The Sangli Ganpati Mandir Is situated on the eastern bank of Krishna river. The construction of the temple is started in1814 by Chintamanrao Patwardhan, the first head of the Sangli, to honor the guarding deity of the Sangli city. The construction of the temple took a period of 30 years and was completed in 1845. The king consecrated the idol of lord Ganesha in this temple only, in 1952. A red stone arch was erected in front of the Ganesh temple . The rest of the temple was completed during the reign of Chintamanrao ll. Vijay Singh Patwardhan has recently renovated and transformed this temple.

My hometown... this temple carries the legacy of Pathwardhan royal family (family of Bhagyashri Patwardhan from Maine Pyaar Kiya)... very serene place...there is enough place to seat inside the temple compound... it is situated just at the entrance of Sangli when you come from Islampur- Ashta....

This is one of the best Ganpati Temples in Maharashtra. You can spend hours here. Had visited in tuesday and the beat part was the crowd is nil here. You can easily have the darshan and sit and meditate for few hours.The temple is old but maintained very well. So, if you are coating Sangli do visit here.

The most beautiful temple in south Maharashtra. It is situated on the banks of river Krishna at Sangli. Thorle (elder) Chintamanrao Patwardhan consecrated the idol in 1843.The temple has been artistically built with black stone brought from Jyotibha hills. There is a platform, a hall and a Nagarkhana inside the vast two acres complex of the temple. The entrance door has been carved out of different coloured natural wood.
