The Temple is situated on the back side of Shri Chakreshwari Sharika Devi Temple on the Hari Parbat hillock. It lies on the road that connects the Sangeen Darwaza in Hawal to the Kathi Darwaza near Gurudwara Chathi Padshahi. Only a couple of metres ahead is the Badamwari garden (almond orchid). As the name suggests, this Temple was once a family the family heritage of Kouls in Kashmir who had to leave it behind after being forced to migrate during the unfortunate events of 1989. The Temple is currently under the supervision of the Shree Durganag Trust, but there is a family that lives in a house that shares the garden with the Temple. A lady from the family let us inside and she told us that this Temple is perhaps more than 200 years old (could not be confirmed or authenticated) and that two generations of the family have been looking after it. The door that leads into the yard seems like a very old wooden frame that has been chipped on the edges but still intact and sturdy. Over the door is a steel shutter that rolls down and it was installed recently by the Trust to guard the Temple since there were incidents of attack on the Temple. Once inside, you can see that the Temple structure itself has been renovated with proper cementing and doesnt look very old. There is a cemented platform on all of its sides and this platform is covered by a wooden structure on all the sides. However, as one steps inside the Temple, its old foundations are revealed. Inside is a wooden cabinet that has been painted over in clean white but the facade looks very old indeed. The tiny compartments and drawers of this wooden cabinet show exactly how old wooden cabinets in those centuries old Kashmiri houses would look like. This Temple unlike the others I have seen in the valley did not have remnants of the worship of only one diety, which kind of enforces the fact that it was a private Temple run by a family. I could easily identify Idols of Lord Ganesha, A Linga of Lord Shiva, Idols of Lord Ram and Goddess Sita and right outside the compound was a very old Gandhhara Styled rock carving, which appears to have a carved figurine of Lord Hanuman.
