A South Indian themed restaurant inside the iconic savera hotel.Location - located in the ground floor of Savera hotel.Ambience - the entire ambience resembles a south Indian traditional House. The wooden swings at the entrance proves to be a big attraction. And there is a palmistry counter at entrance where we can freely check our future 😅Parking - wide parking area is available with in the savera hotel premises.Food - we visited here to during the nanjil naadu food festival. Its an ala Carte menu with delicacies from Nagercoil, kanyakumari, Marthandam and trivandrum regions.Since its a special food festival menu, chef was there to explain the dishesSince its a huge menu, am listing out my favourites in this spread. We started with the traditional sarbath (made using a famous brand in South - Raja sarbath)Also being a guy from South tamilnadu, I loved eating aviyal (mixed vegetable dish) and pazham pori (sweet banana fritters). 🍌🍌🍌In main course, the seeraga samba biryani was so tasty. One highlight dish I wanted to mention is the cheratta puttu (coconut shell puttu). Tastedamazing. In desserts, we tried paal kozhukattai the unique dish from kanyakumari. Those are Sweet balls of rice cooked in coconut milk.Service - you can experience Fine dining here with people always ready to serve you.Pricing - all items are priced at 5 star level. And so its unaffordable to visit regularly. But can be experienced during special occasions.RatingFood - 4/5Ambience - 5/5Service - 5/5Pricing - 3/5
Absolutely love this place! The food is fantastic but the highlight is the service- Its outstanding! From seating us to helping us prep for the meal, suggesting dishes, until finish, the service felt like royalty.Really good food - perfectly balanced flavors, not too oily or salty, and great desserts.Highly recommend!
Great food! Friendly staff! And located in savera one of the historic star hotel in Madras.
Been there for so long and consistent in taste plus service in all these years. Very good South Indian flavor with reasonable variety and price. Tirunelveli halwa was so delicious 👍👍
We ordered mutton kuzhambu. The meat in the gravy was stale (old). We goto Savera trusting their standards. But, the results were completely unacceptable. Had we consumed it without checking, we would have fallen ill.
This place really lost its reputation, There are so many reasons to complain about this place..(i) Bad ambiance: The furniture of this place is the worst. Many things are old and looks like it is not maintained properly.(ii) Substandard quality of food: this places food is really the worst now. First of all the menu is limited and many dishes like sambar, rasam are really below the standards.I recommend one not to go to this place the food and ambiance is really bad.
Not so great...bills are really over priced. One briyani is 695 and not so tasty as well.. Theme and ambience is nice and traditional..
Food is good, but ambience is old. Theyve opened last month after a lockdown of 6-7 mths and the interiors smell a bit when u enter.
Could be slightly better
Food is good. Ambience is excellent
Our favorite restaurant in Chennai. Never disappointed us this year as well. Great food, great service and a courteous staff.Great place to dine authentic South Indian cuisine in a great ambience...
Lovely! The gentleman outside the entrance of the restaurant who tells your future completes the magic of Malgudi. Tasty food, very attentive team and excellent service. Valet parking too is of great help. Hope to return.
The food is good. The thalis are insanely filling. But a nice place with a pleasant ambiance. Their prawn preparations were great. They lost a star in my review because of the Nethili Fry which was batter fried and that usually doesnt work.
Great, warm service. The food was excellent. Very good suggestions by the steward and deserves 7*.They even agreed to serve little late as we were late for our booking
This place is so nice for both veg and non veg. They have wallet parking facility. Inside Savera, we have beauty parlour facility also. They have a swing at the entrance of the restaurant which attracts people coming over there. Also they have an astrologer in front of the restaurant. If we want we can predict our future with him. Lol...This places interior is the Indo classical type. Very calm and quite restaurant.
Good car parking space.. tasty food but high cost.. pleasant service from the serving team of restaurant.
Food was great but the service was poor.
Great South Indian fare. Nice ambience. Friendly and courteous service.
Horrible food.. forget chicken, prawns and other dishes... Their own speciality. Podi idli, appam, Thutavam edi dosa, mysore masala dosa... All were below average..Pls dont visit this place..
3 star is for ambience and service. I was there for lunch. Veg thali was the choice. Appetizers were good ( wish we had order just that). Main course wasnt. East dish was decent (not good) on its own, but they didnt come together on the thali as a meal. For a thali that costed 1000+ it is not worth it. I wouldnt have had a problem if the dishes by themselves were atleast good, karma wasnt like it, idiyappam was sticky meaning less cooked, sambar wasnt to the level, beetroot had so much garlic, chenai/yam was too sticky for a dry curry.. . I can go on and on. I would look for a certain level with the reputation of Savera, but this was disappointing. Their Breath Room is a good choice.
The interior will make you feel so comfortable. Very very good manager. Nearby you can find Bamboo Bar, never visit irresponsible staffs and careless customer aeevice
An authentic restaurant at savera where ur veg and non veg dishes are lip smacking. Give a treat to ur taste buds
Really had a great time here. The food and ambience is great. Flute player was awesome and played tunes on request.
Food is good but the service is the worst.
Non veg thali food offered for Christmas was a good feast but cost is little on higher end at 1575 INR per person
Food was good, not sure if it was worth the cost. 2 appams cost 275+ tax. !
Never get bored of visiting Malgudi..set in the beautiful theme of a traditional south Indian home, it serves a wide variety of dishes from all over the south of India. My favourite is their vazhappoo vada..for biriyani lovers their chicken biriyani is a must try...spicy and flavorful
Good place to be with friends and family. Had a great time service was quick and courteous and they took great care of us.
Nice Ambience and good food. Good place for Business meetings
The Onam Sathya meals very tasty and delicious the atmosphere of hotel and reception is very good
Not happy with the good served ambience was completely disturbed by staff chatting loudly with another group guest. Unable to hear the flute music.
Good Customer Service but I have had better food so over all Ok. Experience may not repeat
Good place for a weekend dinner with family and a wonderful service
We had non veg thaali here for the lunch.it is one of the worst items in the menu for a lunch. They served aalam, dosai , idiyappam for a lunch thaali. The taste was ok. We ordered mutton kulambu which was good the first time, the second time when we order the mutton was not cooked very well. The ambience was so good. But no good food.
Great foods and drinks
Good ambience, warm hospitality, delicious dishes, especially chettinad cuisine.

Traditional south Indian non veg food, in 4 star ambienceValue for moneyNice place for family dinnerGood place for office dinner as wellBar menu available in restaurant as wellChettinad, Kerala , Andhra style menu ceratin speciality dishes for each state available
Delicious South Indian non vegetarian food, must try when you are in Chennai.
Pathetic maintenance. The room was damp & smelly . We went in as 2 ppl around 2 pm in the afternoon. Selected veg thali as per advise . Drumstick soup was okay . Veg starters , namely ladies finger pakoda was tasteless & paneer 65 too was pretty ordinary . Then came the shocker in the form of thali . The parotta & kuruma was ok. None of the side dishes was good . Biryani had too much ghee & the appam which I got tasted bad with coconut milk . That a hotel of the standard of Savera should look in to this speciality restaurant . Buffet always tasted good @ Savera but Malgudi was a big let down.
Tasty food and helpful staff
Loved the mutton bone soup and the garlic fish fry. They both turned out to be brilliant appetisers. Later, we ordered some paya, appams and dosas. They were all delicious. Just wished the vazhapoo vada had more of vazhapoo flavour than dhal. Else, I loved the food, ambience and music. The person who played flute did a great job.
Homely, friendly and tasty and great ambiance too.
