We had such a great time! There were activities for lots of different ages and we spent so much time upstairs that we had to come back the next day to experience most of the downstairs. The family pass was a good deal because it pays for itself after the second visit. Now we have the pass for the next year! We will be back since the museum has some exhibits that were closed during our visits. If you park in the SJ parking garages, you can get your parking validated and only pay $5 for the day!

Can’t help but think this place has lost focus in recent years. Its old name “Tech Museum of Innovation” was more about various hands-on tech exhibits and just random cool stuff for kids to explore. It was always a neat place to visit and had that cool 90s vibe (that’s a good thing). Now they’ve changed the name to “The Tech Interactive” and the museum has ironically moved away from being interactive to an actual museum, as its old name suggested. It’s very mature now and doesn’t really have that cool exploration vibe anymore. I remember how awesome it was to enter that massive atrium after buying tickets and looking up and down at the vast number of tech exhibits there were. They’ve switched focus to fewer, large-scale exhibits which weirdly don’t seem to have as much to do with tech. I support the initiative of renovating dated exhibits and even replacing old ones, but I’m not sure the direction they’ve gone is a good one. There’s a lot of biology-related stuff… and while that has a place in children’s education, I don’t think The Tech is where it should be taught. In other, more simple terms, I’d be much more excited as a kid to go to a museum where I could design my own roller coaster, race wheelchairs or experience an earthquake, than use augmented reality to view deconstructed human bodies through a tablet computer. The museum doesn’t lack cool exhibits, mind you - it just does compared to what it had 10 years ago. It used to be wacky, with weird, random tech-related exhibits that kids could just run to and have the time of their lives. It seems like a lot of the exhibits they have today won’t be appreciated by kids as much. I’m just sad that along with the name change came a change in the focus of the museum as a whole.

We have been to many science and children’s museums with my son, now six. The Tech is without a doubt one of the best we have ever been to for my son’s love of building and creating. We are only in San Jose for three days and may go twice just because he loved it so much. We avoided the body section because even his parents were too squeamish for that, but everything else was an amazing opportunity to explore science and engineering. Come here often.

A very fun and educational place to take the family. Lots of interesting things to learn about and its fun because there are a lot of hands on activities that you can do in the exhibits. Very fun and educational interactions for parents and children. Theres also a cafe and gift shop which is a good thing because if you want to enjoy everything, you need to be here all day. A great tech museum located in the heart of Silicon Valley! Amazing interactive exhibitions: great for kids to spark their interest in and learn more STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) through different “games”! Even for adults, it is so much fun to visit! We have an annual family pass!!! We go visit here multiple times a year! Every time when we take friends and family members here, they really enjoy it!!! Highly recommend it!!!Don’t forget to watch an IMAX movie in the dome theater!!! Check their show schedule online before you go!!!

Excellent experience! Loved the Body Worlds Decoded exhibit! The museum was definitely designed for kids in mind! There was a bunch of hands on things to get kids engaged in learning! Everything from the senses, coding, robotics, space, and animals (movies on the pandas and sharks). And a microbiology area where you make your own glow in the dark bacteria with different colors that they record!

We brought our 9 year old daughter here for a weekend field trip and we were so impressed with how engaging and interesting the museum was! Our daughter was totally in to the engineer testing & robot making, but there was so much else to see and do! We needed more time in the day and are considering a membership! My husband and I really enjoyed the Bodies display and found it extremely interesting, however it was a little too graphic for our daughter who thought it was kinda gross. Overall it was an excellent experience and I highly recommend it for the curious child and parents alike!

It was my first time going and let me just say so disappointed. I expected it to be an amazing experience because so many people told me it was, but it was not for me. Now I went to see a new movie there, maybe the experience is different when you watch a nature documentary? The screen is so blurry it made my head hurt, that never happens when I go to the theaters and I do go quite often. But this was just my experience, I would say try it out maybe it’s different for you.

Great place to bring your kids. Most suited to youth and teens. Having said that, this middle-aged guy and 18 year-old son were fascinated by several of the exhibits and interactive activities. The Tech Interactive will provide you a validation that lets you check out of the parking garage with a $5 charge. Living outside of CA I learned a lot from the seismology exhibits.

I grew up in Washington, D.C. where museums are everywhere (Smithsonian, Spy Museum, FBI, etc). Its nice to go to a museum thats in the Silicon Valley area, great for families and visitors. The latest exhibit, Body Worlds Decoded, is phenomenal. Using interactive technologies, you are provided with a tablet and can interact with the exhibits. Go through an eye to see the inner workings, check out how the digestive system works - see your own skeleton move before your very eyes. Kids of all ages will be amazed. This is the future for museums - letting the visitor be engaged in a new reality!

I’m conflicted on this place. First off, the price is too steep for what you get. $25 for adults! I went solo and quickly learned that this place is geared towards children. There was nothing of interest on the bottom floor, so I quickly walked through and then made my way to the top floor. The highlight of my visit was the “Body Worlds Decoded” exhibit. You can check out a tablet which provides 3D viewings of various parts of the body. Using the heart as an example, I was able to walk around it and see it from every angle. The exhibit uses human skeletons, which was interesting. I learned so much and was able to see what healthy organs looked like as opposed to unhealthy organs. Other than this exhibit, I didn’t see anything else worth spending my time on. Worth noting, the museum has a gift shop and café that you can visit as well.

Interesting place to visit with family. Not suitable for too little children. Depends of the child but I would not go there with child under 5 years old.Lot of interactive content. Also possibility to build things like crane or catapult and then test how it works. There are many simulation stations like earthquake, tornado bubble, yoga breething and flying and many more. I loved the most earthquake and flying stimulators(using flying stimulator is for extra fee). Quite real feeling on both. Most of action stations have instructors who assist you if need and tell you more about the station subject. So when you leave the place you have more kowledge, experience and you are feel also entertained.Place has also science shop you can buy various science themed items.

Ive always enjoyed The Tech, but now it is a million times better. Now Body Worlds Decoded is free with admission. There are way more interactive stations than there were before. Even though today was Free Museum Day, there was still plenty of room for everyone even though there were a lot of people in there. There were multiple IMAX movies available to watch instead of just one. They had a lot of staff available to answer questions and to teach about the exhibits. The bathrooms were immaculate. The Tech Store seems bigger, as does the cafe. I love the fact that the moon scale tells me that I weigh 20 pounds! Even though the line was wrapped around the corner, we all got in very quickly.

TONS of things to fascinated yourself with. There should be something for everyone. The entrance fee is rather cheap for all the things you can do there, and there are a few stations where you can opt into extended technological experiences (one of them was a EEG measurement tool that would track different characteriatics and give you a more detailed breakdown after 30 minutes). The Body World portion was a little much for me at times; the full-bodies were very up-close and personal and made me squeemish. Other displays were highly informative and quite cool!

The Tech Interactive is a family-friendly interactive science and technology centre. It is a Silicon Valley landmark for visitors seeking a glimpse of the innovative place. If you are going here - you have to understand - its still a childrens interactive museum. Designed to instill love and respect for science. Adults will be interested in virtual reality. Especially $ 8 flight simulator. Hes worth it.The IMAX cinema was also particularly struck, where you really feel in the city of new technologies.I really liked the exhibition of the human body, it was exciting and breathtaking. All these bodies are real people who gave their bodies after death for scientific purposes. It was awesome. The entrance fee to the museum is 25 dollars for an adult.#familyfriendly #sanjose #localguides #letsguide #thetech

I thought that the museum was really fun because it was very interactive and hands-on. A lot of the technology was pretty advanced, and I found it interesting how the museum used forms of technology to enhance their teaching methods to younger audiences. It was an overall fun experience and I was able to learn a lot!

Hmm. I guess to start off it was more kid friendly than I thought. I only bought the general admission for the exhibit which was 25 dollars I believe. They have a exhibit plus IMAX combo that is 30 something dollars which gives you access to their IMAX videos which the clerk explained was 45 minute educational videos. I saw showing for Captain Marvel as well but Im not sure if that would he included. The exhibits were interesting and were mostly hands on. There are two levels: the top level had little to no hands on activities but had presentations about the human body, robotics, and things about how technology is shaping certain parts of the world. The bottom level had all the activities if you wanted to build your own robot to things such as learning about internet security. The exhibit was fun in the sense that it gives kids or even adults a good introduction into certain parts of technology and even the human body. Overall this is a family-friendly, educational museum with a great amount of hands on activities for all ages.
