It is really delicious, but quite pricey for the value that you get. The waiters does not explain too much and they are like in hurry. In the image, this was a rice table for 4 and it cost around 160€ with drinks (around 40€) which is compared to other asian options (that I tried and were also really good) near by quite a lot. So if you don’t mind the price, this might be a great experience for you.
Was looking for authentic Indonesian cuisine and found it here. Everything we’ve ordered tasted as it should and we left pretty happy! Service was also very nice. Location very convenient in the center of the town.
Fantastic food. An explosion of colours, flavours and textures. The presentation is majestic. The service is amazing. Thanks chef Tony for the lovely night!!
Am from Singapore and needed to satisfy some Asian cravings and this really hit the spot. Everything we tried was above expectations. The rendang was above the normal standards as well as the mie Soto and the fried chicken wonton was a winner! Thanks Sampurna
My first time eating Indonesian food and everything was so delicious. The staff was super nice and explained everything to me. Great place to try many sample dishes if it is your first time.
Good quaint Indonesian restaurant next to the Flower Market. It is busy and reservations are recommended. We had the Rice Table (Rijsttafel). My favorite dish: the chicken satay.
Managed to find us a table evern though they were very busy. Delicious food, all individual small dishes in the 2 person platter. Plenty for the three of us.
Amazing authentic food!! Great atmosphere and service. NOT a tourist trap
We ordered a rice table and EVERYTHING was delicious! There is so much flavor. The Interior is very nice and the staff are great.
Im Indonesian and this place is a must try! The taste was literally the same as how high quality Indonesian restaurant in Indonesia would be. Id say it taste like Sate Senayan (if you ever try one in Jakarta). We order the celebes risjttafel (for €34.5 per person) for 2 people but it can feed 4 of us, the gado gado, and bebek sambel ijo, they all taste very great!Unfortunately it took time till your order come out because they only have 2 servers at that time. It might be quite pricey but its worth it.
We really enjoyed our meal here. Service was excellent. Highly recommended.
Wonderful spot for great Indian food! Stunning room with immaculate restrooms and excellent service!
Really good food with great value. Service was also good. Everything was perfect. I am looking forward to go there again.
As Indonesian, this restaurant has authentic Indonesian food ! Better to book your dinner in advance, lots of people came to the restaurant wanting to eat but rejected since the restaurant was fully booked.
Over hipped. Most of the dishes taste the same, mainly have too much sugar in them.
Absolutely loved this place - the staff the food and the ambience was all amazing
Authentic Indonesian food. Best dish was Soto Ayam. Happy to get Bintang again!
Best rice table we have had so far in Amsterdam! Delicious and great variety.
Amazing food from Indonesia ! you have to do it absolutely ! the restaurant is really nice also and the service is very good. Just before the flowers market. The bill is very reasonable.
The food was tasteless and nothing special. I’m very disappointed considering the other reviews I saw. Maybe the chef was on holiday. I left most of my food and they still charged me for it.Disgraceful
Food was average, service was poor and ambience was below average.Food:We ordered 2x vegetarian and 2x non-vegetarian rice tables. While the appetizers for the meat-eaters came, there was no sign of the vegetarian food starting out. When asked the server, she said it’ll take time. Asked for hot sauce, the server forgot. Asked the other server, he forgot too. Eventually had to go to the counter to get hot sauce.Tofu was no fresh, but very chewy. Beef was delicious. Chicken was average.Service:Very poor. Had to get up on multiple occasions to ask for hot sauce, water and napkins. Server was also very rude.Ambience:While the front portion of the restaurant is lovely, the back portion is dingy. Unfortunately we got seated in the back portion and constantly had the server bumping into the person sitting on the corner. For a one time-try, sure, check out the restaurant. Otherwise, recommend you try more places.
Tasty, cosy, calm and warm.
The restaurant was highly recommended in the your books and it did not disappoint. The food is a bit overpriced but tasty, and really authentic. If you want to experience a bit of everything then go for menu for €23 per person. It has a bit of everything and is very filling. Their house wines are also very good.
Great food, good service and lovely staf!! Highly recommended!!
Came to this spot from New York with my Indonesian friend and the food was absolutely phenomenal to us both. Everything from the food to the service completely blew us away. My friend grew up in indo and he said it was the best Indonesian food he ate outside of Indo. We ordered the Kuning Rijsttafel, get that with some friends and you won’t leave unhappy!
Waw. What an amazing experience. We came in later but the staff was amazing, the food was amazing. We had de sampura rijstafel en La traca wine. Definitely recommend
Friendly staff. Not too spicy food. Crisp and tasty.
Very nice food. Very nice staff, got my picky vegetarian girlfriend eating all sorts ;) Bedankt !!
Great atmosphere, great service and even better food! The dining area can get a little bit hot when the weather outside is warm. Although there is outdoor seating, you would be eating right on the sidewalk with people walking past you. The food was excellent; spicy and crunchy. Vegetables were perfectly pickled. You wont be sorry.
Lovely cuisine in an excellent location!I shared a meal for two which contained about 10 dishes to be eaten with rice, I loved much of it and what I didnt like so much my partner enjoyed!Service was a little slow at first as everyone was rushing around, they were fully booked and you could tell. Once we were sat down it was lovely and smooth once again. The décor was interesting with a black and gold appearance which, if Im honest didnt work for me.Overall an very enjoyable night out.
Still open for takeaway (no indoor seating because of Covid19), this is a great place for good, authentic Indonesian cuisine. The vegetarian rijsttafel is a wonderfully varied meat-free menu, with a range of strong flavours. Highly recommended.
Excellent Indonesian restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. The service (the staff work really hard) was great and the restaurant has a nice vibe to it. The food was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend getting more than you think you need, not only because of the great flavors but also because of the relatively small portion sizes (I am a big American guy though for perspective). The prices were fair I think, we paid € 70 with a tip for 2 of us. Overall this was a great spot and I think overlooked compared to the Kantjil en de Tijger restaurant down the street. This is a great spot and I highly recommend it.
Was looking forward to some great Dutch Indonesian food. Atmosphere was nice and staff friendly. The starters of fried dumpling and chicken soup were good and authentic like the ones we have in South East Asia.Soon after starters came, my infant daughters gastroenteritis worked up and she vomited all over the floor. Had to abandon dinner even before it started. Quickly paid the bill and asked to pack the remaining majority of the dinner. To my disappointment the waiter told me that they do not have doggy bag boxes, and I was all ready to just pay up and skip dinner entirely. Fortunately one of the waitress managed to dig up some food containers, probably her own boxes from home or something, and we managed to leave with some semblance of a packed Indonesian dinner, sans the atmosphere.Didnt managed to experience the full dinner myself but I must compliment and acknowledge the wait staff for getting out of their normal duties to accommodate to a desperate father with a sick toddler in tow. Most expensive 60 euro packed dinner Ive had though.
Absolute gem of a place! An awesome restaurant for authentic Indonesian food! The quality and taste of most dishes were very similar to that you would find in many restaurants in Jakarta!Top notch rendang and Nasi goreng with delightful flavours! The place does seem to be busy even at off-peak times so be sure to call in for a reservation especially for lunch/dinner on weekendsPricing is very reasonable given the quality of the dishes.DEFINITELY MUST TRY IF YOU’RE LOOKING FOR HALAL INDONESIAN FOOD!** The waiter has confirmed the food is indeed halal
Really tasty food, one of the best cod and duck dishes we’ve had. Repeat customers because the food is delicious and the customer service is extremely good.
Really good indonesian dishes.
Food is great and service is excellent!
Wow, what an amazing meal!! Loved the presentation of the many small dishes to share and so many different vibrant flavors. We ordered the meal pictured to share and then another separate entree. Loved the spicy chicken and beef dishes and the vegetables in the sweet coconut milk. The fried rice was very good too. The service was excellent. Very nice, quick and attentive. We made reservations on line the same day and lucky we did because it was very full.
I love coming here whenever Im in Amsterdam. Its a little pricey in comparison to the other rice table options in the city but the service is superb. For a southeast asian missing food with real heat... This is a great place to be. If you want the full rijsttafel you need at least two people... If Im alone I just get one meat dish and enjoy the keropok (deep fried crackers) and chilli.
I really wanted to get a bite of Indonesian food and this was billed by Google trips as a good spot. I however have to disagree, I got what I would consider their signature dish and while the plating was very nice with a bunch of side dishes laid out neatly, the taste did not live up to the looks. The food had a slightly off putting taste and was overall bland and not very flavorful. Also service was extremely slow and lacking. However the ambiance can not be beat. Its a small cozy restaurant that can host large parties and the relatively dim lighting gives it a high end feel.
They can get really busy. You MUST make a reservation before hand to save yourself from all the trouble. The food here is really good even though the prices are abit steep. A dinner for 5 cost us around €200. But it is definitely worth it. The ambience is great and the dishes are Super authentic (I would know because I’m half Indonesian). Nice place overall if you want to go for a fancier dinner.
I can’t say this is the best Indonesian restaurant ever since this was our first time trying Indonesian food but it was a pretty good first experience.Since it was our first time we had no idea where to begin, but our server was kind and very patient with us and explained how the menu worked. You get to try many small dishes so you can pick and choose what you want to eat.
Great place for Rijstafel.Starts with the crispies and about 10 different items to taste. Very delicious and sumptuous. Flavorful cooking.Open for Lunch and Dinner. I have visited this place for both. Lunch hours less crowded. Definitely take reservation for dinnerEven if you dont have reservation but they have empty spots, they might not let you in. haha never understood that part though
Someone like me who ate Indonesian food for the first time ... I would advise you to steer away if you dont like too much sweet things... And if its the other way around ... Then you will be in heaven...Everything tasted sweet except for the fish crackers served with some spicy sauces ... That really got me excited that I am going to eat some wonderful spicy food...But it turns out that was all the spice I was going to have... Maybe they have modified it to match the European palate... Would have to figure it out by visiting Indonesia..
Amazing Indonesian rice table -this was one of my favorite meals while on vacation with my daughter. I loved that we could share a great vegan meal and I didn’t feel I was missing out on anything-the flavors were beyond wonderful. They have several options to choose from so it’s great for everyone to enjoy.
Obviously, being a tourist, I wanted to avoid the tourist places. Not one of the people in here were tourists. All local Dutch! Tasty food and genuine Indonesian food made for an incredible evening. Located directly in front of the flower market, it also provides perfect access to the town, day or night!
The food was really nice and the atmosphere was great too. The rice table we ordered had a great selection of different things to try and left us feeling very satisfied!
