Best place, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, beautiful wall paintings and also theyve maintained clean washrooms there. The temple is pure and youd feel complete there. The temple closes by 5 or 6 PM. Have a good visit.

Its a religious place. But there is big loot in the name of religion. All priests, pandas are like robbers. If you want to go for only darshan, then you may go. But want to do any rituals here, you will be robbed. Strictly dont go for any kind of religious rituals like puja, mundan etc

Hariharnath Mandir ( हरिहर नाथ मंदिर) in Sonepur is also known for the famous temple of shree Hariharnath and the site of the battle of Gaj-Grah and rescue of the former by Hari During Kartik Purnima Ganga Snan or ceremonial bathing in the Ganges is held by Hindus to be unusually efficacious. On the day of full moon (Kartik Purnima) immense crowd assembles and take bath. The Mela commences on that day and lasts for more than a fortnight. The Shiva temple, Kali temple and other temples and historical religious monuments are situated here and social and economical activities are at the highest peak during the Mela period. People come here to pay their oblation to the lords and thus its importance is not within Sonepur of Bihar rather it is of India and world fame.According to Uday Pratap Singh, author of the book Baba Hariharanath, before 1757, the Hariharanath temple was composed of artistic rock clusters of timber and black stones. These pictures and praises of Hari were engraved on them. Meanwhile, this temple was reconstructed by Ram Narayan Singh, the deputy sub-ruler of Mir Qasim. He was a resident of Nayagaon, Saran. After this, in 1860, the Empress of Tekai built a hospice in the temple premises. In 1871, the remaining three oases of the temple complex were constructed by Maharana Jangbahadur of Nepal. In the 1934 Nepal–Bihar earthquake, the temple complex, Osara and Pakora were damaged. After this Birla family rebuilt it. English writer Harry Abbott has highlighted the importance of this temple in his diary while visiting the Harihar Nath Temple. In 1871, English writer Minden Wilson described the Sonpur fair in his diary.

The main deity here is Mahadev and Mahavishnu. It has also other Gods too. Very holistic place, it is headquarters of Hariharchetra which finds its mention i. Early Purans and mythology. An ancient and great temple of Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the temple of Harihar Nath was built by Lord Rama on his way to court of King Janak to win the hand of Mata Sita and later repaired by Raja Man Singh. Must recommended to visit but dnt indulge yourself with pujaris most of them are so greedy.

One of my favorite and not much well known temples amongst tourists. This temple has a special significance as it is within a very pious area. The Gaj-Graha incident happened near to the temple and in this temple both Shiva and Vishnu are worshipped. You can reach here by car and ample parking space is there. There are few shops outside the temple, where you can buy offerings and some local knick knacks.

The hariharnath kshetra sonpur mela started around the worship of lord hariharnath (vishnu and shiva) for which people come to sonpur. This mela is known largest cattle fare of asia. The sonpur cattle fare is held on kartik purnima the full moon day in the month of November in Sonpur on the confluence of river ganges and gandak. It is also known as harihar kshetra mela and it attracts visitors from all over asia.

Amazing mandir. One of its kind where both Bhagwan Vishnu and Bhagwan Shiv reside at the same place.

Due to Corona very few visitors. Once you land at Harihar Nath Mandir, you will be surrounded by Pandits. They will lure and follow you to get the puja done. Its upto you. The place is clean. One has to be careful, while taking bathe. The sand in the river water is very deceiving and you may loose balance if not careful. Water is some what clean.

Be aware of the pandas outside the temple, dont pay them, meet the panda sitting inside. The outsider will loot you.
