We are never disappointed when we visit Jahangir. This was our first visit in a long time and we thoroughly enjoyed our family meal.Ali and Archie welcome us like old friends. Our food was fresh and full of flavour, cant wait until next time.

Dont know how to take orders, couple of dishes missed while writing d order. Take too much of time to Prepare Orders. Finally, if u paid the order in advance, then only Almighty will take care of ur order. Arrogant due to over busy. Stuff is OK, not very delicious. Dont know how to make daal.

4 stars for the staff.No stars for the under par food.I wish someone could surprise us with a delicious curry lunch somewhere in Edinburgh or Fife. I can remember only 2 in my time. Today it was processed veg in my vegetable curry. Really? I hate having a meal that I could make better at home with a jar from my cupboard. Where are the passionate makers of food out there? I know things have been tough but come on guys! A lunch deal showcases what you can do.

Excellent restaurant - great food, even better staff! Also really good at fishing out mobile phones that customers have stupidly dropped down the back of a radiator and can’t get out. Life savers ;)

Food was delish, however serving a vegetarian starter with strips of chicken just should never happen.

Visited last night with friends for our anniversary meal. We wont be making a return visit. Not even a nod made to social distancing here and some staff did not wear masks. Ventilation is poor in this long, narrow place and the noise level was extreme. An error was made with my meal, instead of chicken Pasanda as ordered they brought a chickpea dish. Person who took order told me I didnt pronounce Pasanda properly and argued the point very rudely! Really? Have ordered many times and managed to say the word properly up to now. Very arrogant man! Got what I ordered, good indifferent to say the least. Wont return.

Visited here on a busy Saturday night. Great atmosphere and excellent service. The food was some of the best Indian food we have ever tasted. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Good value pre theatre menu, good service with the notable exception of being charged nearly £8 for plastic bottle of water! Come on guys, I know you need to make a profit but that is crazy. Felt ripped off, which is a shame as otherwise decent meal.Will go back but order tap water next time!

We walked in here without a booking on a Saturday evening. An unpretentious shopfront opened into a mad busy restaurant. We were welcomed and they found a seat for the two of us very quickly. A fabulous meal was served promptly. Wed go back again for sure.

Revisited tonight after many years and they still serve fantastic food with great service - just as I remember from years ago when I was a regular. High on my list of favourite restaurants anywhere.

Staff were friendly. We as family thoroughly enjoy indian quisine, however this was very dissapointing, meal was over powered by salt - Not spices - i will most definetly not be back…. Was more dissapointed as i based my decision on reviews before purchasing.

Very disappointing. I really believe my 11 year old daughter could have produced a better curry. I noticed a number of good reviews and can only believe these other people have never tasted a decent curry. The staff were very nice but will not rush back!

One of the best tandoor restaurants I have ever been to. the food was amazing worth making the long journey to Glasgow for cant wait to go back. Staff are also very friendly and attentive. If you love good food give this place a try!

Always great friendly service and delicious food

Could be good food but they do not know how to make a reservation. They do not know how to handle a reservation. We called at 8pm, reserved a table for 9pm, which was accepted. Went in 3 times from 8:55pm to 9:15pm but was repeatedly told to wait despite making a reservation. On our final entry they denied our reservation and once again told us to wait, which was half an hour after our reservation. This was a problem as there were people waiting outside at 8:45pm when we arrived out on the street. They were all obviously seated. Abysmal.

Wonderful dinner here a couple of days ago. Very friendly and prompt service.I ordered the salmon dish cooked to perfection with aubergine in a fragrant sauce. Truly delicious... I would never have paired salmon with aubergine, but it worked really well. The other dish we ordered was Tandoori Fish, marinaded and simply prepared with accompanying sauce. Also quite delicious. Attentive , helpful waiters... really did enjoy this dinner... highly recommended.

Great grub served here

Food is always good here, but go at the weekend, and you can wait a while for your meal.Staff are friendly, and when I didnt eat my meal, as it was spicy, they made me something else to take home.Downside is parking, St Andrews is a busy university town.And getting booked here at the times you want is difficult, as it is s small restaurant.

We were in St Andrews for my sons 10th birthday. He wanted to go to the home of golf. He chose the Jahangir for his birthday meal and it was fantastic. All of our meals were delicious, my chicken kebab... wow . The staff really looked after us and made my son feel very special. Thank u. See you in a couple of years when we come again.

Just had a lovely meal on new years eve. Very busy tonight but quickly seated and drinks orders taken promptly. Very extensive menu lots of interesting and different mains. All served quickly all very tasty , not a crumb was left by 4 happy people. Very reasonably priced . Will definitely make a return.

Wonderful service and food, great experience all round

After being recommended this restaurant from a number of friends and then checking the reviews online, my partner and I could not wait to visit. We popped in mid day and made a reservation for that evening. The food was superb. But, upon visiting the toilet half way through my meal, I was shocked to find a gentleman washing his arm pits and feet in the only available sink, leaving the toilet floor a wash with water, hair around the sink and me unable to wash my hands! I asked to speak to a manager as this was unacceptable and very unhygienic for the paying customers of the restaurant. After a lengthy discussion with management they came to the conclusion that this was not in there control. They claimed that this was not a member of staff but was a member of the public who had come in for a takeaway. This gentleman had never been present in the restaurant nor did he leave restaurant via the customers entrance/exit during service-which would indicate to us that he was in fact a member of staff. The full bill was then issued to us and for the principle we paid it in full. We were shocked and utterly disgusted that the manager then walked away from us mid-conversation and wasn’t interested in speaking to us after they had received our payment. In my option, this is not the way any restaurant should be run. DO NOT GO!

Food good but very rude staff who did not let us take our excess food away and decided it was better to throw it away than let us take home the leftovers. They decided to argue with us when we explained this. Totally shocking in this day and age to see them wasting so much food. Will not be recommending!

The lunch meals are good value for the price. You get more than enough to be filled and it’s decent. The food isn’t anything special though. A lot of the dishes are quite one dimensional without the typical garnishing and spices that characterize Indian cuisine in a lot of other establishments. I wouldn’t bother coming here for dinner and I’m not particularly interested in returning for lunch either. If you are a foodie and looking for great food, you’re better off going somewhere else. If you’re looking for a cheap filling meal, come here.

The menu looks like a standard curry house. But the food is unbelievably good. I had one of the best meals of my life. The bread is superb; the food delicious. Even the humble onion bhaji was full of flavour and perfectly presented with just the right tamarind chutney to set it off. Nice ambience, friendly and efficient service.

Nice place, great food. Excellent Samosas - best Ive eaten in a long time. I had Sag Paneer and Chapati, pretty good.

Went for quick work lunch. All 5 of us choose from the 3 course lunch menu each picking something different. Meals were all very flavorful and a good portion size.Happily recommend and we will be back.

This is the best for most people and large groups. They dont mind visitors coming every day, if they wanted to come. A very Scottish Indian restaurant style and service - as the dishes arent at all traditional for India but follow a UK style. Staff arent very nice, proud and get hurt easily but fine if no difficulty is caused by asking about cooking style. What we do in London is disliked in St Andrews. Just make it easy for these guys and enjoy. 😋

Great Naan, Curries n Service...

Staff were really friendly. Madras was amazing (had a bit of sweat on). Everyone enjoyed their meal. Coffees afterwards were good. Irish coffee got me back to ground level. :)Awesome place to eat in the town.

The Jahangir is fantastic place to eat, the staff are very helpful and friendly (Archie gets a special mention)Ive been coming to St Andrews for about 10years now I always try to visit the Jahangir as often as I can and would highly recommend it.

Came in for a quiet Christmas meal with friends and ordered from the matinée menu. 3 courses for £13.95 and it was absolutely amazing.The service was efficient and the waiters were very polite while still having banter.Very small restaurant compared to Dundees, bit still has the koy fish pond and a clear glass walkway which is cool, if not a little unnerving! There are steps to get down to the restaurant and across to the toilets so its definitely not suitable for anyone with mobility issues.Went on the Friday before Christmas (and pay day) and there were only 3 other tables in at 6.30pm. didnt realise St Andrews was so desolate without the golfers and students! Will go back again outside of term and summer time.

Great food and service. Well looked after and great value for money

First visit to the Jahangir Tandoori in St Andrews, and my wife and I were not disappointed. 2 x Veg pakoora , chicken kurma, tandoori mixed grill. Nan bread and dupatis. Everything was fantastic. We booked a table for 17.30 and there were already 4-5 tables occupied, and only became busier. Well worth the visit, will visit again.

A favourite of ours, friendly Restaurant great menu and staff very happy to help with choices, 8 of us had lunch yesterday, and everyone enjoyed their meal. Due to road works we were 35 mins late, but not a problem, we were looked after well with Archie and staff.

Not the nicest of atmospheres, but the food is delicious, with big sized starters and vegan options available.

Have visited this restaurant once every week since January. The food is excellent with plenty of choices. Staff are always very friendly and acknowledge you everything. Head waiter Archy is class and seam to remember everyone that has visited previously.

Staying in St Andrews this week with our caravan and went to visit family staying at St Andrew Holiday Lodge’s last night. We got a take away from this restaurant and it was one of the best Indian meals we’ve ever had! It was also piping hot which we’ve never had with a take away-normally have to pop it in oven to heat it up! Will certainly look forward to visiting the restaurant for a meal.

Sorry to say we wont be using this for takeaway we were at caravan park and for £5 local deliver I expected to at least a delivery to our door but not the case.

I don’t usually bother giving reviews about restaurants and dining out normally, however after my second time eating at this establishment I feel I need to give it the cudos it deserves. It is by far the best Indian cuisine that I have tasted. Being a non meat eater I don’t alway have great expectations as to what is put in front of me. The vegetarian dish that I was presented with was full of flavour and I could tell that there was great skill in the combination of spices and the way different vegetables had been put together with expertise. The perfectly cooked aubergine was the icing on the cake and being one of my favourite vegetables I know it is not the easiest of ingredients to get right. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through st Andrew’s. Being a manager myself I could tell there was very good organised team work to keep a busy place running seamlessly efficiently and attentive to all the customers. Look forward to my next meal there.

We booked a table but they appeared to have overbooked. We waited outside for 1/2hr The restaurant looked very full. We left as it looked like we wouldnt get a table for a while.

Unmissable if you love a curry when in St Andrews. I requested each time for my curry to be made extra hot and I got exactly that. The decor is nice, not overly done and the staff are nice enough. My fav restaurant out of the 4 I have tried in St Andrews.
