Siddavatam fort also called as sidhout fort was constructed in 1303. After that power changed many hands over the years. Now this fort lost its glory because of the negligence. I was shocked theres no entry fee and its on the verge of destruction. This fort is surrounded by hills on all sides and Penna river on one side. There are many temples inside the fort and also there is a mosque.

Though it is maintained good the visitors dont care about their part. They all are just throwing the left over food around. Security has to be increased to take care of such things. The fort had a great history but its becoming a garbage spot at present. Water scarcity is a another big issue.

A journey of just 45 minutes from Cuddapah via bhakarapet will leads to sidhavatam. It will take one full day to visit all places in sidhavatam particularly its fort and sidhavateswara temples nearby. Fort is still in good condition and best suited place for school children, college students and general visitors. River Penna is flowing just touching the forts outer walls. There is a secret way into the river from the forts masjid. Fort is with good sculptures, and its rare surroundings. Good transport facilities there between Cuddapah and Nellore via sidhavatam. Home like breakfast and dining facilities are there in some of the arya vysya hotels in sidhavatam village.

An amazing place for a day trip! Historically immersive experience that has been maintained pretty well by ASI. Lots of details and lots of interesting learnings! The secret passage to the River Pennar was fun to find. Not to mention the exquisite carvings, the still standing bastions, moat, both the courtyards, new and old mosques, the headless Nandhi statue, the buried lingaa... Had a wonderful experience! And PS: for those in need of short eats or water, there is a shop near the dargah!

Located at a distance of about 25 Kms from Kadapa, Sidhout Fort is a very famous tourist attraction of the area. It is also known as Gateway to Srisailamor Dakshina Kasi. The fort is situated on the banks of river Pennar. Various temples are located inside the fort and attract a huge number of pilgrims apart from tourists throughout the year. Visiting this fort provides a state of peace and relaxation to every individual, which makes it a treasure to visit once in your lifetime. The fort is situated at the foot of Lankamalla hills and is a perfect example of military strategy and architectural skills of our ancient India. The fort is also known as Siddavatam Fort among tourists.History of Sidhout FortSidhout fort was constructed in 1303 AD and has a long history associated with it. The fort is said to be developed under the rule of King Varadha Raju, Son-in-law of Sri Krishna Deva Raya. Before coming into the rule of the Varadha Raju, it was under the rule of Matti Rajulu and used to be a mud fort. Prior to that it was a part of Udayagiri Kingdom and was given to Matti Yellama Raju as a gift for his support in many wars. In 1799 the fort became a part of British East India Company after ruled by many rulers including Aurangajebs Commander Mr Jumla II, Aarkatu Nawabs, Abdul Nabi Khan and Mayana Nawabs in different time periods.Architecture of Sidhout FortSidhout fort is spread across an area of 30 acres and is located on the banks of River Pennar. Many temples are situated inside the premises of the fort. These temples include Durga Temple, Siddheswara Temple, Bala Brahma Temple, and Ranganayaka Swamy Temple. Best thing about the architecture of this fort is that there is an ancillary passage through which the visitors can enter even after the closure of the main gates. Geteways and decorated pillars are easily seen from the two ends of the fort. Carvings of Gajalakshmi can be seen easily on the top of the fort. One can also see the 17 square bastions, which were used to protect the region once. How to Reach at Sidhout FortSidhout fort can be reached easily by road and rail both. Good place to spend some peaceful time with family. Have some great views as the fort is at the banks of penna river. A good historical place to explore about many things. You can see both Hindu and Muslim culture inside as it is ruled by many kings. Still many developments are going on to attract tourists and preserve the old history of Fort. There are many tourist places to see nearby like nithya pooja swamy kona inside forest, ranganatha swamy temple, as this place is starting for nallamala Hills of eastern ghats this place is also known as southern entrance for Srisailam.
