Normally , in a temple , the worshiping God goes to the nearby river during Aratu but here the river overflows cover the temple during Aratu.

A beautiful Devi temple on a virtual island sorrounded by a small stream. An absolutely divine experience. Take your time around the temple. The deity is small and powerful and sits under the open sky below a tree. Amme Mahamaye. The arattu- when the water in the stream rises to bathe Devi is an out of the world sight.

Lies in the outskirts of Thrissur Medium size temple of godess(thanikudathamma)on the river banks, its a festive wen the river floods n baths the idol !known as arattu .calm area .

The Thanikkudam Bhagavathi Temple in the Thrissur district may look like any other temple in Kerala but there is a difference. The idol of the main deity is taken to a nearby pond on special occasions for a holy dip, called Aarattu in Kerala generally. However, things work the other way round in the Thanikkudam Bhagavathi temple. “The story is that the river that flows by the side of the temple overflows and makes its way to the deity.” As the monsoon intensifies, the Thanikkudam River overflows and the water reaches the temples sanctum sanctorum. Since the river embodies river ganga, and the day its waters completely submerge the idol within, it is considered the day for Aarattu. Devotees throng the temple to take a dip in this water, an act they believe will bring them prosperity. “Aaaraattu is held once in a year here. Devotees take a holy dip in the water along with the idol”History says that once in chunakkathoor kavu temple there was iratta pradista. One is sree parvathi & the other our devi. A clash started between the bhramins (the priests of temple) and the nairs. Nairs took our devi and start travelling.The divine sword of our devi was not handed over to nair’s by the brahmins. Even today we can see that the oracles of thanikkudam temple won’t touch swords with their hand in any occassion. They reached a place called thiruvan kadu and made our devis prathista under a thani maram. Thus got devis name thanikkudam bhagavathy. Temple surrounded three sides by river. On the foots of maaree mala.thiru aaraattu is happening naturally, when the thanikkudam river which flows nearby overflows to the temple once in a year. It may happen more than one year rarely.

One of the most famous devi temples in Kerala. Its specialty is its arraat which happens on its own because of the heavy rain and river surrounding it overflowing over the temple. Its a good experience visiting temple during one of those times if you are good at swimming.

Thanikkudam Bhagavathi Temple is a HinduTemple located in Thanikkudam of Thrissurcity in Kerala, on the banks of Puzhakkal River, also called Thanikkudam river. It is dedicated to Goddess Bhadrakali, in the form of Vanadurga. It is famous for arattu ceremony during monsoon season, when the river is flooded and enters the main sanctum, thus submerging the whole idol. This temples is one of the rare temples with such a ceremony. The temple is under the control ofCochin Devaswom Board.

The Bhagwati Temple of Thanikikkadu is popularly known as the central part of the city. It is located on the banks of river Puzakalpuzha in Madakkathara Grama Panchayath for about 10 km north of Thrissur. The specialty of the Arattu phenomenon occurs in most of the year and the occurrence of two or three times during the monsoon season. The main deity is Sree Bhadrakali, the fraudulent one of the divorce. The temple is normally performed in Adi Dravidian customs based on the Shakti system.

The main feature of this place is the Aattu phenomenon occurring in most of the year and the occurrence of two to three times in the season.The faith of the people is that instead of bathing the idol into some water and bathing it, instead of bathing it, the river will flow to Bhagwati himself.The main shrine of this temple is the original shrine of Lord Bhagavathi. This kind of demise can be described as Nanadurga and Aparna. The original primordial self-earth is a big stone inscription on the part of the devotees. This template is located in a closed bedroom, which is placed under a tree called puve, which is not visible from outside. Another small radius inside the sanctum sanctorum is worshiped as puja.The temple is situated in a small river valley known as Thainikkudam Puzha or Nadaadodu, which is surrounded by a panchayath. During the monsoons, the river flows at a height of more than one meter. The relatively short temple land and the peninsula are drowning for a few hours. Many idolaters visit the temple and walk or walk in the chests of water when they are under water.
