We had one of the best experience at this lounge. The food was amazing and the view along with it was breathing taking. The cost is bit on a higher side but is worth every penny. We ordered salsa nachos and pizza and it tasted amazing. It had a great ambience and you can enjoy live band along with the view.The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. We shifted our seat thrice and they were okay with it. The service was fast.Its is by far the best food place I visited in Shimla.A must try!!

The restaurant is next to the Mall Lift. A huge place with good sitting capacity & an open lounge that comes with a great view. The menu is diverse and delicious. I ordered mixed sauce pasta and chicken burger. Pasta was great but the burger was okay-ish. Overall I had a good time.

I went here with high expectations and boy was I disappointed. The chicken steak was inedible except for the sauteed veggies. The vegetarian quesdillas was okaish. May be there are other items in the menu which might be better but there are better places to eat. So, not worth the hype. Ambience was good enough.

Preferred place to have a nice time with your friends or family.The Cafe Sol Bar has a good view & ambience if one wants to enjoy some drinks. The drinks are priced almost double that youd pay at other top notch places, and the quality of snacks has also become substandard in the recent days.The indoor lounge has a menu of their own, and they have quite a comprehensive menu from Continental, Mexican, Italian & Chinese cuisines. The pricing here also is a bit on the higher side, but the taste & quality of food here is better than what they serve outside in the bar.

The word cafe in the name is very misleading. Its a fine dining restaurant at a very prime location. The overall ambience of the restaurant is quite excellent. Its part of the hotel combermere. We had ordered 1 stuffed chicken steak with mushroom sauce and a pasta (of which I dont remember the name). The chicken steak was exceptionally done and the mushroom sauce complemented it. Visit the place if you are in the mood for good Italian/continental food.

Amazing heated indoor space with great ambience , service and speed- I ordered hot chocolate on a cold April evening and loved it- perhaps priced a bit higher but I guess inline with other Mall Road options

Delicious chicken pasta, must try! We stopped here because we were tired and it looked fancy from outside.Its expensive. Pasta was 480 including tax. The guard forewarned us that only continental food is served as if we didnt know what were stepping into🤣

Been going here for ages.... And Its still a great place to go for a meal. Well located next to the lift, good place for young kids and elders alike. Good ambience and an attentive staff as well with a menu most would be happy with, selection wise. There is also a small bakery selection and was very happy to find some caramel toffees available there. They have just about opened up as on my last trip to the mall they were shut. Alcohol available as well as I saw some tables getting beer.Rating it a 3 primarily for 2 reasons. The first being the food I specifically ordered, lamb chops. Great portion size and good taste as well but i got the feeling that they mixed some old chops with new ones. The first piece I had was almost fall of the bone but the other 2 far far harder and intact difficult to cut.The second reason was the cost... The item was not listed on the current menu but available from the kitchen. Final cost was 1200 but in some of the older photos that I saw of the menu pre lockdown the cost was around 600.... So i am a little confused on this but happy to remove if the restaurant can clarify. My fault though... Should have cross checked the price before confirming but I thought it would be around what one had seen.

The view is great but the food is as bad. Their prices are also expensive in comparison to other restaurants but the point is that atleast the food should be good. In my view they charge you for the ambience, food is below average. Garlic bread didnt have Mozzarella cheese, pizza was dry. And even after giving them a feedback of their incompetence they seemed to be least bothered.

This place is charging over GST on food which is suppose to be 5% and they are charging 18% which from there hotel. I mean if somebody not staying at there hotel they still have to pay that. They wrongly charging their customers

The sol lounge is really nice.... however the snacks tasted a little punjent....food is good.Lounge ambience is really nice which could be made better with good music and better staff.

Place is awesome. Ambience is next to none. Food is delicious. Their bakery items can not be missed. You will hate Dominos or Pizza Hut after trying their pizza.

Soup and garlic bread is good but grilled chicken breast is worst after changing also there is a hair on that as you can see in the photo. They should take care of food while making during this pandemic to serve the guest.Pls dont prefer to go in that restaurant bcz of its good lounge

Very poor experience with the staff who misbehaved with me and my friends. The management seriously needs to supervise over the staff and recheck the credentials of the latter. I have been visiting this place for quite a long time but todays incident totally ruined my liking for the place. Shame

Its a Devine place100 marks for its superb location n lip smacking food.Service was spot on n very quick.But it certainly needs to improve the behaviour of its waiters as the one serving us was a little rude.Rest everything was upto the mark starting from pasta to pizzas to burgers .All in all paisa wasool.

Nice restaurant, cozy, beautiful interior, tasty food and quite many options. Prices arent too expensive. Washroom there is only in the hotel near by. Taxes are 18% because its the part of the hotel

Each slice was inconsistent with toppings and how cooked it was. Salad was so rotted I had to throw it away or risk food poisoning. The pasta looked crusty so I stayed away should have just stayed away from this place altogether. Awful. Anyone with more than a one star review was paid for sure.I found this to be completely unacceptable. Bristles should not be side orders to your meal. By the way, it was indeed a HAIR on my food, not a brush bristle. Either one would be unacceptable. The owner did not offer an apology,Overpriced, Tasteless, Disgusting, Not worth at all, will not give even 1* to this cafe.

Service here is pathetic and extremely rude staff. The bartender and waiters keep you waiting to take your order and to top it all with their arrogance, if you enquire something, they give rude remarks. Especially the bartender who started arguing with us on a simple inquiry about soup or coffee being served at the place. Even though the ambience is great, i wouldnt recommend this place for anyone who has their aelf respect. I would personally recommend Cafe Shimla times for a better, classier experience.

Location is excellent with a breathtaking view of the valley. On one side it opens onto mall road.

Very nice cafe. Fortunately I have seen snowfall there. It was a best experience. Where the outside temp was around -1 degree they have maintained a cozy temp inside. There bar side resturant was also good. Must visit.

Amazing ambience, food certainly needs to improved and staff too. Right at the starting of Mall Road of Shimla SOL it is rooftop cafe and lounge and from there beautiful view of Shimla can be seen. Live band plays on weekends and the singers are simply phenomenal. Be there to enjoy the perfect weather with some drinks and the beautiful view.

Service was awful, felt like eating in a dhaba. Ordered ham and cheese sandwich. Asked if the ham is chicken or pork to which they said chicken but instead gave me extra chicken in it and charged for it which is fine. It had nothing what it said on the menu and came without lettuce, parmesan and an in house sauce. It was basically toasted bread with cheese, a slice of ham and some chicken. The pasta was horrible with burnt garlic and couldnt be eaten. Nachos were bad as well. The pricing is alright for a rooftop cafe with a nice ambience but the food lives up nowhere near to it.

It is part of the hotel Combermere and is located just near to the place where the escalators drop you on Mall road (though we always preferred the steps and that was some fun with my wife and my 7y old daughter). Quiet and nice ambeince with great variety of quick and delicious bites. Worth the money. So much so that we went there twice in two days. Service is quick and staff courteous.

The cafe is situated at beautiful destination .Firstly they ask you to sanitize your hands with their free hand sanitizer machine . A person is always standing near the door . They greet you and open the door for you . Once you enter the cafe youll immediately fall in love with the ambience . Its very cosy and the seating arrangements are also very comfortable . I ordered grilled chicken burger and a coke . It hardly took 15 minutes for my order to arrive. The burger plate consisted of a big burger which had juicy chicken patty , pickles , tomato , onion , Lettuce , cheese . The burger itself was wholesome but they also give you French fries and salad as side dishes . Tomato ketchup , mustard and Tabasco was also on the table . I paid Rs 570 . Which I think was ok . Perfect place to go with family and friends . You can even go on dates and also if you want to treat yourself some good food and good place

Great Ambience, good food and nice service...a tad expensive but worth a visit

The cafe is located right at the mall road of Shimla. The ambiance of place of peaceful and have a lovely dining. They serve multiple cuisines and after tasting a particular one I became their fan. The food was absolutely delicious and I saw a whole new variety of food which isnt available easily in the Indian market I mean the restaurant which serve the similar food. The place is definitely worth visiting.

Beautiful place. I visited it in November 2019 with my wife and we were pretty satisfied and happy that we didnt miss it on our Shimla tour. Quite appropriately groomed staff, their attitude was simply professional.Coming onto the food i loved the Creme Mushroom soup and Mezze Platter veg. Garnishing and presentation of food was also good. Clean and beautiful cutlery they have. I must say Shimla visitors do visit the place to have good food and service in an ambience of taste.

Easily the best cafe in Shimla if we are talking about the food! It has everything you can ask for - Italian, Mediterrian, Chinese, desserts... Try their non veg mezze platter, chicken Cleopatra, chicken sizzler, crispy chicken burger and vegetable lasagne! Yum! After your meal, try their various cookies and coffees - we particularly enjoyed the Vienna coffee with coconut cookies, chocolate brownie cookies and their nankhatais!

I went to this restaurant for dinner but ended up leaving with a full stomach and dissatisfaction. Apparently went to another restaurant to have a second round of dinner. The only two things that were good about the place was the ambience & decor and polite staff. Otherwise, the food was pretty bad and in accordance was exorbitantly priced. Would never visit again

Nice layout and ambiance.Prominent location, you find it as you just come out of the lift on the Mall road.They have nice variety of tea and served very well.Lots of non vegetarian options in food in the menu.We ordered Fish items. Very well presented, but the fish was not of top class. May be Fish is not a common choice here. The accompaniments are very good too.Over all we liked it.

The restaurant is situated on the top of Hotel Combermere, and opens right at the Mall Road. We ordered a chicken lasagna, cheese pizza, cream of tomato soup and a white sauce pasta.The best thing out of all these were: *drum rolls please* Chicken Lasagna!Overall, the food was good and the staff was very polite, as well.Situated at a very easy-to-access location, this restaurant is not too costly and serves amazing food!Do visit it on your next visit to Shimla!

A decent place to visit and chill out

It is a beautiful cafe, very well lit, not at all crowded, and has a beautiful ambience. The food is good and bakery is good as well. It offers a lot of variety in food which is generally not found in cafés in shimla. The price however is on a higher side but is still not that extravagantly pricey.

Cafe Sol is one of the top 10 cafes in Indias Hill Stations.Centrally located at Mall Road, Shimla, it gives you scenic views and full view of Church. This cafe is located at Hotel Combermere. Coffee is must have. You can get all variety of cakes and cookies as well. Though it is towards a little expensive side. Five cups of coffee cost us around 900 bucks.Ample seating area with a little of british touch. Overall a very good cafe and must go when you are in Shimla.Posting few photographs for reference.

We were told that we can move there but need to wait couple minutes as the table was being cleaned. After waiting several minutes standing near the dirty table with drinks in our hands and again requesting several guys to clean the table, we complained to the manager but he rudely replied that it will take several more minutes and move back to old table. Table got cleaned after a lit of heated discussion with manager.Finally at the new table, we ordered a snack platter and waiter took the order. We waited around 30 minutes for the order but nothing. When asked, waiter replied that order is canceled as the grill is closed. No one even cared to inform us without asking.TLDRVisit only if you have a LOT of patience and tolerance for insouciant staff
