When you have family & friends from Himachal then authenticity of the cuisine served here will always be under scan. For a person to try new cuisine, it is an ok effort made at this small place. The sweet Babroo was yummy for the taste buds. The Himachali songs & Natti as they call were π with traditional sitting upstairs.
Taste - 4/5Portions - 5/5Ambience - 4/5Service - 5/5Value for money - 5/5Serving authentic himachali cuisine, this place is located in the middle bazaar.Small and cozy place reflecting clean & traditional aura. Wooden table seatings at the ground floor are quite comfortable but what actually gives the vibe is the upstairs decor.Small seatings on the wooden floor are sure to give authentic traditional himachali supper feels. The staff is very polite & informed about the menu & preparation time.Divided on the basis of days, the kangri dham thali is served on monday, tuesday, saturday & sunday. Mandyali dham thali is served on rest of the days.Any thali can be shared if ordered in half. The full thali being unlimited is not to be shared.1. Mandyali Dham Thali - 4/5On my day of visit, mandyali dham was being served.Rice is served with 5 curries and a dessert. Beans madra, sepu badi, khatta meetha kiddu, kadhi & mah dal were the curries in the thali and the dessert was kaddu & dry fruits sweet.I absolutely loved the sepu badi (lentil fritters in spinach gravy) & the kadhi (yogurt based curry). The taste of the food is delicious even without onions & garlic and the thali comes out as a complete delicious meal.2. Rehru (warm spiced lassi) - 5/5This was so flavourful, one of the best lassi that I have ever had. It was nice & warm, had that evident tangy flavour of spices but by no means this took away the essence of lassi.Absolute must have.3. Babroo - 3/5This dessert is a great way to end a traditional meal. Its a fried wheat bun with sweet layer of fillings and is served with a bowl of ghee to pour and relish. You could also try sidu which is a similar dessert except the wheat bun being steamed instead of fried.
Himachali rasoi is situated 25mtrs from the mall fire office first land mark is fire Station second is the old shiv temple the restaurant is at the left opp himalayan dhaba.Restaurants is having nice wooden furniture and pilings. Looks wonderful. Now lets come to the point restaurant is neat and clean food served is of good quality its traditional food staff is polite and friendly though i had ordered for kangra dham as a parcel, food was quite tasty price is reasonable @ βΉ238+gst=250.White chana and maah were very tasty black chana khata was not having any pakora over all it good option in one packed thali two people can enjoy full mealIf ur eating at the restaurant half thali is more than sufficient for a single person as it is unlimited.Bondi sweet dish was tasty enough out if 10 i will give 9 points 1 point deducted as i had ordered on telephone still i had to wait for 10 minutes, i am attaching menu card and telephone number for youPLEASE NOTE THEY ARE NOT DELIVERING ORDERS AT HOME DUE TO COVID-19
Food was really nice and authentic himachali taste. Ambience can be improved a lot. But Id suggest to go at least once to try out local cuisine if youre in Shimla.
Amazing food! I didnt expect the dishes to be soo flavourful. A must visit.
We saw this place as one of the restaurant to visit to taste local food. Its a small restaurant which has limited seating and has thali system ( half and full ). We ordered half and shared it. The quality of food was ok and food was sufficient for two people. Would like to recommend this place who wants to try some local dishes. Note to find this place take a road down from hide out cafe and turn left to find this place.
Must visit this place when you are in shimla...Authentic himachali food...Simple and basic but delicious...Better than other restaurants in shimla. Would like to mention about the person handling the hotel. He made it a point to explain in detail about the Thali.
Authentic Himachali Dhaam , a must try when you visit shimla to get an experience of the cuisine of Himachal.
Authentic Himachali food which is rare to find in Shimla now a days. The head chef Virender is very knowledgeable and courteous. He answered all my questions on the food variety and ingredients even though he gets these questions hundreds of times. A must visit indeed. Kudos to Youruber Harish Bali for recommending this place. This completes the Shimla tour.
Main point: Take one thali per person. Quantity is not much so you wont have problem finishing it.Nice, small cozy place. Food was delicious (I tried such food first time so my opinion cant be relied much π).For reference, I am from Delhi and found the food good.Tried dham thali and sweet babroo. Sweet babroo is just sweet enough to be called sweet..!
I love the simplicity of the restaurant situated in the middle Bazaar area off Shimla Mall. The food is authentic traditional cuisine of Dhaam style food. Two varieties of Dhaam is served one is Kangri and Mandiyaali on specific days in a rotation manner. A hidden treasure must for travellers who want to experience the authentic food of Himachal. They also serve Siddu.
Small restaurant but good. Just order thali.... simple and hygienic food..... More than enough for 1 person. π
Cool , who want to taste Himachali Food like Dham ( Kangri or Mandyali )Really Awesome ππ
Small crowded food. But delicious food. Poor service, takes time and slow respose. Limited options.Tried kangri thali and sidoo. Was amazing
Very nice place... And the siddu are tooo tasty...
Good taste but no vegetable item..all daal included... mandyali sweets are worth mentioning.. those who havent tasted Himachali quisine...its good for them
If you want to try some authentic himachali Veg cuisine. This is the place. GO FOR IT! The food was awesome and owner was a professional one. Its situated in Shimla Mall Road near Christ Church.
Quality is great but quantity is less. For taste only worth it but quantity wise not worth it
Amazing food and such nice service.Love the quaint atmosphere.Do try the Sidu(stuffed steamed wheat bun)A Must visit
I had their Kangri Dham Thali and the food was really delicious. This thali had only rice and 4 different gravies to eat with.If you never had Himachali food before then its a must try.Would like to go again...
Very nice cozy place to enjoy Himachali Dham. Himachali Dham is the traditional Himachali good served at weddings. They have thalis with options of both unlimited ones and limited ones. They have items like Sidu also which are good as well. They have 2 types of sitting one is table one and other the traditional one on floor. Good choice if you want to try good Himachali food.
They even can serve you stale or left over food...ones open time stander of Himachali Rasoi was good but now hopeless...
Not your traditional Himachali food.....highly spiced and average taste.
The best siddu (himachali delecacy) you will ever have.Nice place to have himachali food.
Very tasty and traditional Himachali food is available at Himachali Rasoi situated at Mall Road Shimla
Very greatful experience and and must visit place to dine in for the special and famous Pahadi food
Grossly overpriced and overhyped. The food is not even worth 50βΉ and they are charging βΉ250. And God help you if you order the half thali with its laughable portions served. One adult would eat 4 half thalis easily. If you just wish to throw your money in the gutter then visit this place. The rice served was stale and simply heated before serving.
Having reached Shimla a little past our standard lunch time we were ravenous. We wound our way to this highly recommended and immensely tiny place with all of four tables for some well heeded authentic Himachali food. Our first order was called Mandyali Dham Thali. Along with rice it had five curries- rajma (kidney beans) in yogurt curry (mandra), lentil cakes in spinach gravy (sepu badi), sweet and sour pumpkin (kaddu khatta), yogurt curry (kadhi), black lentil (mah dal) and there was a sixth which we donβt know what it was because it was not mentioned in the menu. The food was as great as the quantity. We shared a half thali between us and our stomachs were totally satiated though our hearts wanted more. Our second order was called Sidu (pronounced sid-du), a Himachali speciality. It is steamed wheat bun with filling. Both sweet and savoury are available. We took the savoury one where the filling was made of khus khus poppy seeds) and split lentil served with green chutney and ghee (clarified butter). Yum yum yum! Not to mention that Sidu was nothing like anything we had eaten before. We finished off our meal cups of steaming hot masala chai though a host of other kinds of teas were also available. The bill? A princely sum of βΉ325
The food was extremely good. We ordered thaali, siddu and wheat pancakes and not just our tummies, even our heart was full
Disclaimer:Haryana walo..humse na khaya jawe yahaStill if anyone want to try the food here1.just order one thali and i am sure 5-6 people can taste from it.2.No raita,no chapati..taste is not that good
Siddu was very tasty.one must try himchali food when going to shimla.
Wanted to try himachali thali..was good but its pure veg restaurant so if you are looking for a non-veg thali you will be disappointed..the place is pretty small...tried sweet Sidu not a big fan though it was just sweet khus khus with bao bun nothing interesting..Owner I felt was a bit rude maybe thats the way speaks..Dont know I felt he was rude...ddnt care much about the customers maybe because the restaurant is quiet famous..two stars bcz of the owner
A nice cozy place to have authentic himachal food in a traditional setting. Tried the daily dham thali - the chana dal was my favorite. They have table seating downstairs and a small area upstairs to sit on the floor and have food the traditional style. We chose to sit upstairs! In a very reasonable price, they provide an unlimited food thali. One thali can definitely serve two - unless youre super starving!I would recommend this over the other non-traditional cafes and restaurants on ridge.
Nice and tasty food, reaching the place is a task tough , need better directions...
They took too much time to prepare the dish, also we have ordered 4 items they gave us only after 1 hour
Must visit restaurant in Shimla if youre interested in vedic food. You will only get rice here. No chapati. Also, you will have opportunity to taste all kind of vedic Himachali daal here. Its pure veggie restaurant, even tea would be without milk. It would taste as masala tea but they call it herbal tea.
Really tasty food. Worth the price.
Very nice place to taste traditional himachal dishes.
Amazing authentic food
If you are a Himachali thn there are chances you will not find the dishes authentic... If you are a tourist... It gives you a rich experience of Himachali food... they serve two different types... Mandyali Dhaam and Kangri Dhaam... On alternate days of the week... Choose yours and visit according to it π
Its nice place to visit from Himachali food fresh&tasty food
Traditional tasty mandyali dham..The food was simple and delicious..must visit
Best place for himachali cuisine in Shimla mall road. Located in Mall road ( Lower bazar ) . Taste was awesome and place has cleanliness.
If you visit Shimla, do try native dishes. Kangri Dham Thali is just amazing. Not spicy or fancy items but soothing cultural dishes.
Best Himachali cusines to explore chlega

Must try in Shimla for authentic himachali food experience.
One stop shop for Himachali Dhaam...very tasty and hygienic...
This Place is at walkable distance from the scandal point . They serve really great Satvik Food ( No Onion Garlic) . Its traditional himachali food having lots of curry along with rice if you order a thali . Restaurant is not very big so youll feel it like its very fancy Restaurant but food they serve is pretty decent. MUST TRY If you love to eat vegetarian food .
A good place to have a taste of local cuisine in an economical way. A must visit restaurant in shimla.
Very good and authentic Himachali food. Service is a bit let down. Limited options from the menu available. A bit difficult to find the place which is nestled within a local market. However the food makes it worth taking the pain to go there
Nice little cozy place. If anyone wants authentic Himachali food, this is must go place. Taste and quality are superb.
The ambience was ok. Seating area is bit cramped. Had ordered mandyali thali and found taste was interesting. Try ordering half thali initially as full thali (unlimited ) might be more if you are not used to the taste and bit higher cost too. Rehru lassi and sidu was nice. Kangra chai was not so interesting. Happy fooding...
Must try if in shimla ππππgood luck
One of the best places to eat a traditional himachali thali. One thali is enough for 2 people....the sepu badi in mandyali thali is the best part. The price is very cheap...Do try π
Food was very authentic to the region and many herbs and ayurvedic jadibuti masala curries ... all jain loved the food...
How people says its best and good and all ... On reading reviews I preferred visiting for lunch. Did not expected it would be so worst.
Decent thali experience at reasonable prices
Definitely not the good one
This is the only and best himachali food in Shimla. It is kangri food only
Loved the traditional Himachali thaali.
Ohhhhh....... Ive spent quality time here ..... amazing experience
