Great camp site. Bath house was clean but needed a bit more air movement.Water pressure at sites was wonderful!Area was nice to walk around even if it is hilly. Check in at Days Inn, the staff at the hotel was very responsive.

This campground was located on a very nice property. The grounds were clean and great for walking. A few things I would suggest though is to add more washing machines and dyers, and to cool that area off somehow even with large fans, its unbearably hot in that area. The Amphitheater is beautiful and it is a shame its not being used. The owners have invested a lot of money into that venue and should really utilize it. Its a well maintained property though and close to everything you need.

Terry is absolutely incredible! She went above and beyond any campground service we have ever seen. We had issues attempting to work from our camper, and she gave us flexibility to move to another site just to see if we had better luck! The campground is very quiet and clean. I will be coming back, solely due to Terry!

Not bad for an overnight place to stay in an RV. Not much more than that though. Unfortunately the lawn mowers really needed to.get their job done while we were sitting outside on the patio instead of moving on to other areas first. (There were plenty of vacant spots they could have done first).

Traveling from south Texas to NY this is the most expensive camping yet. For $59 the sites should be level and on a concrete pad. Instead they are a mound with very little stone, havent been upgraded in a long time. Ive stayed at better places for half the price. One positive note is the wifi is good at the site.

Beautiful campground, neat as a pin, not very full. One of the best places we have stayed. Would highly recommend it. Be sure to check in at Days inn before you go into the campground.

We have been coming here for several years as it is very convenient right off i-79. However this past visit on site 31 we discovered a problem with the 50 amp service. Because our motorhome has a smart power management system it detected an open ground and would not let us use the power... thankfully. We had to back down to the 30 amp which did work. I contacted the front desk and they offered to move us but by this time we were set up and did not feel like moving. I am just thinking they should have a regular monthly check of all the power to make sure everythings okay. Someone with a system that does not recognize the ground is off on the 50 amp service might do some serious damage or even get hurt having power to their rig without a ground. But really in all the years weve been coming here this is the only incident weve ever encountered. It is a very nice place to stay.

Everything was nice with the acception of leveling. The site were very hard to level on. Water pressure was great, sites were arranged very nice. Also, roads were a bit tight for big rigs.

Visit again: Yes, very convenient location to enjoy Charleston (1.5 hrs drive. Stonewall Resort (45 minute drive). Sutton Lake (10 minute drive). Westen Glass Museum is a surprising find, we spent over an hour here, could have stayed longer (30 minute drive). The town of Flatwood has beautiful views and surrounding area/homes are just a pleasure to drive around and enjoy.Campground for the “Mature” RVers: Yes nice, calm, quiet, clean and pleasant. No evidence of long-term tenants.Felt safe: VERY, had marked security drive through often.Site condition: some sections are tiered to give a more vacation feel, others are even side by side. Nearly all sites appeared easy to enter; pull-thru or back-in.Spacing between sites: Plenty of space for your rig, your truck, your table, chairs and still have more room available.Views: we were in section 1- 12, it was quiet, for mature campers, trees all around but not cramped or stuffy.Hook-ups: All in working order, easy to locate, all in one spot, clean, too.Noise (road or campground): very quiet. This campground is up and above a hotel deep in the trees and away from the traffic of the highway.Staff: SWEET!!! Very kind, patient despite being very busy. The staff is inside the Days Inn Hotel. You call them, check-in there and see them in the lobby always with a smile in the voice and a sincere Thank You.Services: Funny but we were most excited about the firewood being very well seasoned and dry. It was $11 a bundle but generous and everything burned within 2 hours. This was a 1st for us.Ease of drive to grounds: A bit odd exit from the highway. You turn at the Buick dealership, pass it, curves around to the right and you go up up up to the Days Inn Hotel parking lot. Check-in at the lobby of the hotel before going to the KOA entrance gate.Things to do: We enjoyed dinner at the hotel restaurant. Swimming pool is small but pleasant. Just to walk the grounds is worth is everyday. The grounds are beautiful maintained, green and lush. There is an amphitheater on the grounds but there wasnt any entertainment at the time of our visit.

Quiet campground! We enjoyed our stay. The CG was well located near several outdoor activities, groceries and restaurants. The sites were level. All utilities water, electric and sewer worked flawlessly. The laundromat was small (one washer and dryer), but clean and well maintained. I’d definitely camp here again.

Oddest campground I have stayed at. Have to go through a Day⁶s Inn front desk to register - no KOA staff. No Kamp store to purchase supplies or firewood. On site laundry was out of order 6 of the 7 days we stayed there. Certainly not what I have come to expect when staying at KOA.

Very nice, quiet, friendly place!

We were pleasantly surprised at this KOA after reading the not so good reviews about it. We have a 45 foot coach towing a car so we have to do due diligence before attempting anywhere new or unknown.This KOA was easy to find after exiting off of the interstate. Based on what we had read about checking in at the Days Inn, and finding the correct entrance to enter the lobby, check in was painless and easy. We had already made our reservations online and paid for it.Signage going into the campground was sufficient and the road, although a little narrow, was easy to navigate with our Big Rig. The directions to our campsite was easy to understand and soon we were set up in our pull through site #43.Interior roads were paved and the sites were gravel with concrete patios. The only negative I could see about the water and electric pedestals were that they were a little high off of the ground and could present a problem for slide outs if you pull in too closely. We did not hook up to water and did not use the sewer. But the electricity was fine. We also did not use the bathhouse. We had read about the wireless signal being almost nonexistent but if you have Verizon, there is a cell tower within sight of the campground as noted in our photo’s. Signal was very strong. We did not use the campground Wifi. There is a small playground for kids.There was one other RV in our row when we arrived and in a few hours, the entire row was full so I would advise reservations especially for big rigs. It was a very quiet night which we enjoyed immensely.

I was extremely disappointed to see a gravel drive that I parked my vehicle on with one picnic table and no trees was going to cost me $65 to camp for one night I live in Arkansas I can camp on some of the most beautiful lakes in the United States and it cost me $25 and night Ill never ever come back to Flatwoods Im very disappointed in West Virginia

NARROW winding road up a steep hill to Days Inn Parking lot. STOP in parking lot BEFORE KOA entrance and register at Days Inn!Then narrow winding road downhill to campsites. Very nice sites but had to add pads under front right leveler at our site even with Snap Pads to get level. Quite and well manicured area. Great dog walk park.

Very nice and clean. Not much to do unless you wanted to shop at K-Mart, hike, fish, or go kayaking. Just want to get away for a peaceful relaxing time its great.

Our first stop going show was pretty good. We got a descent site was fairly level. We had an issue on our stop going north on our trip back home. The site we were given was so out of level that our coach couldnt level. They offered two alternative sites that were only slightly better. Got our money refunded and stayed over night at a rest stop which was 100% better than the site at the Flatwoods KOA.

This KOA is part of a Days Inn, which is strange for a campsite. You check in there, and the pool is the hotel pool. We were on top of a hill with a beautiful view, but a looooong hike to the bath house/ playground. Very nice bath house though, and a cool looking amphitheater. Not a bad place to spend a night or two.

We have been on vacation for a week now and stayed a KOA to whole way from Alabama to Maine and this is the only KOA that doesn’t give military discount. I will check from now on and contacting the KOA corporate offices

This was a great campground for an overnight stay, the sites are level and pull-through with full hookups. The only downside is that if you follow GPS instructions, youll end up at closed gate behind a high school. The correct way is to go to the Days Inn and check in there. The staff is very friendly.

Because of reviews we were only going to stay 1 night here on our way to Nashville. But we decided heck, we wanna see what WV has to offer. So we booked 2 nights. It didnt disappoint. Sutton Lake was awesome & close by, spent the whole day there. Went out to eat at El Gallo, delicious & friendly staff. Which was suggested by KOA staff.Now on to the park itself. We were pleasantly surprised at how immaculate the grounds are here. Also at how easy it is to find the campground & the speedy/pleasant check in. Theres no activities here for the lil ones, so in that respect not like other KOAs Just a small park & the outside pool . Only bad thing I could say about this place is that the laundry room/facilities was extremely hot. But the ice machine made up for that. Free ice always a good thing. Definitely will be back if coming through this area again.

One of the best campgrounds I have stayed at. Sites are all pull through, level with mostly new gravel. Beautiful views from the top of the hill. Staff was pleasant and efficient. Great place and will be staying again.

Don’t let the Karen’s of these reviews fool you. This is a very nice KOA and the pool at the hotel is nice with a beautiful view. Anyone that gives this place a bad review doesn’t deserve to call themselves a camper and should stay home and go to the mall.

Clean, friendly, peaceful campground. We were in spot 31 on top of the hill, we had plenty of space. Very pet friendly. Only downside is the wifi dodnt work for the 3 days we visited. I work remotely, so this was a bigger issue for me than most.

This place is really odd. The Days Inn owns it, and the entrance is in their back parking lot. The sites are all sloped; mine is at more than a 3% grade, and my leveling jacks are having a rough time. The exit road for my site has an area that is more than a 10% downhill grade that ends in a hairpin turn, and the roads are very narrow.The amenities (except bathrooms) are all completely shut down because the owners are terrified of the coronavirus. I appreciate caution, but theyre going too far with it in ways that dont help stop the spread.Update: I have added a star because the management allowed me to move to a more level spot at no charge. Also, I wanted to add that the scenery is nice and the campground has a lot of potential.

The site way not level. And it was just not mine. Most of them. Took me over 5 on side just to get it close. The pool was closed but was not told it tell I was heading there.water was Rusty.

Lackluster for sure. It is a field behind a hotel they decided to call a KOA. It really should not be called a KOA - we have come to expect a certain level of experience at KOAs and this one disappoints for sure. The location is off the interstate but not easy to get to. It was fine for a single night as a stop on our drive home from the Smokey Mountains, but certainly not a destination. I can’t imagine staying here for more than the 12 hours we did. Also the sites are not level or wide enough and the water was brown when we got it going.

A diamond in the rough! I picked this campground while passing thru WV, and this was the only one I found within a couple hours that didnt look sketchy online. Turns out, its fantastic for a stopover, or for a home base for activities in the area. Its attached to the Days Inn Conference Center, and there is also a small amphitheatre there. Not a ton of amenities, but it is clean, safe and friendly. Its also very easy to get in and out of. One note: the office and check-in is at the Days Inn, so you need to stop up in the hotel parking lot before heading down. Lots of fast food around, and plenty of had/diesel (including truck spots for diesel that are great when towing.) Once you get parked, you MUST try the Custard Stand! Fantastic chili dogs and homemade frozen custard!

Not really flat woods. Good enough for an overnight stay. Narrow, hilly, twisty driveways that get you to not so level sites. Longer trailers may off-track off pavement. This place does have a nice outdoor amphitheater. Checkin is at the Days Inn hotel in front of the park. Check out time is 1pm which is very generous.

Great place! Not sure about the negative reviews, it has everything you need! Its beautiful, great staff, and very clean! The sign is at the end if the road with the Days Inn sign and check in is at the Days Inn. All of the hotel amenities are included with your stay! Its also not far off of the interstate. We loved it and would absolutely stay here again! Kudos to the Flatwoods KOA!!!

Really solid stay! We were road tripping across the South and East and stayed here one night. Easy in, easy out. Small playground for kids. Nice secluded spot. Delivered firewood to our site. Bathrooms were close and clean. Flatwoods Monster stayed at bay, but maybe you will see him wandering the woods.

Great place, great location.We spent 6 days in WV and stayed at this campground. It was wonderful. The sites are pull through with cement slab and picnic bench. A small grill, too. You can put your garbage out daily if desired. Drains for both grey and black waters. It is behind a Days Inn and we were allowed to use the inside and outside pools, and the exercise equipment at the Inn. It is located off a busy highway but has no vehicle noises. There are many eating places to chose from, and the gas price was quite low...$2.35 at this writing.

Awesome place! You get to use the facilities of the connected Days Inn including a workout room, amazing indoor pool and hot tub. Plus, the complimentary breakfast. Restrooms and showers had lots of hot water and were very clean. Desk open 24 7.

Nice easy sites to get into.

WATER provided to the site came out BROWN. Site 215. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Your health comes first. When I reported it, they sent the security guard to check it out, and he couldnt do anything. Awful experience.

There is not a sign so look for Days Drive. You check in at the Days Inn at the top of the hill. The campground is outstanding. Clean and quiet. Very well kept. Friendly staff and spotless restrooms with a laundry facility. And you can use the outdoor or indoor pool at the Days Inn. If you are on I 79 I highly recommend this place.

Nestled in a valley behind the hotel, thus it was very quiet. Easy pull through and access from highway. Full hookups surrounded by forests. Laundry and bath house were spotless.

It is a fine stop on the way thru WV. Not the most equipped in terms of activities. Hard to navigate if you arrive at night and have nevver been before. Clean enough. Staff at the hotel was very nice. Food at the hotel is good.

We enjoyed the pull through site after a long day of traveling. It was cool that we could use the pool & hot tub. Pool was indoors & warm enough to enjoy. Wifi signal was ok but could be stronger. We just stopped to sleep but seemed nice & friendly. Also convenient off 79 but didnt see a sign to tell us check in was at the hotel.

Very convenient next to highway, clean, level sites. Sites large and level enough to not unhook. Hill to get in is not a huge hill, just a hill. Very quiet, perfect for a one night stop enroute to somewhere else. Stayed both to and from our holiday. Pool at Days Inn makes this a great stop for kids. Desk staff and security great. Local fire department not so much. A trailer next to us had their propane/co alarm going off with two dogs in the trailer and when the owners could not be reached, the fire department (Volunteer) was called and refused to open the camper. Yes refused. Said it was breaking and entering. Despite me arguing, they would not budge. We left that night out of concern for our safety, and parked at the top of the hill, as far away from the campground as possible in the hotel parking lot. We hope for the sake of the dogs that it was a malfunctioning alarm. Regardless, hotel staff were wonderful and tried MANY times to reach the owners of the camper. We would definitely stay again.

The campground is clean. But what staff are people talking about? Its like a plot of land that they decided to call a KOA. Nothing to do, no information about things to do in the area. Literally its like people said is good for one night and one night only. I have never had to look at reviews for a KOA, always had good experience, but now I am stuck here for 3 nights! NOT A HAPPY CAMPER

Campground is well kept. Nice full hook up RV sites with cement patio, picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire pit. Quiet during midweek, early fall 3 night stay. Many restaurants and stores within 1 mile. KOA is owned by the same as the Days Inn also on the property.

IF YOU ARE CLASS A STAY AWAY! Given up trying to level after fully extended jacks could not. Best case scenario was jacks 8 inches in air on the front. Not going to do that!Yes we know it’s West Virginia and it’s hilly but rather be at a Casino or Walmart instead of here and $45 poorer. We asked when making reservation ‘ is the site level ‘? Days Inn said yes. No it’s not.Check in is a hotel attached to the property and you are definitely the red haired stepchild for them. Sign on front door of Days Inn says don’t bring your Muddy Boots into the Lobby. There is no mud in the parking lot of the Days Inn but the KOA is definitely muddy.Called after got to our site and they said do whatever you want, move to another lot, whatever but not their problem. Place is basically empty. We asked about restaurant. Closed and even if open it would be a 30 minute walk from our spot.I don’t think Days Inn and KOA are a good partner. It’s definitely not the KOA Standards for camping

We had a very nice, quiet time for a over night stay. The place is very clean. The only concern we had was they need to invest on a BIGGER sign, KOA, other than that we cant wait to come back in spring!

Personally, I think this place is the absolute BEST KOA from south FLORIDA to south western PENNSYLVANIA. On our way up to PA we did not get to stay here, however I wanted to make an extra days stop just to experience this place and I’m SO glad that we did. We were at pull through sight 19. The ONE AND ONLY comment I have is that the pull through spots are on a hill and the black and grey lines have to push uphill which makes it a little difficult. But other than that, they have the cleanest bathhouses, laundry areas, and camp K9’s our dogs finally had the ability to run for the first time in a month. WiFi isn’t the greatest, but a lot better than a lot of the KOA’s

Clean, nice sites with picnic tables, well maintained, daily trash pickup, friendly staff, nice amenities, great for walking, kid friendly (playground, accessible pool), and good restaurant. Campers mostly stay one night. You should stay longer and check out the area. Would definitely stay here again.

Site was at the bottom of the hill near amphitheater. Not very level and signage in park needs to be updated and in view. Bathroom was clean and laundry was fine. Not much to do in town. Restaurant in hotel was good.

You check in at the Days Inn motel, but the campground is behind it. We got a nice 50AMP full hookup pull-thru in October 2017 and everything worked. The campground is in multiple sections and weaves through the woods. We would stay again.

We picked this campground in spite of some negative reviews because it was convenient. The hill to enter is a hill - not a very, very steep hill. It took no effort with our Chevy truck pulling a 35 trailer. Sites were level; we never unhooked. Each site has a concrete patio. The bathrooms are modern, spotless, and secure. And it is absolutely quiet. True, it has no cable, which we dont care about. And perhaps there are wild animals. Arent there in most rural places? People, its a very nice campground.

Beautiful view of the mtns from site. Hard to level our motorhome so the wheels werent off the ground. Water at site was brown and wouldnt clear. Good 50 amp service.

My husband and I stayed here for the first time the first week of July 2018. We really liked the park: very clean bathroom/showers/laundry facilities, and has an amphitheater to see concerts. The Days Inn & Suites, that owns it, allows camping guests to utilize the hotel amenities: business conference center, gift shop, indoor/outdoor swimming pools, restaurant, and fitness center. They do not chairge an extra fee to have guests visit you at your campsite lot, only if they too want to use the hotel amenities. All Days Inn & Suites staff were friendly and accommodating. We will come down from Ohio for 1 week every year in the Summer/Fall months!

Check in is at the front desk of the hotel. If you have a big rig, be sure to ask if you can make it to some sites. Our 45 RV had to go down a very steep drive to our spot.Some areas are very wet do to poor drainage, so take precautions during bad weather.The concrete patio were great.

Clean ,quiet, considerate campers sharing the camp...friendly check in folk...be sure to check in at the hotel...no separate check in for the KOA...all around a great place to stay.

I was worried about coming here after reading the reviews but it is ok. You need to really watch for very small KOA signs and go to the Days Inn which turns before you get to McDonalds (our GPS was trying to incorrectly take us somewhere else). Check in at the Days Inn before going through the KOA entrance which says you have to be registered before entering. The parking lot is plenty big to park and register. The best spots for a Class A or Class C towing are sites 35-43 (called the Big Valley section near the Mountain Lakes Amphitheater). They are fairly level and easiest to get in and out of. The campground is very hilly and the other sites require you to go up and down some even steeper hills. It is pretty quiet in the campground (little to no traffic noise). Restrooms are clean.

I grew up in northcentral WV but moved away 25 yrs ago. Found this KOA late one evening when we were in the area in a 43 ft. motorhome visiting with my niece & her family who lives in Spencer. It was the only campground in the area that would accomodate a big rig with full hookups. The road leading up to the Days Inn is very steep and a bit narrow but my husband is a confident driver. (I would have been a nervous wreck). We found the accomodations to be affordable & adequate. If you have a big rig, you probably dont want to park in the upper sections as the descent is VERY steep. We had to park up there last year because lower sites were full with gas line workers. We managed O.K. but the sites in the lower section are much easier to navigate. We travel through WV each October so I can visit friends & family as we make our way to SW FL from northern MI. This is one of my favorite stops!

Ok for a stop over, but not a typical KOA if you are expecting a premium place for a premium price. It is owned by the hotel next door, which is where you check in. The name might have you thinking flat, but our site was not level. Bathrooms are fine and there is an outdoor stage that might bring attractions worth seeing. For us, it was just an expensive stop over with full services. Perhaps next time, we will consider the nearby Walmart parking lot.

Really enjoyed our stay here. Didn’t get to use all of the amenities as we were there for bridge day at new river gorge.

The signs were almost impossible to find even with GPS showing where to turn. Went past and had to turn around. Sign was slightly easier to see when making a right turn. Im used to the usual large KOA signs. Went up hill past the hotel and saw KOA spelled out on hillside so I went that way. Saw campers then large amphitheater which wasnt the office. There was no sign to show that I had to register in the hotel. I had to ask another camper.For 40 plus tax I got a weedy gravel site that wasnt very level. Only good thing was good wifi.I have to give the hotel employees credit, they had to deal with a cranky tired camper, they were very nice.I usually like KOA but I would not recommend this one until they put up more and larger signs.

Super! Beautiful location, pull-throughs and very well maintained. Owner also owns the adjacent hotel, allowing access to both outdoor and indoor pools and hot tub, a real bonus for travel weary bones! Daily onsite trash pickup, playground for kids and lots of walking trails in beautiful Appalachian woods.

We stayed in the luxury cabin while staying in West Virginia. The cabin is beautiful and the campground well maintained.

Many of the sites are very unlevel. Requested site by shower building which are the levelest. Was told they were already reserved. No one ever used them. There is a conference room in same building as showers. People at conference park blocking some sites. Labeled dog area is a steep hill and totally unsuitable for dog walking. The best thing about this campground is the convenience of being right off the highway

Sites close together, limited shade if any at all. Paid extra for the shady sites near the cabin, but the premium sites aren’t any better. We’ll stick with the state park campgrounds next time.

We stayed 1 night. Campsite was unlevel. Bathhouse had 2 showers. While, there was plenty of water pressure, I wasnt able to get hot water until hubby turned off his shower. The lock on the bathhouse door needs worked on or replacing....hard to open.

We have stayed at this park many times over the last 5 years, mostly in the lower level spaces for 1 to 4 nights each time.This time due to managers giving preference to a company renting long term we were sent to the highest upper level of the park.I was told the area has had a lot of rain recently and despite management knowing this and knowing that the spaces needed work they have done nothing.After nearly burying my rv up to the axles in mud I moved to an adjacent space that was higher and dryer without ruts and mud (site 23).I told the desk person that the spot they wanted to put me in was not usable for larger rvs as he thought they were. I also told him sites 23 and 24 needed work before being used again and he said maintenance would look at it. (Day 1)That was three days ago and nothing has been done to correct the ruts and they keep renting the spaces out to overnight customers.The spaces have a great view and all, but if youre not used to steep roads getting to this part of the park and leaving it could scare the average RVer into thinking twice about staying here.All the lower level spaces are typically very usable and in good repair. I can only assume that they dont want to spend any more than they have to maintaining the upper level.The attached photo shows the ruts in space 24 which needs filling before someone buries their RV in deeper than they can pull it out from. I mentioned this and space 25 to the front desk 4 days ago, but nothing has yet been done to make it usable. Tonight (night 4 of our stay) They sent people with a 45 foot ClassA up to park in the space, which easily would have had to be towed out and likely at the owners expense.Its appear the people scheduling these spots have no clue about the space and maneuvering needs are for large ClassA and 5th wheel RVs. Worse yet they have multiple lower level spaces open that are much better suited for overnight stays compared to these upper level long term sites from H___!I would love to add personal notes about the staff or company running this place, but I dont know them or what they think so I will refrain from voicing my opinion about them personally.

Breakfast 6am-9. Awesome for over night.

This is a KOA in name only. Unless you are just staying one night/passing through dont bother.

Roads are tight broke a leveling jack going down hill. Sites are level.

The place to be. Always a good time
