Oh where to begin, we arrived at Diwali without any expectations but the standard of those rose by every minute, the wonderful scent of spices and grilled food is still making me hungry. It is by far the best South Asian food we had, or on par with the best. It is quite a nice fusion of North Indian, Nepalese and traditional Indian as we know it.The best points about this place are:- service- quality of food- menu choices- background music- good pricesI dont really know what else to say but overall it was a great experience in every way.Parking is available and it is just behind past the Greyhound pub in the alleyway.

Only proper authentic Indian food in Swindon ..rest claim it to be indian restaurants but they arent. Indian food is much more intensive than being spicy, greasy and blend of curries.prompt delivery and fair rates.

Diwali has become my family and friends’ go to place to eat out. After our favourite Indian restaurant closed we were looking for places and we decided to try Diwali as it had recently opened. We were amazed at how authentic and amazing the meals were. Combined with the excellent service it has become our go to place for Nepalese/Indian food. I have never left a review for a restaurant, yet I am compelled to share my experience with the rest of you!Recently we went there for a birthday party and had a variety of dishes. We started off with plain and masala poppadoms, usually in restaurants these are the most neglected appetisers. Not at Diwali though. Here, they were warm, crispy and light, and with the combination of sweet mango chutney, creamy mint sauce and fresh salad it was foresight into the culinary experience to come. For starters, we ordered Lamb Tikka, Chilli Chicken, Chicken Momo, Chilli Paneer and Vegetable Manchurian. Every single dish had its own unique flavour, emanating aroma and plentiful portion. Lamb and chicken were incredibly tender and the spices had soaked all the way through the meat which made you longing for more. Chicken momos were steaming hot and you could tell they had been cooked to order, they were a treat with the kids and teens on the table. Chilli paneer had the biggest chunks of paneer I had ever seen in a restaurant and vegetable Manchurian was soft and perfectly coated in a thick flavourful sauce. For the mains, we ordered Chicken Chettinad, Chicken Kadai and Lamb Kadai along with chilli naan, garlic naan and vegetable biryani. I thoroughly recommend to those who can handle spicy food to go for the Chettinad, you won’t be disappointed. Yes there is spice but also you can taste the spices cooked with the chicken, which is rare. The kadai, was great too with spices penetrating all through the meat. To finish off we had vegetable biryani and with that came to the end of a wonderful meal. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very friendly with talented hosts like Ganesh who very kindly accommodated our every need and handled our large drinks orders with precision. The restaurant is lucky to have such great staff who will go to the ends to ensure you have a great time. We will definitely be back to our favourite restaurant in Swindon! Thank you Diwali team

If you like to try Indian food, then you should visit Diwali, one of the good restaurants in and around Swindon. Easily accessible and situated around Town Center. Diwali serves both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes which are made using Indian spices..served hot and that makes it more yummm..A nice place to visit with friends and family..

Excellent, a cut above other curryhouses. Its the little details that make all the difference.Edit: Since have had an average experience, sweaty and poorly seasoned. Inconsistent. Plastic is a terrible choice for packaging bhajis or pakoras - foil will stop them sweating.

My experience was not good at all. I usually dont post anything negative but I was really disappointed. We had ordered veg Manchurian, fried rice and chicken Tikka for dinner. What we got was soya chunks dipped in Manchurian sauce🥴. The fried rice had no taste. It was more like veg pulao. Chicken Tikka was better than these two but definitely not up to the mark. Never going to Diwali again🤐🤐

Without doubt the best tasting food Ive ever eaten from an Indian restaurant and they put their own twist on the dishes as they are Nepalese. They have even started to put their own Nepalese dishes on the menu which I tried last time of visiting and they are outstanding. All food is freshly cooked so the waiting time is a little longer than you might expect but well worth the wait.Staff are very friendly and the service is great.

Update:Made the mistake of ordering delivery. I am a strict vegetarian. Ordered Paneer Jalfrezi. Definitely had chicken pieces in it.Will NEVER order from here again.Prior visit - Dine InService was really disappointing. Papaddams were not offered at all. Hot towel at end of meal was not offered. Food although good, came very late. Not to be picky but there were table candles on each table which staff was lighting when guests occupied their table. In my case they just.....forgot..!?

This is a very good Indian restaurant. I went there in heavy snow. I was the only customer. I was treated graciously and kindly. My food was the best, especially the chicken tikka dhansak. The behaviour of the staff is not at all good . He warned us that it is his place and not going to serve us and even threatened us to throw out of the restaurant. The food was ok . It was one of my friends birthday. We came to have a good time but due to misbehaviour of the staff , our total mood of happiness has been vanished.I will never suggest the restaurent to any one.I would have given no stars, but system is not allowing me to give feedback without any stars. Thanks for giving us very nice dinner.

Wouldn’t even give it a 1 star!! Really rude staff. Order took almost 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was so cold and half the order missing. When I asked for a refund I was told I would have to put all the food back into the containers and return to the shop myself. After a few minutes they agreed to picking up the food. When he arrived he asked again if I would keep the food as he would have to pay for it. He said it will be fine to re heat and I will give you a free bottle of drink! To this I said no to then be told I would be blocked from ordering from there again (Not that I would even want to!)

As far as I understood its run by Nepali People but the taste they have maintained is at par with Indian taste and a good gesture of service makes it even better. The only thing which I felt is lacking (its for me only) is that all breads they serve are Maida and I dont like that so if you also have same choice of bread as mine you canchoose to order rice here that is good😃Overall its nice to be there at least once every week 😋

Came here to celebrate a birthday. Regular take out customers and thought we would try the restaurant.Awful experience...- waiter getting dressed in lobby upon arrival- room allocated was freezing (had to ask 3 times for heating - the fact we had a baby did not matter)- childrens food was inedible. Fish fingers burnt to crisp. Shocked they brought it out - asked for replacement - same again. My 1 year old didnt eat. No apology or regard for the inedible food!!- never asked if our food was ok...AT ALL- several times we each had to leave out seats to get some service- waited almost half an hour to have the birthday cake brought out. Eventually, it was brought out how it came- embarrassingly, we had to take off the packaging and make it look presentable to the recipient.- had to help ourselves to plates and spoons for the cake.- our guest had to go to the shop next door to buy a candle as it was an utter shambles and the staff did not care.- arrived at 5pm and left at 7.45. Such slow non existent service. The website claims kid friendly but even the most angelic of children will get restless being somewhere almost 3hrs.Couldnt wait to leave. No apology. The staff seemed more consumed with serving guests in the main restaurant area and dealing with their take out element.I regret paying the asking price as it ruined the whole birthday. Such a shame.
