Trijuginarayan Mandir is the place where Lord Shiva – Maa Parvati got married in presence of the Lord Vishnu and Bramha Ji, the lighted fire where Shiva- Parwati ji took 7 rounds of fire, considering Agni as a witness. Which has been burning for last 3 eras, Treta Yug, Dwapar Yug and Satya Yug.? Now that fire is still burring today. When I reached there the climate was very dark, it was drizzling and snow fall started after half an hour.
The Triyugi Narayan Temple is very popular for being the sacred marriage site of Lord Shiva and Parvati, which was witnessed by Lord Vishnu as Parvati’s brother and conducted by Lord Brahma. The marriage fire lit during the marriage ceremony is still burning in the temple and called as Akhand Dhuni i.e. the eternal fire. Hence the temple is also called Akhand Dhuni Temple. The ashes from the perpetual fire burning here are considered holy and are taken back by the devotees for conjugal bliss. This celestial marriage paved the way for the union of Shiva and Shakti, ultimate forms of cosmic energy. Shiva is Absolute Consciousness that makes up our cosmos and the entire manifested universe is nothing but Shakti. We can integrate Shiva and Shakti within our inner consciousness, within our entire being. These sacred powers can open us up and transform our very being. The Shakti energy within us can perform deep cleansing, healing and transformation— and it all happens through the movement of Shakti energy within. The Triyugi Narayan temple resembles the temple of Kedarnath in architectural style and hence attracts a lot of devotees.

Triyuginarayan temple (त्रियुगीणारायन मंदिर), mythological place where lord Shankara (शंकर) and godess parvati (पार्वती) got married in presence of all devine gods. A priest (पंडित) role has been executed by lord Vishnu (विष्णू). It believed that fire ignited at ghat time is still a live from last 3 yuga (युग).According to hindu religion this place is having utmost importance and couples who want to marry are visit this place. This place is located 20 km away from village Gaurikund (गौरीकुंड) from where Kedaranath yatra starts. This place is well connected by road, so you can easily go upto temple by car. I forgot exact elevation of place but Kedarnath mountain peak is easily seen from here, so probably at same elevation. Its about 5 minutes walk from parking area to temple. You need to go below with use of stairs. There are 3-4 places of worship, at center you will find live water spring, on right side there is rock on one side of which lord Vishnu has been carved and on other side lord shankara and godess parvati are carved. You will find priest here who does pooja and havan for devotees. At center there is temple, you can get samidha (समिधा), outside of temple to drop in live fire (धुनी). You need to enter temple from left side, in temple at center there is live fire and in front of it you will find idol of god.Interestingly you will find this temple at lower elevation than surrounding village, i dont know history, but it could be case temple would have been explored later after establishment of village, people are doing farming on contours of land available surrounded to temple. As you are in Kedar mountain ranges, so you will definitely amazed with natures beauty here. If you are have been to kedarnath, this total 1 to 2 hour journey is worth to spend time.

A special feature of this temple is a perpetual fire, that burns in front of the temple. The flame is believed to burn from the times of the divine marriage. Thus, the temple is also known as Akhand Dhuni temple.According to Hindu dharma, goddess Parvati was daughter of Himavat or Himavan – the personification of the Himalayas. She was the rebirth of Sati, the first wife of Shiva – who sacrificed her life when her father insulted Shiva. Parvati initially tried to allure Shiva by her beauty, but failed. Finally, she won Shiva by practising rigorous penance at Gauri Kund, which is 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) away from Triyuginarayan. Pilgrims visiting Triyuginaryan temple also visit the Gauri Kund temple, dedicated to Parvati, which is the base camp for trek to Kedarnath Temple. Mythology states that Shiva proposed to Parvati at Guptakashi, before they got married in the small Triyuginarayan village at the confluence of Mandakini and Sone-Ganga rivers .Triyuginarayan is believed to be the capital of Himavat. It was the venue of the celestial marriage of Shiva and Parvati, during the Satya Yuga, witnessed in the presence of the holy fire that still burns eternally in front of the temple in a Havana-kund or Agni-kund, a four-cornered fireplace on the ground. Vishnu formalised the wedding and acted as Parvatis brother in the ceremonies, while the creator-god Brahma acted as the priest of the wedding, that was witnessed by all the sages of the times. The exact location of the wedding is marked by a stone called Brahma Shila, in front of the temple. The greatness of this place is also recorded in a sthala-purana (a scripture specific to a pilgrimage centre). According to the scripture, pilgrims who visit this temple consider the ashes from the burning fire as holy and carry it with them.It is also believed that ashes from this fire are supposed to promote conjugal bliss. efore the marriage ceremony ,here were no people who witnessed the incident , the gods are believed to have taken bath in four kunds or small ponds namely, Rudra-kund, Vishnu-kund and Brahma-kund. The inflow into the three kunds is from the Saraswati-kund, which – according to legend – originated from Vishnus navel. Hence, the water of these kunds is considered to cure infertility. The ashes from Havana-kund are supposed to promote conjugal bliss.
