A very clean and beautiful beach midway between the city of Dwarka and Somnath. It’s length is enormous and it has been maintained impeccably. There are lovely camel rides available along with very few stalls offering some coconut water and a few soft drinks. Every effort has been made to keep this trash free. Kudos to the Gujarat government and the local authorities in doing so. It’s right next to the highway and your evenings could be made memorable watching the sunset here.
The place is located in main Somnath city only nearby other main site seeing places such as Geeta Mandir, Trivani Sangam, Pandava Caves etc. so you can cover all at one stroll. Its been renovated completely however the soul of the place remains the same. It will take maximum 20-30 minute to complete the tour of the place.Bhalka Tirth is situated in the environs of Somnath, at a distance of 5 km on Somnath-Veraval way.Bhalka Tirth is an ancient Lord Krishna temple which has an interesting ancient story associated with it. Lord Krishna had actually come to this place.Bhalka Teerth Temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna. It is believed that this was the place where Jara, the hunter, mistakenly shot an arrow at the feet of Lord Krishna, due to which the Lord left his earthly existence for his heavenly abode.History and architecture always surprize. Not only because of the various types, styles, materials, intricacies, labour and intelligence put into making them but also the stories, myths and realities associated with them.According to mythological story, Lord Krishna was meditated under a Peepal tree here. Only then, Jara, the poacher mistook the foot of the Lord for that of a deer and shot straight through it.The arrows came in the feet of God and started bleeding. The hunter then realized his mistake and asked for a confession with God. This incident symbolizes Krishnas departure from the earth and was the sign of the end of Dwapara Yuga. The meaning of arrow is known as Bhal, so this pilgrimage has been known as Bhalka Tirth.

The experience one has here cannot be described in words.According to Hindu beliefs, it is said that lord Krishna came at this exact place to take some rest under a tree when Bhalaknath, unknowingly, attacked their left foot as it had an amazingly attractive mani or gem on it and he assumed it to be a deers eye. When Bhalaknath realized that he had hurt lord Krishna by mistake, he begged for an apology. Lord Krishna reiterated the saying, sab vidhi ka vidhaan hai and forgave him. This temple has an amazing idol of lord Krishna in lying down posture with the right leg above the left one. I was fortunate enough to encounter no crowd at all in this temple when I visited. I was lucky to witness the evening aarti as well which happens between 7 to 7.30 PM everyday. There are not that many beggars around who keep poking you for money here. All in all, the experience was truly surreal.
The temple commemorates the episode when a poacher, Jara, mistakenly hit the Lord shri krushna with his arrow, thinking it’s a deer. The Lord left for his heavenly abode after this episode, but not before walking 4km from here to Shri Goloknathdham Tirth. In the 9th century AD Shri Vallabhacharya gave discourses on Shrimad Bhagavat Gita here for 9 full days...... Peaceful Atmosphere 🕉️🕉️🕉️🚩🚩.
Nice place near Somnath take local ride to go there recommended and in route full fish 🐠🐋🐟smell 👃 be careful
Lord Krishna died on this place. Very powerful atmosphere. Deserves a visit.
This temple is made on behalf of lord KrishnaThis is the place where Krishna was killed by an arrow shot by a hunter named Jara, after which he worshipped Shiva, an act referred to in the Puranas as Shri Krishna Nijdham Prasthan Leela
Nice, quiet, calm place. Max time 15 to 20 min if you want to rest etc. External area is dirty. Could have been well maintained if focused on swaccha bharat.
This is really amazing temple. I visited this place at 7 in the morning and the environment was fabulous in and around the temple.Anyone would like to sit there for hours and enjoy the peaceful surrounding.
Very sacred temple, where Lord Krishna breathed His last. The tree, around which this temple is built is supposed to be over 5000 years old, probably the same tree under which Lord Krishna was sitting when the arrow pierced His foot.
Happy Raj

Nice temple with a history of Srikrishnas mahanirvan. The king bali of Ramayana was given boon to trigger the mahanirvan of lord srikrishna. Bali takes birth as Jara the hunter and thinking Srikrishnas leg as antilope he sends an arrow which pearce Lords thumb..Jara realising his mistake bows in front of lord Srikrishna but the lord says this all was his wish. Its this place bhalka tirth where all this happens.

Place where shree krishna was hit by arrow of an tribal
Very good place. Very nice temple and spacious campus for family gathering or visit.
Generally not a crowded place. Highly important Historical place.
This is the Holy Place where Lord Śri Kŗşņa ends His earthly incarnation, after fulfilling the purpose of His Pūrņa Avatār - re-establishing righteousness in this mortal world. This is fondly addressed as Hari Har Tīrthdhām, considering the proximity of two important temples in the area – one dedicated to Lord Śiva – as Sȏmnāthji - and the other to Lord Śri Kŗşņa. This place where the Lord Śri Kŗşņa was hit – just as an ordinary human being - by an arrow of a poacher is known as Bhālka Tirtha – Bhālka meaning an arrow. The Lord appears in a reclining position here – blessing His devotees with the same compassionate look in His sight – despite indicating the position when He suffered the mortal wound inflicted upon Him on one of His Sacred feet by the arrow of an innocent hunter who in fact aimed his arrow at a deer, which instead met the Lord’s foot as its target! How cruel are the ways of fate, when even the Lord is not spared from earthly miseries! When the hunter realised his mistake and ran to the Lord, profusely apologised for his misdemeanour and sought His pardon, the ever-blissful Lord, quite un-moved, pacifies the hunter saying that it was not his fault at all, and the Lord Himself permitted the act as he – the hunter was none other than the Monkey King Vāli in the Lord’s previous earthly Avatār as Lord Śri Rāma who had killed him for being unjust towards his own brother Sugreeva – and, therefore, it was no amiss on his part now to have taken revenge by hurting the Lord Himself - which paved the way to end His Avatār as Lord Śri Kŗşņa! Whatever the epicular explanation, in the eyes of the ordinary mortals – the devotees, the Reclining Lord here does bring involuntary tear-drops at the pathetic sight! Nevertheless, this being one of the cosmic plays of the Almighty, every mortal has to bow down in holy reverence to His Will alone!!!After being hit by the arrow, Lord Śri Kŗşņa arrived at the holy confluence of Hiran, Kapila and Saraswati Rivers and their Sangam (confluence) with the ocean. The Lord performed his Divine Leela of exiting from this earth at the sacred and peaceful banks of River Hiran…!
Devine place..spiritual feelings... mind meets your heart beat
Deh Tyag bhumi of lord Krishna.... very silent environment, blessed to have a Darshan...
Very nice place but should be maintained well...
The idol of Lord Krishna is really stunning and life like. It is said that under the same tree, a hunter accidentally shot Lord Krishna on the sole of his foot while he was asleep mistaking him to be an animal. When he realised who he had shot he cried and pleaded for forgiveness but Lord Krishna calmly told him that it was meant to be. There are probably a lot of historical explanations and reasons for his death but I am not sure. But this is how he left his human form.
Krishnas idol is mesmerizing...must visit.
Amazing and thrilling experience

Temple place where lord was shot an arrow in the foot, Calm temple, with a pond behind it.
Temple is good to visit while visiting Somnath. Lord krishna is the primary diety. There is a small Lord Shiva temple in the same premises.
This is the place where lord of universe shree krishna went to heaven by an ordinary hunter named Jara. This was taken place when the battle of mahabharata was completed and pandavas won the battle. Lord was very sad due to the massacre done in the battle. lord was sitting under the tree and the hunter throw an arrow to hunt the animal but it went through lord. The hunter was panic but lord said dont panic as everything has happened due to my own wish. This place has that tree and a temple in which there is an idol of lord krishna in the position of taking rest.
The Holy Place where Shri Krishna Left His Human body before ascending to his abode, due to arrow hitting his tow . The Temple is dedicated to Him, Very Clean Place , housed within vast Compound, the temple being in the circuit of devotees who visit somanath, it is advised go early before it gets crowded.Lot of stray Dogs in the compound, one of them took away one sandal of mine ,i was flabbergasted with the prospect of walking bare foot for the rest of the day or till i get a shop to buy new pair .However when i told about missing sandal to the purohit/poojari of the temple , he graciously called the security and told him to search for it as dog might have taken it. Finally the Security found the sandals far away from the temple. The Helpfulness of the Temple, Management along with security of really appreciated
This place is very pious and respected by all. The statues of almighty lord krishna is very lively and the story of Avtar sampati of the god is heart touching.
