Devi Chowdhurani, the famous leader of Sannyasi or Fakir Andolon during the British Raj era, is said to be stayed here during her movement throgh this Baikunthapur region. Today nothing but few old banyan trees and a later built Samsan Kali Temple can be seen. A festival during the Kali Puja is held every year.

Very historic place. Very nice. The West Bengal government has done a lot of projects around the temple, including rebuilding the temple. It is really necessary to preserve such a historical place.
