Was definitely surprised at how small the Lobster Roll was at first glance but taking a bite into it proved otherwise. Filled with lobster and the fries were crisped perfectly! Definitely be back as the service was super friendly too.Hot tip, don’t forget to try the bread and butter!

We LOVE this place!! The oysters are very fresh and great variety. This might be my all time favorite clam chowder. I actually got another bowl for “dessert”. Super friendly staff, great service and nice assortment of wine and cocktails custom made to order. Everything on the menu is wonderful. My only suggestion is to include bread at no charge to mop up that yummy mussel sauce. Chef came out to say hello and we enjoyed the personal touch. Can’t wait to come back!

Weekend away with friends in Toronto and so glad we decided on John & Sons for dinner. From the moment we walked in, the staff were friendly and inviting. The food was next level and also have to mention the drinks. The quality of the drinks was phenomenal. 10 out of 10 recommended and will definitely be back next time were in Toronto.

Our dining experience was impeccable!Our server Coco was very knowledgeable and made excellent recommendations for food and helped us pick a wonderful bottle of wine that suited all our tastes. Service was prompt and attentive all night, even while the restaurant was very busy.The food was phenomenal. The quality of our oysters was beyond anything I’ve had before. I’m normally not a huge fan of oysters and found myself eating a dozen to myself.Some other stand out items were:The Tuna Tartare- very fresh and the wonton chips were made to perfection. The balance of both was perfect.Fish tacos- excellent flavour and the haddock was cooked very well. Perfectly flaky and crisp on the outsideScallop Risotto- excellent flavour and the scallops were very well cooked.I will definitely be back and can’t wait to try more.

The recommended casual fish house did not disappoint with the food. The welcoming was warm and friendly. The venue is small and intimate with many quiet conversations being had. Reminded me of a place just outside of Halifax Nova Scotia.

Very busy for workday lunch. Food was very good, including the fried sardines and the lobster roll. The lobster roll is presented with lobster flowing out the top - to actually eat it you need to stuff it back into the bread yourself.

Well what a great lunch we just had. A delicious dozen East coast oysters. French Kiss and Lucky Lime. plump and tasty with a smack of brine. Very nice selection of condiments. Two glasses of super tasty French Chablis followed up by Haddock tacos and the Blackened haddock burger. delicious fries to compliment the dish.Warm and friendly service and probably one of the best lunches weve had this year.Thanks 🙂👍🙂

Burrata was dry and flavorless. Taco wraps were raw and crumbly. Bad coffee. Not worth the trip. Also expensive.

Great place for cheap oysters; $1.50 for happy hour oysters M-F 3-6. Prosecco, draft, and wine are also on the happy hour agenda. Oysters come with a variety of dressing sauce, my favorite is the chili which actually has a decent kick, 4/5 (hot Cheetos are about 1/10 on my level of spicy was for reference). Service is so so and can be extremely slow after 4pm so be prepared to wait. The vide is casual and can get loud. I didn’t try anything else beside the oysters so I can’t comment on other foods.

Great food, not much selection but whatever they specialize in is great!! Prices are a bit higher. $25 for fish and chips! And apps are in the 20s range as well.

Good food and drinks. Actually was lucky enough to find a pearl in one of the oysters there last night. I also strongly recommend their lobster roll. It actually comes with nice chunks of lobster in it and served on top of a well seasoned and warm bread.

Hard to find, slow table service and limited but overpriced food. Dinner for 3, mid-menu pricing w/no alcohol (in fact, water all the way) =$137. Fish and chips swimming in cooking oil. Person behind bar was smelling each oyster she shucked. Ironically steak frites was the best meal at the table. Took forever to get check. Cozy, and probably good for a drink after work.

This place is a gem! My girlfriend and I made reservations to visit before the ballet this past week and I must say we were not disappointed. It is cozy with an incredible atmosphere. We were running late due to traffic and they were still warm and welcoming with our seats ready and addressed by name. Ryan is the gentleman in the photo shucking the oysters. He made the experience 5 star in my opinion. I can not wait for my next visit. Top notch.

Fantastic food! Absolutely delicious! The tuna carpaccio was incredible and so was the seafood tajine. Even the limoncello dessert was to die for. The place is pretty, simple and elegant. Not too loud, nice little music. Good service. Its definitely expensive but worth it and their summerlicious menu is awesome and affordable. Highly recommend!

The Haddock fish and chips were delicious.

This place was hopping and I know why! The oysters were good and handled well but what a wonderful twist on the calamari! It came beautifully done in lettuce cups to give you the ability to eat it with the great sauces like a wrap if you like. Ambience was good, vibrant, real. Great spot for a night with friends or business peers. Small so get in early or make reservations.

We ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell. They were served along with three different dressings and a hot spice so you could dress them to your taste. They were delicious! I ordered the scallop dinner with risotto and was very pleased. My partner had the fish & chips which she said were good, but would have preferred the scallops after she tasted them. The service was very good, the food was too. I strongly recommend making reservations if you want to eat here any day of the week.

I have been to this hidden gem on Temperance numerous times over the years. Perfect for a taste of east coast food and hospitality within steps of Bay Street. In my experience a great choice to host out-of-town business guests for a casual meal, perfect for a pre-game or concert meal, and has been an absolute “go-to” for a night out with friends. As someone who lived on West Coast for more than 5 years, I still prefer the West Coast Oyster they offer instead of East Coast ones (yet there is no doubt that both are fresh and delicious). Daily Offers of oysters are random, and the pricing is acceptable. Try the lobster poutine, it is a great dish.

We decided to give John & Sons a shot since it was within earshot of our hotel and the menu seemed enticing with good prices. Walking in, the vibe was very East Coast, exactly what I had hoped an oyster bar would look like!We began by ordering a round of half a dozen oysters to try them out before committing, but after a little spice, it became clear we were going all out. We ordered an English Style Clam Chowder, some simple Bread and Butter, to die for Smelts, along with some drinks, and almost three dozen oysters. With a wide selection of oysters from various regions ranging between the East and West Coast, each oyster had its own distinct flavour.Regarding service, the waiter and waitress seeing our table were very attentive and overall great. The waiter in particular was very friendly and easygoing; he also knew what seemed to be a great deal about oysters by explaining why some oysters tasted the way they did due to the type of ocean theyre from (he hypothesizes, at least).Overall, we were very impressed by both the food and service and were honestly surprised given its tucked away location off Bay Street. When visiting Toronto, we highly recommend visiting John & Sons Oyster House. We will definitely be returning here when back in town!

My wife and I had dinner there before we went to see Bob Seger. Great place! The food was really good, we had the lobster poutine and lobster sliders for appetizers where very good, also had some oysters and where awesome. My wife had the Thai seafood salad and I had the Fish and Chips ,very impressed with the food. Staff was great, very friendly. Looking forward to our next visit there. Highly recommend!!

I went here for after work drinks with a friend and we both loved it! We shared a dozen oysters and two small plates, which was plenty for a cocktail hour bite. The shrimp sliders and tuna tartare are both amazing. They also have an oyster happy hour, with $1.50 low-tide oysters. Nice atmosphere and attentive service.

After lingering at the doorway for a few minutes, we were directed to the bar. We had a kir royale and a glass of red wine. With tip, our $50 total was steeper than expected.

Recently visited John & Sons on a day trip to Toronto. The place is a bit tricky to find as it is nestled down a smaller street just off Bay. Has a nice clean fresh decor though it was quiet when i visited in late afternoon. Has a smaller menu but offers a good selection and a variety of oysters from different places. I came during happy hour which featured one of the varieties of Oysters at just over a buck a shuck. They tasted fresh and delicious. Also enjoyed the lobster roll and side salad. There was only one server in the place, an older blonde lady who was bartending. Service was prompt and uncomplicated however the lady was not very talkative or friendly at all. I probably would have stuck around a bit longer for another drink had she made any attempt to be pleasant. I would return based on the food and pricing but they could probably use some staff that appear like they want to be there.

Love this place!! Came here for a surprise date night and had a half dozen oysters and tuna tartare accompanied by a glass of cab. These were the most freshest oysters I have ever tasted!! The tuna tartare tasted amazing and was beautifully presented on the plate.I cannot wait to come back here.. this is my new favorite restaurant for seafood!!

Super slow service. Some of the dishes were good. Seafood was disappointing. Not good for big groups. They will not split the bill and give you immense attitude for even asking. They rather stand there for 30 mins while you try to figure out who owes what. My friends and I will not be visiting this establishment again.

A kind of Rodneys Express. Tucked away in one of the coolest little back alley spots in the city. Excellent, intimate vibe with awesome happy hour (low tide) specials.

I guess I am use to the lobster roll at Smoked and Cracked (no longer in business) which was extremely good. Their lobster roll was served either hot or cold. This lobster roll was cold. It was good, but not enough lobster (I know it is expensive) It was mostly bun to be honest. Came with a plain salad, would have appreciated either coleslaw or potato salad with it; in fact no salads on the menu that I could see, not sure why.My husband had the fish and chips; again I guess we cant compare this to places that are dedicated to fish and chips, because the portions are much larger. 2 pieces of fish, small and frites (small chips), just ok.Also had the fish tacos, they need work, have you tried the fish tacos at Local? Thats what I compare them to.Maybe their specialty is oysters? Will try something different next time. Will return for sure.

Was there two weeks ago. Save your money. After spending $288 for dinner for two, we ended up going to a fast food place later to eat.Oysters were good, but everything else off the menu was poor. Grilled Squid was cold and bitter. The Calamari was sooo small of a portion and the tar tar was flavorless. Real disappointment in the food.Getting the bill took forever.Atmosphere was ok, nothing special. Avoid this place if you are hungry and want to eat. Its more of a social gathering spot.

Best service and fantastic food. Every time I visit it makes me want to plan my next visit as the food and service is just that dam good. The consistency is there which to me is the ultimate dining experience. I have been comming here since day 1 of opening.

Good ceasars and Guinness on tap. Music is good and the staff is friendly but dont be in a hurry. Fish and chips with oysters is my go to. Tuna BLT also great. I very much like the setup and look of the bar
