I loved absolutely loved the fritters here. The fried and battered vegetable mixture is full of flavour and topped with two delightful sauces that enhance and lighten the dish. The spiced-Chai was worked perfectly to warm us up on the cold day we visited. This hole-in-the-wall take-away spot really does deliver a unique back-alley street-food experience Sydney is in need of.
We popped over for a snack the other day and the fritters do not disappoint! They were tasty to boot and generous in the serving. Personally the chai wasn’t my cup of tea but that’s neither here nor there. Fun lame way location makes me think of Melbourne, but might be a little tricky to find for some. Will happily go back.
What an absolute gem of an eatery Flyover is. Located at the end of the alleyway that is temperance lane. This peach is something really unique. The alleyway itself was Melbourne-like but less smelly and less covidy. The place itself is a bright hole in the wall. The menu changes each week and it looks like a different sandwich, salad, burger and khichri each time. We got the burger, Sando and fritters. Mainly cause we didnt know how big they were and we were piglets. The burger was amazing, battered cauliflower with a chilli and runny chutney. The Sando was just as good, maybe better. Pumpkin, onion jam and hummus on sourdough. Just amazing and I hate pumpkin on a good day.The fritters were exceptional. Coated in a brown and green chutney they were crunchy and just bursting with flavour. It all was. There needs to be more places like this.
Unprofessional staff. I’m working for doordash food delivery and I got a pickup from this restaurant. And when I’ve arrived at the store, one of the staff member was extremely rude to me and telling that “I’ve arrived late for the pickup” and refused to give me the food to deliver. She had also threatened to report to the doordash for no reason and said that she will make sure I get terminated from the platform.Trust me I was at time for the pickup. I had also reported it to the doordash. We the drivers work for the service not to get humiliated.
When not in lockdown I visit this place weekly. When in lockdown, I order in! Delicious fresh and super tasty food. All made with love and heart. Thanks for your amazing food. I love it!
One of the best fritteries, bhel and the jaffles I have had… What adds to the lockdown is the deliveries that happen doorstep with utmost care and the way its packaged & presented. This is a must try for anyone going thro’ the lockdown stress for a delivery, sure there won’t be any regrets! Thank you team for your consistent good food.
I found this place looking for a vegetarian meal in the CBD. It was a little hard to find the first time. I didnt expect it to be around the corner down an alley. The food was served fast and a good temperature.I have not had what I ordered before and it was a pleasant experience with these new favours. If I could have eaten them I would have liked to try the vegan dumplings from the place next door, also in the alley.Be aware there is a knitting store visible at the back of the main alley as you walk in. FLYOVER is at the end when you turn left.
When an Indian snack bar opens up near my office, you know that I absolutely jumped at joy and found every opportunity to go and check out the food. I’ve taken along a number of people to try out ‘Flyover’ and they’ve all had wonderful reviews. Located right off George Street in Sydney’s busy CBD, this is a real hidden gem that is a little bit tricky to find, but once you’ve found it you will be so happy that you did.Menu: 9/10It’s a really small and basic menu but it ticks off the key items for me. Not only that, but they do each item extremely well.Ambiance: 7/10This is the only place that I feel Flyover needs a nudging - the alleyway is unfortunately a very popular smoking spot. Now this is of no fault of the snack bar itself, but can be a deterrent.Value for Money: 9/10The servicing portions are substantial, and for less than $15 you easily get a complete meal from FlyoverService: 10/10Incredibly friendly service, and really quick also!Food: 10/10Just delicious. That is all I can say.Overall: 9/10
Reluctant to share this place. Everything you get from here is delicious, staffs are nice, and you will get your food relatively fast despite the high demand. Well done guys!
Hidden among the towering city buildings in a gully off the busy George Street is this amazing street style food stand. Be prepared to taste street style Indian flavours with an unique Australian influence. Just yum. Be prepared for the usual hustle bustle around a food stall like in India. Did I also mention that the place is vegan that means everyone can come and enjoy the food. The only drawback is that the stall is opened for a measly 4 hours. Honestly extending the opening hours till 5pm would make this place amazing (ideal chai time).
Awesome vegan hide out with a variety of choices and some spunk. I really enjoy the variety they bring each week and have on several occasions eaten there and also had food delivered home. If you are vegetarian, vegan or even none of these but missing your street feed then do try these guys. Or if you want to surprise a friend with some nom nom on their special day, they do home deliveries too. If yiu ask nicely they may add a note too!
Obsessed with the delicious kitchari. The chai is delicious too. Highly addictive.
Didnt like the taste of a meal I had there, but still keen to try something else from their menu
They take their food very seriously and do an amazing job. Highly recommend the Quinoa Kichihdi. It is flavourful, delicious, and similar to an Indian spiced risotto, but soupier. Their pakora fritters are what they are known for, and are delicious as well.A no frills all vegan spot, which is designed to replicate a roadside food stall in Mumbai (hence the tucked away location). Friendly staff and a great vibe.Only con is the fritters take a while when its busy as they are made fresh, so try an avoid peak lunch time or order ahead if you are short on time.
The amount of publicity this chai bar is getting is amazing ..Especially when the publicity blatantly says 29 types of Indian Fritters is so misleading. The day we visited we were told that they sell 1 type of fritter every week (it changes every week). The one for that particular week of our visit was uninteresting to us.Tea which it sells is very average and basic as opposed to Indian Style of ChaiAttendant could have been friendly, though he was definitely polite. On the whole Expensive, Misleading and Overrated.
Great food. The salad was great, so was the Pao burger and the chai was excellent
I cook and eat a LOT of indian food. Ive been here twice and its easily up there with some of the best indian food ive had.Top notch!
I have been there couple of times and was never disappointed. They have a good and different taste. I really like this place and its great to have in cbd for a quick lunch sometimes.
A bit expensive but really good place. Tried the friters (brocoli and cauliflower bhaji in short). It was very different tried for the first time. Will try some other things aswell next time
Truly a hidden gem. If you like spicy vegetarian comfort food, this is your place. Be it fritters, jaffles or khichdi (yes thats right but a jazzed up version), eveything is drool worthy. Pro tip - check out their weekly menu on their Instagram page and plan :)
Holy moly! The fritters are to die for. Crispy and crunchy, topped with sweet and spicy chutney. Just could not get enough of it. And better yet, it’s plant based. Strongly recommend it!
Tastiest fritters by service stunner Sonia. Great service and great place to activate your spice buds in correct way! And not to miss the khichadi too!! Definitely coming back again and again!!👌🏼👌🏼
Nice indian pakkodas and ginger tea.
Great little shop front in a back alley in the CBD, they are keeping the menu simply to provide quality, and this is exactly what they did. Great flavours in the fritters but a little dry, they may have been out for a little while before serving? Their masala chai is on point! Great taste and perfect for this cooler weather, break up your normal routine and try something different, youll love it.
Delicious unpretentious Indian inspired vegan meals served in a quirky almost unfound-able laneway at the heart of Sydney
They are passionate about their food and take pride in each serving - a Godsend for the vegan scene in Sydney CBD.
Good place for authentic chai..but they r vegan so they dont use real milk. I like everything they serve.
Great taste. The fusion works pretty well. Will come back whenever I am in city.
OMG...Best pakoras...and pickles to die for.
Love this place so much! Definitely one of my favourite eats in Sydney. I am a regular customer of this little food joint. Everything I have tried from here has always been so delicious and the menu changes weekly so there is always something new and wonderful to try.
South Asian street food at its absolute best! The pakodas (friteries) have such a nice crunch to them with interesting spices mixed in, the quinua khichadi reminds me of home (that is a tough benchmark to beat) and their chai!.. this is how chai is supposed to be made. And oh, its all vegan! Now if only they had a chutney bar, wait they do! Theyve thought of everything 😊
Staff are so warm and friendly with great bants. Food is delicious and absolutely hits the spot. Really great ever-changing vegan menu. Great price point for the center of the city. It will become a regular haunt for me for sure, Amazing!
Great hospitality, lovely owner and amazing food. Our children 2 and 5 loved everything we ate. Salad bowl, fritters were their favourites. Thanks guys
Went today for lunch with my partner and 1 year old son and really enjoyed our meals. Lots of flavours which was great. Customer service was also pretty good. The guy who served us was pretty nice. Keep up the good work. Excellent vegan place!
The names o familiar spots and street names clear. I support where is for the same reason. Good navigation tool.
What a delicious gem this vegan restaurant is!!! Their chai is the perfect way to warm up your winter morning, so smooth and aromatic from the tingling mix of spices. I can’t even begin to compliment their delicious food - all using homemade sauces, chutneys and other creative inventions!Overall, a highly recommended must-try for a taste buds revitalisation experience!
The best and most flavourful Indian food (or ANY food!) in Sydney that Ive tried. A small and consistently brilliant menu. Makes me super proud when I eat there cos heres someone showcasing Indian food for what it really is.
Best chai and fritters in town. Everyone needs to try at least once Gunjans flyover once in life!
Hands down unbelievably fresh and mouth-wateringly phenomenal food, served with love. Flyover is exceptional. Dont walk, RUN here - utter joy for your soul and your tastebuds! :)
A real gem and a truely distinct offering in Sydney’s Indian eatery scene, my favourite dish are the freshly made bhaji’s!
Amazing food! Everything is cooked with so much love, high quality ingredients, so flavourful and fresh!
Absolutely epic food, just wanted to have a bit more choice. Firstly, really great food all round been a couple of times and will be bringing friends to show them soon. However, would love a couple more items on the menu to keep coming back to. Big fan of not having to choose between a hundred items but could definitely use a daily special or two to get me exited to revisit. Keep up the good work legends and look forward to the next visit.
Amazing. Loved everything
The Masala tea and the fritters out here are absolutely out of the world. The fact that the owner Gunjan is a lovely and warm person is a cherry on top.Whether youre an Indian who is feeling homesick or someone who just wants to try out the lip smacking and therapeutic nature of Indian tea and snacks - Flyover is a must visit tea bar.
Incredible dining experience. Caught it at a good time where there wasnt too much traffic. Flavours are amazing. I highly recommend it
Love the place .. just very limited menu ..
The fritters and chai are amazing!! I especially love the chutney that comes with the fritters - I would buy jars of this if I could. The menu is limited (not always a bad thing) and the ordering system is a little odd (no names or numbers) but will keep returning for sure.
Very unique and tasty, but bit on the expensive side. Would visit occasionally
Amazing vegan and gluten free food options, fabulous service everytime, and really great delivery or takeaway options now. I go back often. Very satisfying, highly recommend!
This is the kind of place that you take your non-vegan friends to and theyre like wow, OK, youre not missing out on ANYTHING being vegan.
Quality fritters and other vegan options...
This place is getting popular by the day and interestingly the taste is consistent. A good try for Indian style of fritters and chai. The staffs really warm and friendly. Love the concept !!! Pricings a tad bit steep but totally worth it.
Delicious. Tucked away in a narrow alley, foods simple but done so well. Just enough space to sit around and eat.
Ive been to Flyover right from the day they opened for business and many times over. Whilst the food is pretty good and palatable, the staff demeanor is rather okay-ish. Ive stopped going because of that. I miss the food though. Wishing them all the best. Im sure theyll continue to excite Sydneysiders and visitors alike.
Love the food! Dont expect it to be as filling as a regular meal and youll be fine. Wish it was a tad more spicy... But then its spicy already for some!
This place is superb. Great meal choices and a nice back alley feel to boot. Highly recommended
Every other day it’s our go-to place for afternoon Indian chai and crispy delicious pakora’s. No one come close to them in terms of authenticity in CBD area.
Amazing. Get here early to beat the rush but its definitely worth the queue. The service is a bit odd with no names taken or numbers given out but otherwise perfect.
I have always enjoyed going to this hole-in-the-wall place to have a taste of tea.
Amazing find tucked in a cute little laneway off George St right in the city. The pakoras are DELICIOUS and the chai is off the charts good. Also it is 100% vegan and gluten free!
Best chai and vegan desi food in town
The salad is different and fusion mix of Indian and western, chai needs a bit more work. Pakoda ( fritters) serving can be bigger. Over all a typical street side ambience and food
Worst service Ive experienced in years. You got the order wrong, mate, and that doesnt mean you can treat people terribly. There was no-one behind us in the queue, so saying yep, can you just hurry this up so we can move on after hurrying all 3 of us with the orders with your filthy attitude, was not acceptable and just means Ill be giving your establishment a miss in future. Its a pity, given Sydney CBD is so light on vegan options. Still, Id rather go anywhere but here.
Great food. Would love go here again to have some yummy food
Delicious, delicious, delicious! Love the fritters and the chai.
Love the pakoras (fritters)! Really unique flavours and so fresh! Also, the mint chutney is to die for!!Cant wait to be back again 😃
Yummy pakoras in their own style with some desi touch! Loved the lightly flavoured indianish chai !
Pakoras are okay. Its quite expensive for 9 pieces of pakoras ($9 for small size). Quinoa Khichri is below average. It tastes more or less like baby food than khichri. Hot chai was okay.Overall, I felt its too much hype.
Fritters are usually good. Hot Tea is not as good as it should be.
Tea and pakoras!. Perfect location- away from the hussle and bussle of the city!♡♡♡
Very reminiscent of good old Indian bandis(food-carts). Food tasted pretty good and so did the chai. They even had old hindi pop music playing on the radio.
Lovely vegan masala tea and quinoa kichdi !
Almost the original Indian taste in Sydney, what more can you even ask for. Homely feeling👌👌
Really awesome pakoras!Fresh batches were made on the spot and were truly delicious.Highly recommended!
Amazing Hot Chai ! Very authentic :)
Nice chai and pakora for evening snacks
Some of the best Indian street food I’ve ever had, including in India.
Its a diiferent ambience, feels like having street food in india. Food is good.. not exactly like in india but good.
Had Pao Burger yesterday and its super yum. Staff are very friendly too. Also loved their Chai tea.
