Hari Parbat also called Koh-i-Maran, is a hill overlooking Srinagar, the largest city and summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the site of a fort, built in the Durrani era, and of a Hindu temple, mosques, and gurdwara. The first fortifications on the site were constructed by the Mughal emperor Akbar in 1590 who built an outer wall for the fort as part of his plans for a new capital called Nager Nagor. The project, however, was never completed. The present fort was built in 1808 under the reign of Governor Atta Mohammed Khan .Hari Parbat is considered sacred by the Kashmiri Pandits who also call it Pradyumna Peeth. The hill hosts a temple of Shakti, who is worshipped there under the name Jagadamba Sharika Bhagawati (or, simply, Sharika). She is depicted as having 18 arms and sitting in Shri Chakra. The southern side of Hari Parbat features Makhdoom Sahib, the shrine of Hamza Makhdoom, a 16th-century Kashmiri Sufi saint locally known as Hazrat Sultan and Sultan-ul-Arifeen.Built below the fort is a mosque dedicated to Shah Badakhshi, a 17th-century Qadiri Sufi saint. The mosque was built by Mughal princess Jahanara Begum.Gurdwara Chatti Patshahi at Kathi Darwaza, Rainwari, is believed to be the place where Guru Har Gobind, the sixth Sikh guru, stayed for few days while travelling through Kashmir.Gurdwara Guru Nanak Dev is a place where Guru Nanak sat and had discourse with people in early sixteenth century. It was earmarked with a pedestal by Mohammad Ata Khan, a general of Akbar who built the Durrani Fort. A small Gurdwara was later built at the place by Guru Har Gobind.

If you are on Kashmir trip dont miss a visit to Hari Parbat Fort. It is an iconic site, visible from anywhere in Srinagar on its perch atop Sharika Hill. Climb to this Mughal fortification, learn about the ancient rulers of Indias Kashmir district, stop by sacred spiritual shrines and capture spectacular views of Dal Lake.
Hari Parbat is also known as Kooh-e-Maran lies on the west of Dal Lake in Srinagar, in the UT of Jammu & Kashmir. This Mughal structure was built by an Afghan Governor Atta Mohammed Khan in 18th century. Later a long wall was constructed in 1590 by Emperor Akbar. Surrounded by commendable structures from all religions, this fort sits at the top giving a spectacular view of Dal Lake. This fort is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and still stands impressive with old apartments and tall pillars. Hari Parbat provides a top view of Makhdoom Sahib shrine.
A beautiful place to get view of the Srinagar City. You can see the Islamia College playground, Jamia Masjid Nowhatta and downtown from here. The route is from Kathi darwaza by car.
A place of historical significance in srinagar. On its top u can have a view of whole (almost) of srinagar. The view is mesmerizing .There is temple as well as mosque there. The only bad about the place is that one needs to get the ticket from some other place which is situated some km away from this place. It would have been a better change if the govt shifted the ticket counter near the gate of this place.
Heritage place providing scenic view of srinagar cityPlace of harmony for Hinduism, Sikhism, and Islamism.Sharika temple, makhdoomi sahib, gurudwara chathe patshahi
Nice place
The best visiting spot in Srinagar from which you can a see whole city from an aerial view.

Btm
One of the beautiful places in Srinagar City. On the top of the Mount, situating the marvel architect of the Medieval Kashmir. The whole vicinity round the mount gives you majestic view of the whole city all around. If you are religious then you could have some spiritual touches from the religious sights over there. The only painstaking is that the fort on the top is occupied by the security forces and likely to be ravished with the passage of the time.
Not maintained by tourism dept dirty bushes and grass inside there old sculpture waste of time. But awesome view of Srinagar from there.
Hari parbat castle srinagar is a best place to see the whole srinagar city
