The Gyoza, fried scallops were delicious. The sushi rolls fantastic, and OMG the shrimp tempura and avocado roll, topped with salmon and masago, drizzled with mango sauce is and I mean IS best roll I have had in awhile. The combination is perfection!!!

Ive been coming to this wonderful restaurant for over twenty years, and its truly just getting better with age! Their staff is kind and attentive and their chefs are fantastic at what they do! Everything is DELICIOUS from their Soft Shelled Crab; which is accompanied by the most wonderful house made dipping sauce, to their unique sushi rolls, perfectly sliced sashimi and absolutely outstanding egg custard tamago! Dont forget a tempura fried green tea ice cream to finish out your memorable meal!

4.5 Stars. Best tempura Ive ever had and amazing dumplings, you can really see the skills of this place shine through in every category. The sushi is also outstanding, and is what I would recommend should you come here. Finally, the prices are high but not too ridiculous and they are definitely worth it. A good atmosphere and great service is the final touch and earns this place the 4.5 star rating.

I want to rate it higher but my party wasnt that happy with the service, price, and food. I hate to admit the service could have been better. Our server forgot to ask us for our beverages so we just ordered our entrees and two beers. We thought maybe our server would give us water at least when the beer came. When we realized we werent going to get our water we asked for it. Quality was good and atmosphere was what you think a standard Monday would be. I liked the sushi but sometimes too much wasabi in the nirigizushi. This is not your all you can eat sushi. Dont expect that or even compare to it. The quality of the food was good. I definitely would come back but with a different party.

I had this order delivered to me through Postmates. Wait time was over an hour even when ordered later at night (around 6:25 PM CT).The food overall had some nice flavor, but for the price and portion size, I do not think it’s worth it. The assorted sushi was nice and refreshing. The sushi contained raw fish, keep that in mind. The ginger for the sashimi is pretty mild and not pungent. A little bit of the wasabi goes a long long way (just don’t try to eat the whole wasabi at one time or you’ll be coughing up a storm haha)! For the shrimp and vegetable tempura, the batter fried shrimp was tasty and crispy and the batter fried vegetables were interesting and fine, but probably could of done without the batter. The cooked salmon had a delicious grill flavor to it! The side broccoli was cold and had very little flavor. The side sauces were average and nothing special. Ultimately, from trying my first Bento Box, I expected much better and didn’t live up to what I’d imagine that item would be like.I’d probably look into getting a menu item that is more oriented to sushi/sashimi if I were to order here the next time. Altogether, it wasn’t a horrible meal for my 23rd Birthday dinner!

We got takeout sushi and sashimi from here tonight. Overall, it was fine, but not great. The prices are definitely set for downtown, game night traffic. The Sashimi seemed skimpy for the price. Cuts were very inconsistent. Did not like a couple types of the fish, but we did go with chefs choice.RollsLawson-good texture, nice flavor, but didnt really match the description shown, no eel sauce present.Spicy tuna- decent, but not outstanding by any means. Not rolled the best, pretty loose, super large chunks of tuna though,.Miso soup was pretty tasty. We will probably go back sometime when we feel comfortable dining out, but dont think we will get takeout again.

Sakura is my favorite restaurant in Saint Paul. They recently changed the menu(not sure if temporary or permanent), so from what I can tell it looks there’s no more vegetarian bento box or appetizers, which is a big bummer. I’m sure they have good reason for changing it up though, and the new menu looks really tasty if you eat meat (and fish, obviously). I think there are still some vegetarian options (vegetable tempura!) which is nice. The staff is always so so friendly and helpful, and the quality of food is so good, Sakura will always get five stars and high recommendations from me.

This was my first time here on business. Many of the locals told me they had the best sushi in the area. I arrived here single around 3pm for a late lunch or early dinner. The place was empty at the time. The owner came over to talk with me and recommended the sushi. I started with my favorite Asahi Super Dry draft beer for $5.50. I ordered the Sakura sushi lunch special, which included mizo soup, ginger salad and mixed sushi for $22. I really enjoyed my sushi here. The mizo soup was ok. I have enjoyed better ginger salad. I feel their ginger salad dressing was lacking. Sorry to be so specific and picky, but, I have been to Japan so many times. I enjoy a good ginger salad. Taka served my table well. My total bill was $30 less gratuities. Overall my experience here was favorable, therefore, I will return again for some more good sushi.

Didnt really seem necessary to make us move. Once the other party arrived it was clear the move was more for their convenience than ours as we wouldnt have been in the way. Best sushi in the twin cities! Period. Nothing in the cities comes closer to traditional Japanese cuisine than this place. My family has been going there for 20 years and, if anything, the quality has only gotten better. The waitstaff, bartenders, cooks, and sushi chefs are amongst some of the kindest and most welcoming faces around St. Paul! Love Sakura, been going here for almost 17 years now. Best Sushi and Service in MN. My family and I have tried other sushi restaurants in the twin cities but nothing compares. It was the hardest 9 months for my wife when she couldn’t eat sushi when she was pregnant with out daughter. After having her one of the first things my wife wanted was Sakura Sushi. Even had friends pick it up and bring it to the hospital. LoL. Our daughter has been going here since she was born and loves trying certain pieces of sushi, fish, and rice.So many special rolls too, not just your everyday sushi. Been going through the MN Wild list of sushi rolls for a couple of years now. Our favorite is the spicy salmon avocado hand roll. So good. Will be placing a online ToGo order this weekend to support Sakura during these social distance times.Thank you Sakura for always welcoming us with open arms.

Bartender was busying himself with other things. The manager came out at one point and asked if we were being helped. Said were waiting on food and she brought it right out.
