I was a project engineer in construction of 370mw plant in utran. Have many good memories with this plant. Swiss tech. GT26 turbine one of the most efficient at that time. Milestones like acid wash motor roll and commercial operation were much motivating. I would love to visit it once more. Particularly Offsite switch gear building. My first HT transformer 19BFT10. Potable water plant. OTC pump. Etc.

Utran Gas Based Power Station is located at bank of Tapi River near Surat city, in Surat district in the Indian state of Gujarat. The power plant is one of the gas based power plant.The old power plant build in British time was destroyed and a new one is more effectively contribute towards nation growth and give opportunity to new talent.

This plant now around resident area so whistle blowing system for time alertness is harassing to around living/resident people so plant operator/manager should have to change this system or continue with use SLOW volume for blowing this whistle..

Inside the power plant there is school, Primary health care and the post Office. The power plant is one of the gas based power plants of Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited. It is not working right now. Government uses this power plant as a reinforcement of power which is coming far from here.I lived nearby of this plant. It has like 6 units which can generate power upto 510MW but the power plant lastly run in 2009 after that power plant is no more generating power just transforming it.
