We stayed at a hotel just nearby so we ended up at this place, its a beautiful spot overlooking the busy city. Looks so Royal and splendidly decorated. People cn come for relaxing and spending quality time.

Couldnt believe it was a bridge but seemed like a sightseeing place. Its an old wooden arch bridge connecting Sonwar with Rajbagh in Srinagar.The bridge was setup in 1950 and is now used as a Centre of attraction for tourists. No vehicles are allowed on this bridge and you can only walk over it.

Its a picturesque and marvelous pedestrian bridge over jhelum River, very well decorated with the local wooden art and architecture.Must go early in the morning to enjoy breathtaking beauty of Srinagar and nature photography.

Good place to hangout in evening. One can sit (benches are available) and relax and enjoy lip smacking food too. Eateries are available at the entry point. No charges to enter the bridge. Evening/Night view is very beautiful, it all lights up.

Originally constructed within the late Nineteen Fifties beneath the then top minister Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad, the bridge became closed for vehicular site visitors inside the overdue 1980s as a result of the weakening of its wooden shape.The Zero Bridge remains the primary bridge downstream of the Jhelum while getting into the Srinagar town and the next upstream crossing is positioned near Pantha Chowk in the town outskirts. At present, the vintage wood structure of the bridge is being replaced by a brand new one, retaining the original structure and the bridge could stay a pedestrian crossing and a history web page. The vehicular visitors is presently handled with the aid of the Abdullah Bridge, positioned kind of two hundred metres downstream.

At present, the old wooden structure of the bridge is being replaced by a new one, preserving the original architecture and the bridge would continue to be a pedestrian crossing and a heritage site. One of the beautiful relaxing place. But one thing I found was that some people break the beautiful structures around just to misbehave for mischievous activities. I mean just have that social sense, at least present yourself civilized society infront of others because several tourists happen to be around here. I mean civilized people even contribute their own for such beautiful spots but we people even dont respect our own Artistry. What the hell has happen to we people???

My recent visit to this historical bridge was mesmerizing. The moment i reached there, it started raining heavily & the view river jhelum was showcasing at that time was treat to watch. The feeling was so intense, i felt as if i was on a river bank in the heaven. Was breath taking for me & a lifetime moment.

This stunning pedestrian wooden bridge spanning the River Jhelum has that warmth and old-Kashmiri character. It is also easy access for pedestrians to cross the River between Rajbagh and Sonwar. There are small wooden huts with benches along the length of the bridge. You can get a takeaway from one of the food stalls at the north end of the bridge and enjoy your meal in the wooden huts. Although it might be difficult to find a spot during weekends or in the evenings.

Good hangout place in Srinagar but can be a bit well maintained.

This bridge has been renovated and turned into a foot bridge. Small huts are constructed on the bridge for people to watch over the river jehlum. Road towards the bridge is occupied by Indian forces who allow only LMVs and may frisk you at times. They close the entry from that side after evening.

I recently went here and it was my absolute joy to see the way it has been renovated after what it had been kept in...As many hotels are nearby and a view of jehlum it is a place to be (during evening in summer) mostly...it is made with brilliant architecture mostly of wood .....now the people & the govt should take good care of it....as the paint work has been degraded due to rain (i guess)....also some hotels are nearby to take good care of our appetite....
