So delicious! I had a fantastic time, the food was delicious! My favorite was the chilled corn soup with pesto and incredible pickled corn. Amazing! And a dessert of passion fruit sorbet, strawberries, basil and sparkling wine. The photos do not adequately show how beautiful and tasty everything was.

I had found Settler on Yelp and I really wanted to eat here during our one day in Salem. After walking all day, Settler was out last stop on our day in the Witch City. I never anticipated to have my best culinary experience in Salem, but here I am telling the tale. Settler has a 3 course meal style of serving. We received the chef picked appetizers. I don’t have the exact names, but it was a ricotta style dip, a pumpkin hummus, and another dish that was like a falafel. It was all phenomenal. We also decided to get a cocktail called a Yusuf Highball. It was refreshing, light and exactly what we needed after a long day of ghost stories, witch trial history and people watching.Once we had our order taken, we had settled on a few different dishes. As a starter, I chose the shrimp and it was so insanely good. I could have easily kept eating that. My husband ordered the pate and he cleared his plate. I had the Spaghetti with clams. I really should have taken a picture of the menu to have the real dish names. This was the best pasta I have ever had. It was a white sauce base. It was fresh, decadent and yet light at the same time. My husband had the beef two ways. Both him and our friend raved about it. I had a piece and it was melt in your mouth delicious. My friend’s husband has the chicken and they both said it was delicious.Although we felt stuffed to the brim, we had to have dessert. We all shared the cheesecake and the chocolate tart. Both rich yet light.Aside from the incredible food, the people there were amazingly kind. We were able to be feet away watching the chef work with his team. This was something that truly stuck with me. We even wanted to know where they had gotten their cocktails stirrers from, and the chef showed us the link.This place was a true culinary experience. It was delicious, beautifully kept, and had wonderful people.The bartender also gave us wonderful recommendations for Maine.I do plan to come back to the Witch City and Settler is at the top of my list to revisit.

Went with the Settler Experience and wine pairing, everything was exceptional. From baba ganoush to the basket of warm madeleines, all the food was delicious and expertly paired with some amazing wines.

Wow! All I can say is, if you are a foodie, and are in a position to dine in Salem, MA, go to Settler.We ate there for the initial time last evening. The one word description of our meal from start to finish is, “sublime”.The service was friendly, knowledgeable and service oriented. The food pairings worked so well together. The overall flavors were so well balanced. They neither underwhelmed or overwhelmed the main dishes, or for that matter the side dishes. That is not easy to perfect. Clearly the owners/chefs have a love of cooking and making great food.We will return, sooner rather than later. We cannot recommend Settler Restaurant enough. It’s on the small side so reservations are important. We were fortunate however as we only reserved 4 hours in advance for a 5 pm time.

Wow, my friend and I did the tasting menu with wine pairing and it was incredible! Probably in my top 2 best meals I’ve ever had. Coming back to Salem ASAP just to come here. Highly recommend. Our waitress was amazing as well.

Everything we ordered looked beautiful and tasted fresh and delicious. The intimate dining room feels warm and inviting, the minimalist menu has just the right number of dishes, and the service was friendly and helpful. The cocktails were excellent, and we had a great wine recommendation from our server to enjoy with our entrees. There is plenty of parking nearby, and this restaurant is within walking distance to some great sights in the downtown Salem area. Thank you to the chef and team, keep up the great work!

Best restaurant in Salem — take it from a local whos tried almost every restaurant in downtown Salem. The menu and food are A+ (everything is made in-house, and most ingredients are sourced fresh & locally), great wine selection, creative cocktails, A+ atmosphere, reasonable prices, and everyone who works there is friendly and helpful. Chef Aaron & Team knocked it out of the park with this one. Bravo everyone!

Great food and a level of cuisine that is definitely missing in the Salem area. Only four stars because of how physically uncomfortable the experience was, and not just because we’re in the midst of a global pandemic. I understand that the space is very small, but customers were absolutely packed into the restaurant; the tables were uncomfortably close and it was difficult to get in & out. The music was way too loud which resulted in the tables on either side of us having to shout to communicate with each other. It was very loud and very hot.

We’ve lived in Salem for 3 years and dine out almost every Saturday. We just left Settler saying “That was the best meal we’ve ever had in Salem.” Dre was our waiter and his service was outstanding. The food was amazing. Thank you Settler for the great evening out!

Perfection in a meal last night at Settler! From wine to dessert we loved every bit of it and will definitely be back. Our server (Cassandra I believe) was amazing, friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the food and wine she was serving, she clearly had a passion for her job and what they serve!We had whipped ricotta with honey for an appetizer, perfect balance of sweet and salty. For my entree I had a house made trompetti pasta with delicata squash and pumpkin, and my friend had a spicy pork sugo with broccoli rabe. Some of the best pasta I’ve honestly had all year.Our socially distant meal is a must try and I highly recommend trying all that the Settler has to offer!Thank you again!

Loved it here! Theyve done so much with a small space. We had a couple shareable plates as well as entrees and everything was excellent. Too stuffed for dessert but definitely going back for that & wine very soon!

Very enjoyable evening at the new Settler restaurant in Salem (formerly Firenze). They have renovated with a bar across one wall and an inviting dining area with an open kitchen. The renovay was well considered and the food tastes even better! Some new takes (and flavors) with classic preparations. The have a beer, wine and cordials license only, but the selection was nicely thought out. The dinner was delicious and the service was great without being annoying.We had the crispy olives and split a beet salad to start. Deep fried olives were awesome with the spicy garlic dipping sauce and the salad was also good, and the right size to share.We ordered the scallops and beef specials for dinner. My wife enjoyed the scallops so much she forget to offer me one! But I didnt care because the hanger steak was perfection!I suggest reservations as the place is rather small and popularity is growing.

Easily one of the best meals and service experiences I have received in years. Absolutely blown away and will recommend to anyone and everyone. Hayley was our incredible server and was knowledgeable and gave us some amazing wine suggestions that we all loved. Chaz..... I mean Chuck came out and continued to keep us laughing throughout the night. Amazing. You will be seeing me far more frequently.

Hey now! Delectable meal in all aspects. Introduced to new local varieties of shellfish-mussels aiya!-scallops prepared perfectly with charred top and silky firm sea love inside. My wifes gnocchi was delicious too and wine pairings suggested by waiter were spot on. Finished things off by sharing choc tort on pistachio gelato with a wizard cherry on top...wow!

My wife and I came here for her birthday over Valentine’s Day weekend. This was our first experience dining out during covid, and we were so pleased. The 4-course menu was impeccable, the wine selection was unique, and we really appreciated the partition between tables. Service was top notch. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! Will certainly be back :)

Small and intimate. Staff were all friendly and genuine. Food was expertly crafted and executed. One of the top restaurants Salem has to offer. Fair portions for the money spent, but not unappetizingly large. Everything on the plate has a purpose. Many homemade, complimentary touches to highlight the experience. Support this quality establishment so we can keep it around.

We went to Settler in Salem last night with another couple and we were all blown away. The food the service and the atmosphere were all first class. It was a true dining experience that encompassed so many positives. The savory taste of the food served by an exceptional staff with the cleanest kitchen that I have ever seen were all part of what made for a wonderful evening. We will be back back very soon.

Settler is a truly amazing restaurant.I had the Settler Experience which is a tasting menu designed by the chef. It is incredible. I got the opportunity to try a little of each shared item — the crispy herb falafel, the whipped ricotta, the tzatziki, and the baba ghanouj. That plus the incredible bread made with 50 year old starter…I meann ogh. What a way to start a dinner.Then I had the pate — something I would have never ordered on my own. To my surprise it was delicious! I scarfed down the whole thing. From meat to bread to salad to mustard it was all good.Next up was a seafood pasta with fresh caught lobster and squid; another item that would not be on my list of regular orders..it was savory, and spicy, and luscious. Absolutely loved it.At that point I truly thought that last course was my main dish, but I was wrong! Next up was an AMAZING fish dish. One of the best fish dishes I’ve had in New England hands down.Finally I had homemade madelines and some sort of cake/cheesecake/quiche situation. And that was incredible too. Not to mention the great selection of beer and wine and the awesome cocktails made by Eric!The whole staff was extremely welcoming and friendly. The meal was spaced out perfectly giving me just enough time to break between meals. It was EXTREMELY well priced (they should definitely charge more), and I was absolutely stuffed! The interior design is also really well put together. I will certainly be back time and time again.

Ordered curbside pickup... when I arrive and called no one answered the phone. Looked a little busy on the street. And I think they just forgot about curbside. Anyway spoke to one of the waiters outside and he took care of it. 15 minutes later. Only comment answer your phone. We helped you out when curbside pickup was all you had... Good luck

Ordered takeout from Settler and was blown away by the food! Everything tasted incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. I will be forever dreaming of the heirloom tomato salad. If you’re in Salem, would highly recommend this unique spot!

This place is excellent. By far, one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Salem.

After looking at the website and wanting to try this restaurant for weeks my husband and I finally went for our anniversary this past weekend and I was not disappointed in the least. We made a reservation and were greeted before we had even opened the door and seated right away. Everyone who worked at the restaurant was so bright and friendly and the food was incredible. We got the whipped ricotta to share and now I dont know how we can ever go again and NOT get it. My chicken was perfectly cooked and the skin on it was delicious. We were seated outside but the inside of the restaurant had a great atmosphere. We will definitely be going back and I highly recommend it.

Awesome birthday dinner.

Ive heard so many good thing about this place and finally tried it tonight. Worth the hour drive from the South Shore. We ordered everything on the To Share, Buttered Wild Shrimp, Chicken entree, Scallop Entree, and Cacio E Pepe. Everything was well crafted and delicious. We finished our meal with the Madeleines and Some rich Chocolate dessert. The service was fantastic, very attentive staff. Will definitely come back again and highly recommended.

Had an absolutely phenomenal meal at Settler last night. The Salem dining scene just got kicked up about 5 notches. Each dish was expertly seasoned with exciting yet balanced flavors. The Butter Basted Shrimp dish was probably the best shrimp dish I’ve ever had. If you are looking for a fine meal with great service in an intimate space, go to Settler!

One of the best dinners (and cookies?!) I’ve ever had in Salem. (Note: We got our whole order as takeout) First we got the whipped ricotta and grilled sourdough which was delicious and was packaged nicely and didn’t get messy in the bag or anything. It tastes very fresh and just enough sweetness with honey without being overpowering. I had the pesto Trompetti which was perfect in every way, I didn’t expect it to have a bit of a kick to it (I think it had red pepper flakes or something) but it was delicious. My friend had the Cacio e Pepe. I thought it tasted very good even though it wasn’t something I thought I would like. Then finally we had the take home cookie dough. These were amazing! The cookies had nice edges but rose up and were fluffy and soft like a chocolate chip muffin. They were the best cookies I have ever had from a restaurant. Definitely coming back.

AMAZING!! Drove an hour on a whim and happened to end up at the most incredible restaurant!! Order the mussels, the chicken, and the madeleines for dessert (we were unsure too but they’re to die for). The best mussels we’ve ever had. Could not recommend this place more.

Food and Wine list is exceptional. Sourdough bread is a highlight here, dont miss it! Outside patio area is clean and tables are spaced out.

General manager lacks bedside manners. Charging an extra 6% for Covid is a turnoff. Kicking a customer out the restaurant because they question the extra fees is unprofessional.

The restaurant has the charm of a (beautifully designed) local neighborhood restaurant with food that Michelin would regard favorably. It has few seats and a small kitchen, yet what comes out of that kitchen is nuanced, balanced, delicious, and artfully presented. I started with the mussels in a leek, chablis, creme fraiche broth...among the best Ive ever had. For the main course, I had the chicken, which was so beautifully crafted...an appearingly simple meal but layered with flavor and complexity. My husband and our friend equally loved their meals. All served by a team that made us feel welcomed and special.

Had a great meal here and LOVE what theyve done with the space. Cant wait to go back.

My wife and I decided to treat ourselves to a high-end take out option - and man we were not disappointed! We ordered the ricotta appetizer, which we immediately started fighting over. So good! She got the six hour bolognese, which was rich and flavorful. I ordered the hanger steak atop greens and crushed potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. We finished with the basket of madeleines which offered the perfect texture and sweetness to end our meal. So next time you decide to do take out and are sick and tired of the usual boring options reconsider and treat yourself to Settler!

We ordered the takeout during the virus lockdown for our wedding anniversary. It was amazing. The burger - amazing. The pasta dishes were from good to great. The baba-ghanoush was the best Ive had.
