandi Sivacharya, a disciple of Meykanda Nayanar, attained bliss.Head History: When Shiva and Parvati were married in the temple, Agathiyar came to Tendisai. Along the way he consecrated the lingam at several places and witnessed the marriage of Shiva. When he came to Italam, he wanted to see the marriage of Lord Shiva and dedicated the lingam and worshiped Ambala. The two gave him the scene at the wedding. At this place, Agathiyar worshiped Lord Shiva facing west and Ambala facing north. She did so because her marriage took place on Mount Kayalaya in a northerly direction. Based on this, Ambal is in the face of Vamadeva (looking north). It is rare to see Ambala in this area.
