I went with family for a dinner with no reservation, which i shouldn’t have done, and the place was packed but they kindly offered to assist after a couple mentioned they were leaving shortly.Food wise, i bet anyone can get decent food wherever, but this place offers the best service in my perspective, with authentic Indian cuisine served in authentic dishes. and even though we were there during the covid thing with no buffet available whatsoever, we found the menu to be decent, an almost all inclusive for a fixed price, which i found to be pretty decent.This place is definitely worth a detour and i will for sure go back again.

Excellent food. Great staff. Although pricey compared to similar restaurants in Montreal, the food is always of high standard, fresh and enjoyable. High-quality all around and a must visit for anyone seeking Indian food in Sherbrooke.

Worst experience!! I ordered kofta with naan, and the guy gave me thali saying koftas are finished. He mentioned that he will give me thali for koftas and naan price. Later the waitress served me a plate of koftas even after knowing the situation. In the end, guy charged me for both thali and koftas. Food quality was also worst, I got food poision.

Shrimp vindaloo is exquisite. Staff are quick and polite. Very good food and clean place. Would recommend!

So great to get flavourful Indian food in Sherbrooke. So delicious.

Me and my friends who’ve grown up eating Indian/Middle Eastern cuisine were excited when everyone we knew recommended this restaurant to us as authentic and delicious.It was not.We had gone to the buffet and tried all they had to offer, from the under seasoned and under cooked rice to the off tasting cauliflower curry. It all tasted so bad. We ended eating naan and chutney for dinner, regretting ever coming and vowing to never come again unless we were desperate.

Delicious! Very impressed with the buffet selection and the friendly server, who Im sure Ive seen somewhere before!, was very helpful - taking the time to explain all the options. If you arent sure what to order, try the butter chicken with a gin and 7-up made with cucumber - scrumptious! All around great place, service, atmosphere - everything top notch!

I came here for the first time on February 27 2015 and I keep going back. The service here was superb. Ive never been to India but I feel like I just left the home of a wonderful Indian family. The food was great and as a vegetarian they made vegetarian butter chicken (with tofu) for myself. The rest of the vegetarian options were also great. The server and everyone working were delightful. I highly recommend this restaurant to any Indian cuisine connoisseur.

Menu isnt timely available when buffet is, buffet is overpriced (80$ plus tip for 2 adult and a kid?) and has little to no vegetarian options. Price for kids is expensive as well. Sad because the regular menu makes sense and the food was pretty good.

This place is horrible its very costly for 2 adults and 1 child it cost 84$ even their is not lots of variety to eat we are very disappointed i will never go there again. In another buffet we do have lots of varieties and the price is very affordable. We got only 2 vegetables and lentils to eat even my child didn’t eat that much and only 2 type of dessert ice cream with a cheap sauce mango or chocolate this sauce is only 2$ which was not good to eat.

Sincerely saying I hail from south India and have tasted almost most of the south Indian and few north Indian dishes... First of all I would like to classify it as an expensive place. In addition the food cant be categorised as genuine Indian cuisine as it is modified to fit to Canadian cuisine. Being a Google local guide I think it is my responsibility to be genuine. If you want to taste real Indian dishes that matches traditional Indian cuisine visit one of your Indian friends or visit restaurants in Montréal. They are far far better....

The restaurant offer buffet of Indian dishes. The number of dishes in the buffet are less but tasty. Always book a table beforehand. They also serve on the menu dishes on Wednesday.

We always do take-out at Shalimar, as the restaurant is usually crowded and space is limited. When we have eaten in the restaurant, the service is warm and friendly. No wonder Shalimar is popular with locals. The food is well prepared, punctual, and delicious tasting. I particularly like the pakoras and the vindaloo. The menu is limited, but every item is kind to palate and digestion. It is not cheap, but the quality is superior. Being on the road very often and in restaurants at least a dozen times a week, this is by far the best Indian I’ve had. Butter chicken is a slam dunk. The spices and aromas are all a great part of the experience. Ask for Tim to be your waiter, great sense of humour. To end the Chai tea is fantastic.

The best restaurant near Sherbrooke in my opinion. The only true indian option around. Well balanced between vegetarian-meat, spicy-mild, and heavy-light options. Everyone will love it. A bit expensive, but worth it.

Shalimar offers table d’hôte menus at lunch and supper on Wednesdays and lunch buffets Thursdays and Fridays, as well as a supper buffets Thursday through Sunday evenings. Saturday evenings buffet is the most sophisticated. À la carte dining is available upon request and depending on occupancy of the restaurant. Its always a good idea to call ahead for questions or special requests. Takeout is available too! Do not miss out, Shalimar is the real deal.

Lunch buffet has decent options: naan, chicken/meat/lentil gravy, white rice, daal and salads. Everything was a little bland and the bread wasnt freshly prepared which was a big bummer.

The place was surprisingly full of people for quite a small space, it was a buffet and I have trouble eating something with no name especially because Im vegetarian, yes I do know what meat looks like but it would have been nice to know the name of the dishes and what was in it! I found it really expensive for what it really was. Really not my cup of tea. The service was ok, I liked the fact that I had the chance to talk to the chef and when she learned that I was a vegetarian she offered to cook something for me which was really appreciated

Opened more than 25 years ago Shalimar is must for fine indian food in Sherbrooke. A family run place where you can chat with the owner. They use first class ingredients and their food is just spicy enough. My favorites are the naan bread, the curry beef and the lentils soup. Whether its for the buffet or the à la carte menu its definitely a must in the region.

I am indian and I wanted to show a friend some of the food from my culture, it was a bad decision to go there, a very small selection of old and cold dried out curries, with some rock hard naan, and the price was expensive for what they offered, I honestly felt like they insulted my culture with this food do your self a favor and dont go here.

I love Shalimar. I miss the buffet formula which allows us to taste several things but it is the reality for 2021. We therefore have the table dhôte formula. The thalis we ate were delicious. Butter chicken, lamb, tandoori chicken. The tandoori was served on a really delicious fall of cabbage and served with a vegetable pilaf and raita. I would have liked to have had some dahl too but the chicken and cabbage was worth it. The others are served with white rice, raita, a really good dalh and a cauliflower curry. Order your chaie tea before you finish eating if you want it along with the coffees. They offer a local draft beer the Foxtail brewed for them really very good.

Very good service, good butter chicken, the Naans are excellent and quality and quantity of the food to match the price. Dining room that can accommodate around 40 people in addition to the bar counter. Beautiful menu with choices of meats and veg options! To discover!
