It was originally the family house of Jyoti Prasad Agarwala, the noted lyricist, writer and freedom fighter of Assam, now its turned into a cultural center called Jyoti Bharati Museum, famously known as Poki, it got its name from being the first concrete building of Tezpur. Even the Father of the nation, Mahatma Gandhi visited the place.

It was built in 19th century. Mahatma Gandhi had also visit this house during Indian freedom movement. Jyoti prashad Agarwal was the owner of this property.

Very nice and historical place of Tezpur....... Jyoti Prasad Agarwala (17 June 1903 – 17 January 1951) was noted as Assamese playwright, songwriter, poet, writer and film maker from Assam. He was considered as Assamese cultural icon, deeply revered for his creative vision and output and is popularly called the Rupkonwar of Assamese culture.......His death anniversary (17 January) is observed as Silpi divas (Artists Day) in his honor.Mahatma Gandhi stayed in POKI twice ( in 1921 and 1934) at the time of Assam visit during Swaraj Andolan.......

This is the family house of Jyotiprasad Agarwala dev.. This is one of the first brick house of tezpur, so its name is poki.. It is like a museum today.. So many things of rupkuwars are stored here very safely..
