On a recent trip to India, I had the wonderful opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle of the cities and visit the Amaya Homes. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas and surrounded by pine trees and fresh air, the homes have been gracefully designed to fit into the landscape. I had the pleasure to have a guided tour by the developer Rahul Gupta and Project Manager Charu Patni. The two of them have poured their passion into this project and it clearly shows. This is a truly sustainable project with 350 feet deep wells providing clean drinking water, no chemicals have been used in any building materials, on-site waste water treatment and processing for grey water, on-site gardens to be used for the future restaurant, the list continues. As a structural engineer, it was a wonderful opportunity to see ancient building techniques and materials being used for a modern and luxurious design. The resort should be up and running later this year and I am already excited to return and take in Amaya in all of its glory.
