Group of Holy divine pious temples at Sringeri.
The temple is maintained very neat and tidy. The architecture of the temple tower is great and looks very nice. The structure is as per vedic styles, prevailing in southindia. There were priests, with vedic knowledge, conducting various ceremonies pertaining to the temple poojas etc. This temple was crowded. There was a aksharabhysa for young kids getting solemnised in front of the deity, when we visited the temple.
Sringeri Sri Sharadamba temple which belongs to Chikmagalur district has well connection to reach from various parts of Karnataka. A drive from Chikmagalur-Balehonnur-Sringeri is just around 98KMs and its a breathtaking view and curvy roads where you can enjoy driving. Temple closes by 2PM and reopens at 4PM. So plan your trip acordingly so that you can visit Horanadu, Kalasa as well to complete a one day trip to temples.
Śri Śringerī Mutt, as the Pītham is referred to in common parlance, is situated on the banks of the Tuṅgā River in Śringerī. The Mutt complex consists of shrines on both the northern and southern banks of the river. The three prominent shrines on the northern bank of the Tunga are dedicated to the presiding deity of the Pītham and the divinity of Ātma-vidyā - Śrī Śāradā,Śrī Ādi Śaṅkara, and Jagadguru Śrī Vidyāśankara Tīrtha, the 10th Jagadguru of the Pītham. The southern bank houses the residence of the reigning pontiff, the adhisthānam shrines of the previous pontiffs and the Sadvidyā Sañjīvini Samskrita Mahāpāthashālā.

Sringeri Temple or Sringeri Sharada Peetham is located in Karnataka. It is the first of the four Ammaya Peetham established by Sri Adi Shankaracharya in 8th century. The word Amnaya Peetham means “Throne of the Veda”. The head of the Mutt is Jagadguru meaning “Teacher of the world”. Best Temple in Karnatak 🙏 Must visit with family. One of the top temple and very famous temple.
The town is also known as Sringeri Sharda Peetham and it has a 1200 year- old temple located there, located 3.2 kms (10 mins) from the city outskirts. It is believed that Adi Shankaracharya chose the site to stay and teach his disciples and impressed with his place, he stayed here for twelve years. The Vidyashankara temple was built in commemoration of the pontiff Vidyashankara, around 1357-58 C.E.. It was built by Vidyaranya, patron-saint of Harihara and Bukka, the brothers who founded the Vijayanagara empire. The niches in the temple have a number of sculptures from Hindu mythology.

This is the first Peetha established by Guru and Swamy Adi Shankara, it is having more than 1200 years history (from 800 AD). I got to meet guru Bharathi Teertha Mahaswami in the evening around 6 PM at his GURU NIVAS, any one can visit and take blessing if he is available at temple. One need to know about long history it has and about Adi Shankaracharya and reasons he initiated first peetham in India from here. One can know view and learn about Hindu traditions and culture at this place. Try to spend some time and know what all are the reasons, it became so popular.Devi temple and Lord Shiva temple are next to side by side. once after stepping into temple surroundings I felt like need not to think of out side world.
Nice place. I must like it.
Superb architecture and nice place to spend time. If you are travelling from Hornadu then avoid taking shortest route shown by Google Map

Its a place where consciousness beat the rules of nature. Its was the creation of adi shankaracharyas effort and capability. Sringeri also called Sri Kshetra Shringeri is a hill town and Taluk headquarters located in Chikkamagaluru district in the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the site of the first maṭha established by Adi Shankara, Hindu theologian and exponent of the Advaita Vedanta philosophy, in the 8th century CE. Temple timings is changed due to COVID-19, now Sri Sharadamba Temple will be open from 8AM to 12PM and 5PM to 8PM. Plan accordingly. No where it is mentioned in the website other than a notice stating Limited Public Darshan till further notice. Really felt very bad about the administration which maintains the website.
Very nice and energy place
Very good Temple
You may find peace only because of the way they kept environment in proper and sophisticated manner
They have started serving lunch again (after it was shut as per covid protocol).
Sharadamba Temple, SringeriSri Sharadamba Temple and Adi Shankara Temple are in one place. This temple is 8th century temple which was built by Adi Shankaracharya excellently and very big in Hoysala style architecture. The present temple is recently built in 20th century after a fire mishap. Next to this temple is Vidyashankara Temple built by Vidyaranya in 14th century and worth a visit. It is built in Hoysala & Vijayanagara style with 12 pillars indicating 12 zodiac sign. Both the temples are built on the banks of river Tunga. The old temple is a connoisseurs delight with awesome sculpture and lovely weathered stone. The river has large fish and the water is pristine clean.Just take the bridge and cross over to the Swamijis abode. The gardens here are verdant and the birdsong was a joy to listen. The temple is clean and the alankara to the Goddess is awe-inspiring. This place has religious touch and very calm. You also get free food at afternoon at Sringeri Mutt / Sringeri Sharada Peetham which was very tasty (do not miss this)There were 2 elephants which you can see and get blessings of them. You can even take picture with them.Never miss an opportunity to visit the river to feed beautiful fishes.HUMBLE REQUEST TO THE VISITORS, DO NOT THROW THE PLASTIC, BOTTLES OR OTHER GARBAGE. TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN.
