The Tara Devi Temple is a holy place, located 11 km away from the Shimla Bus Stand. It is positioned amid a thick forest of oak and rhododendron and offers scenic views of the lofty Himalayas surrounding the town. Located on a hilltop outside Shimla town, the temple is accessible by road with a brief climb at the very end, which shouldnt be a big deal. Its location provides for 360 degree views that still mesmerise me, even though Im a local and have visited the temple countless times. Can be fairly windy, so would be wise enough to carry an extra layer if the weather isnt too friendly. Like most of Shimla, this temple also has a lot of monkeys around which usually wont bother anyone unless they sight or sense eatables. So best would be to carry them concealed in a bag.On a clear winter evening the views can be spellbinding

Very peaceful and beautiful place. With amazing view, it is one of the best sun set point, Ive ever been. Phone camera doesnt do the justice to sunset.There are two ways to reach there, either you can choose to with a vehicle thru sugi or you can go by trek which is really really good, the trail is good for beginners and few places with good scenic views.

A beautiful temple. Its close to Shimla roughly around 15 Kms from Shimla city centre. It is located on a hill top.The road to the temple is quite curvy and steep and would require a skilled driver .Once on top, the view is beautiful. The temple is beautiful. A new temple structure is being built presently .If you visit the temple on Sunday, Tuesday or Government holidays, there is a bhandara ( free food) . We were lucky to have this bhandara and the food was simple but delicious. They served rice along with 5 dishes!One should definitely visit this temple of Goddess Tara Devi.Mobile signal is avble and you can get 4G connectvity even at the hill top.Ample parking space is avble. You can hire a cab or take a government bus to reach here.A word of caution - Beware of monkeys. There are quite a few .Do not carry any food in hand.

Loved it. I visited this place early in the morning so it was very peaceful there .its wall and the whole temple is made up of wood.and its beauty is just awesome.

The timings of opening/closing are not followed as such. Its a beautiful temple with a scenic view around if you are able to get in.

A must visit place for peace lovers. Valley view is awesome. You can reach there by your private vehicle or by cab. Public bus service is also available from shoghi bus stand. In stairs of temple be aware of monkey. Better have a stick with you.

Tara Devi temple was built by Sen dynasty kings sometime around 1766 A.D. The fort of Giri Sen is still there in Junga.Tara Goddess in Hinduism and Buddhism is second of the Ten Great Wisdoms called ‘Mahavidyas’ and is known to be a source of all energies. The word ‘Tara’ is derived from Sanskrit root ‘tr’, which means to cross. The word ‘tara’ also means star in many Indian languages.

Its a steep uphill drive. Temple is right on top of the hill and has beautiful views. Structure is made of wood and stone and is clean and pretty. Even after you reach the top in a car, you need to walk a few flights of stairs to reach the temple. So not for people with leg/ heart problems. Though there are seats at every level so one can rest or take a break and go up.

Beautifully built, amazing view points & clean environment is what you can expect as you visit the temple.The weather is mesmerizing due to the height & its a place to fall in love with.

A must go site and divine place if you have time while coming back from Shimla...Just 12 km from Shimla the way goes 7 km steep up to this temple...But, once you reach up, the view of Shimla is just amazing...The temple is very beautiful...A big parking space is available near the temple entrance...But driving up is a critical task so I would suggest to only go if you are good at driving...

All said falls short when are you at Tara Devi temple. There is a very strong belief about the place that whatever you wish, it comes true. The place is so quiet that you can hear yourself breathing. The view from here is amazing and on special occasions, this place also serves langars. We were amongst the lucky ones to be a part of that langar. Its said that there is no point of visiting Shimla if you havent been here. So make sure you make it here.

Good ambience and the view from the top is refreshing. Nice destination for those who seek peace of mind. They also have a pedestrian route to reach the road.(Long journey but its a good experience)

The upwards climb is pretty arduous but once you reach the top, you have a sight to behold. It is absolutely brilliant looking and well maintained. Situated on the top of the mountain. Even if you are not religious still would recommend you to visit the place. Probably you get the best view of the Shimla from the top of the temple. Would suggest to take taxi or car to the temple else you may have to walk a lot which may be difficult for who are not used to tracking.

Best time to visit this temple on weekdays is earlier than 10.00 a.m.On sunday, there is also a langar held here.

We went there during Early of jan , as reaching to heights we actually able to saw snow on road just because of its location , there is fully parking space The Tara Devi Temple is perched atop a hill at a height of 7,200 feet above sea level.there is shiv temple on other is side of it which is on other other of it. During Jan the other half of the mountain is filled with 3 to 4 snow . We enjoy it a lot . There were monks who also came there.
