Good place, quick service and tasty food. The menu includes all Mexican staples, nothing particularly fancy, but theyre well prepared. The service we had was also pretty good albeit we were the only clients for lunch. Parking is very limited in the vicinity of the restaurant, Id recommend to arrive in advance to find a spot.

Excellent restaurant, if I could rate it higher I would! Theres a great menu with something for everyone. Most of the food is naturally gluten free and there are some vegan options too. The interior of the restaurant is really unique and fitting to the Latin American theme. The food was amazing, would highly recommend and will be returning again. There is indoor and outdoor seating and deals on cocktails. Overall a very positive experience!

The best Mexican food Ive ever had, class food, class beer

Staffing shortages meant we were turned away for food despite the place being half empty. The staff that were there didnt seem too happy either. They also said all tables were booked so we would have to sit outside if we wanted a drink. They cheered up when we returned for drinks later and served us well, but we still had to sit outside even though most of the tables inside were empty all night. I wouldnt have minded waiting for food, so there was something a bit odd about the whole experience. There was nobody there who looked like they were in charge. Perhaps the management need to have a bit of a think about how theyre running the place.

Fabulous restaurant! Great Mexican food expertly cooked and a brilliant atmosphere..... the perfect place to chill over a glass of wine and some nachos or for that special dinner!

I used to love this place during lockdown i accepted a drop in quality but it is not acceptable now really poor food couldnt even eat it sorry guys love you but rubbish!

Food was excellent, speedy service during the current climate and very attentive. Slightly annoyed by not being able to order dessert due to kitchen closing early. Prior notice would of been great, however still enjoyed the experience. Will definitely come back again.

Small restaurant, not in the smartest play of town, but oh boy. The food. I never knew beans and guac could taste so good!!! Portions are huge too; you dont really need a starter so as new customers OH &I massively overcatered 😂 the lovely waitresses brought if a to go box for the leftovers though so we had lunch the next day.Absolutely lovely staff and brilliant food; did notice that on a Saturday they didnt seem to be able to accommodate walk ins, so Id recommend booking a table

I appreciate that my visit was during lockdown and they were short on staff but the service was poor. We were rushed through ordering because the kitchen was closing and they wanted to prepare for opening the next day, then we were made to wait for quite a while and didnt get what we ordered. the food was not great quality and looked like it had been microwaved. A shame as I was really looking forward to a great meal, as I had heard really good things about this place.

They only have 1 high chair for the whole restaurant which was annoying, had my daughter in her pram the whole time. The food was disgusting in my opinion and id highly recommend anyone stay away from whatever this restaurant is attempting to be!

Fab place serving authentic Mexican food. Good selection of food & cocktails. Menu in Spanish & English & staff happy to help with ingredients/food content/allergies.A visit here feels like being transported to Mexico or Spain. The theme is consistent throughout & there are lots of pretty decorations to look at. Great artwork outside as well as an outdoor seating area for warmer days.Really enjoyed our visit here & enjoyed chatting with the cheerful staff who were very helpful with the food order & made the cocktails look great!Would visit again!

Nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. There were times when we were waiting a little longer than we preferred, but it was a Saturday evening. Quite a good range of food on the menu. We really enjoyed the starters but we both found our main courses a bit too rich - another tortilla or two would have helped!

Popped in for a lunchtime stop with a few work colleagues. No reservations, but still got a table and service instantly. Food was fantastic and served fairly quickly. Very impressed with the menu selection too - for information the Mole Rojas is unbelievable

We have been visiting La Baronia for a number of years. The food is always amazing, with huge portions. Staff friendly, service excellent, great atmoaphere and delicious cocktails. Best Nachos I have ever eaten (and I have eaten a lot of nachos!) If you like Mexican food, go.

Great good and great service - a half dozen friends and I went on a weeknight in December. We only saw perhaps two or three other tables occupied. The food was excellent, including Goldilocks portions: neither too big not too small. The service was also very good - our only disappointment was no-one spoke Spanish.

I went there once on my friends birthday. It was completely empty. Staff wasn’t as nice as I expected they weren’t rude but they have not care about anything. Food was okay but it wasn’t anything I would have to go and try again. If you like to try go but you won’t miss out anything if you are not gonna try.

Excellent Mexican food with a good value meal deal (3 courses for £20). The Steak and Cheese Burrito is a sight to behold and you will not be hungry after!Very busy during our visit but taking the COVID-19 recommendations very seriously. Would recommend booking in advance as lots of walk-ins were being turned away as there was just no space for them.

First time I visited this place after, driving past for many a year. The service was very good the tables were apart so, I felt safe considering what is going on.... the food very tasty and had a kick.... lol...

Very sensibly laid out in the current situation. Excellent friendly team, amazing food and good drinks range, covered outdoor seating a lovely bonus. Authentic Mexican (not Tex mex) in portswood! Ill be visiting more often. Thanks team!

Loved this place! It’s clean with traditional Mexican decor. The food is delicious... it’s fresh and plentiful. I recommend the mole.The staff are fantastic, the waitress we had talked us through the menu and check on us through out the evening.Definitely recommend and can’t wait to come back for some more of your margaritas.

Great atmosphere, food has fantastic flavours. Just need to improve catering for vegans as we were served a dish with added feta. Although Staff very quickly remedied the situation, this should not happen.

Worst service Ive experienced in my life. Went here for a work dinner and the staff were unbelievably rude, literally threw dishes on the floor. Needs a complete re-haul. Staff should be ashamed of themselves. Embarrassing.

Great atmosphere. The food is creative. Wish they would have more of a selection of food on the menu as the mostly have tacos and enchiladas, would like also a better printed copy of the menu such as laminated paper doesnt do justice. But the atmosphere, makes it a perfect date.

Friends of mine have told me its the best Mexican food in Southampton. Honestly I thought it was average. The place was also quite smokey and left our clothes smelling, therefore wouldnt advise going here before a night out.

Lovely place. I ordered a dish with nachos and shrimp in a white wine sauce and it was absolutely lovely. Id definitely go back again just for that. The rest of the attendees were also really pleased with their meals. It was a birthday party group of 7 and it took a while to get through the courses. Not a bad thing if youre relaxed but if youve got a babysitter waiting you might need to order staters and mains at the same time to speed things up.

Food was far too salty. But the atmosphere, decorations and staff were lovely.

The only restaurant we had patiently waited for during Covid!Visited on 11th July with my husband (our 4th visit) and yet again the food was too delicious for words.Ordered 3 starters and a main to share and only wish we could have stretched our stomachs to eat more.Generous portion sizes and every dish was a flavour sensation.All staff serving with a smile and all Covid secure procedures in place!

A bit of a hidden gem - staying in central Southampton, it would be easy to settle for one of the more mainstream, franchised restaurants that the city centre has to offer. But you don’t need to stray too far from the beaten track to find La Baronia and you will be well rewarded if you do.The atmosphere was great, staff were friendly and the menu was varied and attractive.Decently priced for both food and drink and the meals were excellent - well cooked, perfectly presented and an exquisite blend of flavour and substance. The food was exactly what we’d hoped for and we had an amazing night.We will definitely be going again with friends, as it feels like the kind of place to have one of those memorable evenings with your nearest and dearest.Thanks for a great evening La Baronia!

Had a mates celebration here for dinner and enjoyed the food although the menu seemed to be limited. Would go back again though as I was surprised how much I enjoyed everything as Im not normally a huge fan of Mexican. Staff were friendly although I had to gain there attention a few times

Food was good. The online menu clearly states that the mains come with mexican rice and beans. When our mains arrived they had no sides. The staff said that they did not come with anything. When I showed them the online menu they gave us some small sides. Food was good and the staff were helpful.

The food is great and its definitely the most Mexican food Ive eaten in the UK. The nachos are real ones too!

This place has lots of character and a pleasant atmosphere, food is delicious and gluten free. The cocktails menu is hard to refuse and the outside area always tidy and inviting. Great place to start off your evening!
