Shri Shri 1008 Baba Mathardev the Great spiritual Guru and one of the true devotees of Lord Shiva, once lived there in Sarni. Baba Mathardev considered as Gram devta literally means deity of village. At the hill top temple Mathardev baba once practice the abhishekam of Lords Shivling with Mattha meaning buttermilk, thats why his name was Mathardev.This place has a great importance in this town. People visit here throughout year but crowd is on peak during the month of January at the occasion of MakarSankranti.This is temple is very famous across North India.The way to reach at the top of temple is only by the steps an average person may take 2hours to reach there.At some places steps are not properly having slopes and are hazardous. So its recommended that you must wear proper shoes and keep a Bamboo support if you are going first time to such a hill top.Best views and scenes of Satpura valley will be captured from here.You can get a clear top of Satpura thermal power plant and town Sarni from here.Definately it feels great from hill top.I visit mostly 2-3 times every year.Must visit once if you are new in Sarni.
