Wow, what an adventure! We started our climb on June 28 from Stepantsminda with our super cool mountain guides Beka and Gua. We left the iconic scenery of Gergeti Trinity Church and Caucasus mountains behind and headed straightforward to the basecamp of the Meteo station. The hike was amazing as we slowly climbed to the 3650 m altitude. Green steep hills with snowy peaks of mountains around were just beautiful. At the Meteo station we got accommodated and waited for the summit attack. During the whole time Beka and Gua always helped us a lot. Everything was perfectly planned. We trained for the summit push by hiking to the Bethlehem Church which stands at 4000 m altutide and the guides also tought us some basics of glacier walking. On July 1 we started our summit attack and after several strenuous hours we finally stood on the top of famous Mt. Kazbek. The climb was great thanks to our guides who were always taking a good care. We were lucky enough to have great weather and we felt like on the top of the world. Thanks to Mountain Freaks for the amazing experience and we will look forward to booking next climbs with them when we are back in Georgia discovering its beauty again.

I think this is the no. 1 place to go if you want to visit places near Stepantsminda. They are very friendly and helpful. They are also very accommodative with customising tours or transfers. They are complete professionals and well organised. They have a proper office in the heart of the town and all of their information is on their website and social media. And best of all, they speak English so expectations are set clearly. We went on 2 tours with them and had a great time!
This is the genuine proper tourism spot in Kazbegi.If you need o gear up before the hike with the latest details, like gas, hiking poles, maps and so on, this is the best please. As well they have guided tours and transport for the other villages around the area. Still, the reason why I love it is the staff. Nina and Agha are sweet pro active persons and they helped me with ALL the info I need to do my independent hikes. It seems like people in Tbilisi are not so aware of stuff here and they will always recommend guide but here I had a blast with what I needed. They speak perfect English btw.🤟🏽

We joined an expedition to mount Kazbek recently and had the experience of a lifetime. In the months leading up to the trip Aga fielded dozens of questions and during our stay she continued to oversee every aspect. Our expedition leader Ewa was clear and extremely knowledgeable in the mountains. Our guide Lexo was literally a life-saver. All the staff were helpful and patient. Highly recommended. N.B. if you need to rent gear do so early as there is limited availability.

Excellent guide service for Lazbek! Horses available to pack gear to Meteo Station if you want. The team was very communicative and helpful with organizing our ascent of Mt.Kazbek; special thanks to Gio, Agnieszka, and Ewa. One thing to note, if you plan to go to Meteo Station in one day I would recommend trying to leave earlier than they suggest - we met at 900 and didn’t start hiking until 1030, we were able to get to the station by 1600 but if it takes you the quoted full 8hrs to hike there then you may arrive late evening which is less ideal especially with poor weather.
The ultimate agency, for real mountain-lovers!!I just had the pleasure to take part in the Armenia hiking trip to the three peaks of this country: Khustup, Azhdahak and Aragac, interwoven with sight-seeing of Armenias capital city Yerevan and visiting important places for the history and religion of the country. This, along with excellent and hospitable stay (Tatev hotel in the very center of Yerevan) and opportunities to taste the local cuisine in superb places, made the whole experience a complete package. The group of 12 people was led by an experienced city/mountain guide with academic background in archelogy, sharing knowledge in an interesting way. We have chosen indvidual expedition to Mt. Kazbegi with Elbrus. We had local guides for both climbs. Guides speak English plus we got English speaking leader when we went to Russia. Did not have any problems with communication. They have office in Georgia/Kazbegi where we rented equipment and which is very helpful they offer deposit to leave stuff you do not need in the mountains. In the office will also bought some freezed dried food and gas. They answer very quickly and they are really engaged in solving your issues.

I took an equipment from them. All was good and helpful. Equipment wasnt new but it is normal, this is rental office but it wasnt destroyed or dirty. We took rope, crampons, warm sleeping bags and ice axes. Nice office near to center. They all speak English. I can recommend it.

Beware! This company doesn‘t care about their customers at all. We waited an hour for the pickup in the middle of nowhere and nobody came, they had already left without us. Even after contacting them via messenger they didn’t come. We had to hitchhike to get back and were really lucky. A disgrace as a tour company! Never had a worse experience and inside the office they were really arrogant.

Mountain Freaks organized us an amazing ski touring trip in the Kazbegi/Gudauri area. The agency staff was very friendly, reliable and always willing to help and to share with us the Georgian culture. Our mountain guide was also very friendly and professional, always trying his best to be find the best ski touring/freeride skiing spot every day. I rented mountain equipment here. New equipment, good prices, discount for longer rental, helpful staff, friendly office. Additionally I could leave my deposit for the duration of the mountain action in their office for free. A big plus for that! Their office is not in the center of Stepancminda, you have to go the main road towards Tbilisi (about 50 m, on the left), but its really worth getting there.
It is great place on Stepantsminda tourist map. We used the transport to Truso and we got informations how to get to Gergeti Trinity Church. We rented trekking poles and we bought souvenirs there! Full service in one place. :)

I was there this week and I was shocked! Interior of this office is modern and European! Company offers rental mountain equipment. I use it to reach Mount Kazbek and I did it! Staff is really professional, they are usually busy but they find time for everybody to advice and recommend the best thing to do. Girls in the office are really nice! Drivers drive safe and speak English, Russian and even Polish! Great service, great staff, great products, best quality staff as The North Face, Black Diamond, Zamberlan... You cant find better place than this in this part of Georgia.

We went with mountain freaks 1 day to juta and 1 day to turuso valley.each trip costs 30 lari roundtrip, which is much cheaper than taking a taxi.the few downsides were that there are only 6 places in the van so you have to get there a day or two before to reserve your spot (we were off season and they were almost fully booked a day in advanced).also, since you have only 6 hours between getting dropped off and picked up, unless youre super in shape you dont have enough time to get to the pass on the juta trek which was a bummer.also, although we booked 2 trips with them, one of the days we wanted to leave our bag in their office (while we were on their trip) and they charged us for it (kind of a bummer but oh well).anyways, its definitely the best option in order to get to the popular treks in the area :)

Great service. For 100 GEL, we hired a 4x4 van that took us two-ways to the start of the Truso Valley. The only thing that was more so-so was the fact that the agency wanted to charge us 10 GEL per bag to leave our luggage there during the day.

Really confused why this place is rated so high. The employees in the office are very rude and dont seem to care to really help. Their shuttle service only caters to day hikers so dont expect a return trip if you are doing overnight hikes from Truso or Juta. Also, they are way overpriced for their summit group trips up Mt Kazbek (300 euro higher than we paid) which are groups of nearly 20 people. Their gear is also limited and 2x the price as Mountain Travel Agency (MTA) in the center of town. Do yourself a favor and dont bother with this place and go to MTA or hire taxis. MTA also has shuttles for 25 lari return and actually care about people walking in their shop (albeit more rustic and less professional looking) but after 3 times speaking to Mountain Freaks regarding different things they just seem straight up horrible.
Very disappointed with this agency. Although we had agreed on a free transportation to Kazbegi church if we make a photo with their flag on the summit, they informed us in the last moment as we went there that they cannot offer us ANY transportation. Even if we pay for it. And we had to be on our way to the peak on the next day. On top of that the gas bottle price was increased although we have booked a small amount of gas bottles weeks before.Bad attitude and unprofessional service!
Perfectly run agency! During my three day stay in Kazbegi Ive tried trips to Juta, Truso and Dariali Gorge. All of them were great, drivers were on time and even the weather was fine. Next time Im there I will surely try to climb Mount Kazbek with them.

Incredibly rude woman at the desk. We came to ask advice about hikes to do in the region. We were open to many options, but the woman ‘helping’ us didn’t find us worthy of her time for whatever reason. We left after two minutes since it was clear that we were bothering her.

These guys were incredibly helpful in all those little things that a mountaineer needs taken care of. They opened early (earlier than advertised), are super responsive on whatsapp, and just generally think along with you.A few things that we found very helpful:- They sell the Geoland 1:50.000 maps (the best quality you can get in Georgia) for the regions of Kazbegi and the surroundings like Chaukhi- They had a little topo booklet, that helped us sort out our climbs- They sell those little gas canisters for your Jetboil- They rent out gear like Jetboils and other such stuff... which was great when our Jetboil broke down!!- Arranged transport to Juta and back. When I was in Mountain Freaks I was surprised. Nice office, modern mountain equipment, people, who work there have passion to mountains. They can plan your trip. I was in Truso Valley with Mountain Freaks and It was amazing! Beautiful views, I felt like in fairytale. Really nice place and very good organised transport, office and people. If I back to Kazbegi, for sure I will visit Mountain Freaks and their zig-zag building.
Rented equipment from these recently fortunately I was not on a full Kazbek ascent with the equipment. The jet boil had not ignition so that was a waste, but something I should of checked.Crampons were fine, backpack I rented was towards the end of its lifespan.Fortunately the weather was calm on my visit to Kazbek base camp, I doubt the capabilities of the tent I was given in wind and rain.The sleeping bag was useless, I got maybe one hours sleep due to it offering no thermal protection.I think maybe this equipment is okay for trips below 2500m but nothing beyond.When I raised my concern about the sleeping bag the response given was some people adapt differently.Ive slept in far colder places with a good quality sleeping bag and it has been fine, I also met another group who had the same complaints about the sleeping bags they had rented.

The best mountain agency in Kazbegi! You can find there everything what you need to climb Mountain Kazbek and Elbrus, they also organize expeditions on this mountains. The have a lot of good quality equipment! You can buy gas there and rent even trekking shoes and mountain boots. Workers speak fluent English and Russian and Georgian. They organise also daily trips to Truso, Juta and Dariali Gorge cheaper then in a center! Definitely worth your visit! 😊
DO NOT USE THIS TOUR AGENCY.HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. RAISES PRICE AT LAST MINUTE. AWFUL COMMUNICATION. VERY UNETHICAL.I have never felt more disrespected by a company in my entire life. Long story short, we made a reservation, arrived early for the tour, followed instructions given by the company and were completely disrespected and they demanded that we pay double the price to use our reservation.We found this tour company because they had their phone number and logo wrriten on the door of a small office in the center. We wrote to them and confirmed a tour to Juta for 30 lari per person to leave the next day. When we arrived at the office the next day at 9:45 (they asked us to arrive at 9:50), the office was closed and they did not answer our many many whatsapp messages and phone calls. At 10:10 someone answered and told us to go to the other office, which we were not told existed. When we arrived there, the two women that attended us, Olga and Aga, told us that the tour had left so we had to pay 100 lari for a private bus.Despite the fact that we had all of the confirmations and they had not answered our MANY calls that morning, the two women did not honor our reservation. The woman Aga was extremely rude to us, raising her voice, using completely inappropriate communication for customer service. This woman should never work with people, she completely lacks interpersonal abilities and appeared to be furious at US, even though the fault was on the side of the company. The other worker, Olga, was not rude, but she also refused to honor our reservation.They told us they were not responsible for the reservation we made with their company via Whatsapp, because that employee is in another country. Why would they not honor the reservation made by another employee?? Even if he is in another country?? If an employee makes a mistake, the company needs to take responsibility for it, not the client.We asked many times to speak to the manager, they said that was impossible. Again, I have never felt so much disrespect and outright rudeness as I felt from the agency and specifically Aga.
We came to the travel agency 20 minutes before it closed. The personell seemed not to be interested to help us at all which created a kind of arrogant impression for us. At least we were allowed to use the wifi to find a guesthouse for the night
Felt like an intruder, the employee did not pay any attention to me. Went to the agency within its working hours, sat at a table, but the employee did not come to the table to talk - she was busy unpacking some boxes. Apparently, if you are not climbing Kazbegi mountain, you are far less important customer than those who do.
Good for some basic tours around kazbegi. only did a short 2hrs tour (mini bus from kazbegi to tsdo and the Gveleti waterfalls)

Totally awesome agency - everything is great. You get not only guidance, but a lot of learning how to handle high mountains. Plus a great atmosphere.Professionalism is evidenced by the fact that over 80% of participants reach the summit, while less than 55% without an agency.Aga can also eat khinkali fast, although she needs to learn a little more about it.
For me, safety is important in the mountains. When entering Kazbek, accompanied by a good guide and mountain rescuer, a person feels safer.
