On the Chakla Bazaar road leading onto Ved Road, one comes across this magnificient mausoleum where Khudawand Khan, Governor of Surat in 1546,lies buried. This place is among some of the most popular places in Surat having historical importance. As a consequence of continuous piratical raids by the Portuguese in the city of Surat, the city was experiencing a dark time which was tackled by the then Governor of Surat, Khudawand Khan. The tomb is beautiful and is made using Islamic caricature and architecture. There is a plaque with information about the life of Khudawand Khan near the tomb. But it needs care and maintenance as its condition in ruining. Timings are from sunrise to sunset.

Heritage site...the only Indo-Iranian style architecture of Surat. Rojo is where Masjid (mosque) n Dargah exist together at one site.Built by then Surat governor Rajab Rumikhan during the reign of Sultan Ahmed Shah III. Khwajasafar Salmani alias Khudawindkhana was father of Rajab Rumikhan. It still has its historical grandeur in its architecture.A must visit for every Surti and heritage site admirer.

This is a tomb of a general in the army of the King of Surat built in 1540. The stone carvings of this exquisite structure and intricate jali work all around the walls of the building are worth seeing. The main tomb is on the left side towards the centre of the building.

Historical place and has a great good looking structure overall. But we, the surtis dont look back in history too much, we do not even try to peep in past if it has no impact on us personally.🀣So many places we have with good historical memories but we dont care too much.We respect all the cultures Incl Hindu, Muslim, Jain, Parsi, Sikh, etc. But we too have our own culture called Happy people by not caring too muchAnd this is what makes us one of the carelessly happiest people in the whole country and world itself..!Proud to be Surti. ❀️

Mohammed Khodabendeh or Khudaband, also known as Mohammed Shah or Sultan Mohammed (Persian: Ψ΄Ψ§Ω‡ Ω…ΨΩ…Ψ― Ψ§Ψ―Ψ§Ψ¨Ω†Ψ―Ω‡, born 1532; 1595 or 1596; death), [1] from 1578 to 1587 by his son Abbas I. Was the Shah of Persia. He was the fourth Safavid Shah of Iran and his brother, Ismail II. Khodabanda was the son of Shah Thamasya e Turcoman mother, Sultanum Begum Mawsillu, [2] and grandson of Ismail I, founder of the Safavid dynastyAfter his fathers death in 1576, Mohammed was passed in favor of his younger brother Ismail II. Mohammed suffered an eye sore that made him almost blind, and therefore could not contend for the throne according to Persian royal culture. [3] However, Mohammed emerged as the sole successor after Ismail IIs brief and bloody reign, and therefore 15ash. In the Qizilbash tribes, the Shah became the support.Mohammeds reign was marked by the continued weakness of the crown and tribal incursions as part of the second civil war of the Safavid era. [7] An important figure in the early years of Mohammeds reign was his wife Khair al-Nisa Begum, who helped secure her husbands reign. [3] However his efforts to consolidate the central power brought about the opposition of powerful Qizilbash tribes, who were murdered in 15 murders. Mohammed is described as a man of refined taste but a weak character. [1] As a result, factionalism was characterized by Mohammeds reign, with the dominant tribes aligning themselves with Mohammeds sons and future heirs. This internal anarchy allowed foreign powers, especially the rival and neighboring, to take territorial advantage, including the conquest of the old capital of Tabrez in 1585. Mohammed was eventually overthrown in favor of his son Shah Abbas I.
