The College started as Rourkela Science College from 16 th August, 1961 and was taken over by Government Odisha on 01-07-1963. With the vertical academic growth of the College was conferred with autonomous status in 2002. In the year 2002 the College was accredidated by NACC with Grade-B. The College offers variety of Courses i.e. Degree level course in Arts, Science and Commerce. The College also offers M.Phil in three subjects(Botany, English, Odia), M.A. in two subjects (English, Odia), M.Sc. in two subjects (Botany, Comp. Science). The College also offers a variety of self-financing Degree Courses in Computer Science, Electronics and Tele-Communication(ETC), Mathematics with Computer(MTC), PGDCA, PGDCH. The College also offers Diploma in Retail Management under Community College and various Degree and P. G. level Courses under Odisha State Open University. The College has been also provided separate Rooms for IGNOU Study Centre.I was a student under Professor Arun kumar patra (Self-finance) and Professor Jitendra Prusty( self-finance). I studied here from 2016-2019. This college have developed many structure for their students to provide better experience in studies. It also has hostels and staff quaters. This college is situated near panposh market which is better for hosteler. Nearby medicine store is also available.

A very good college in this area, also very reputed, it is an autonomous college both +2 and +3 student can came and study here, it is also old college in this area, i have never studied here but i personally know a lot of successful person who have passed out from this college. The surrounding is also very good. Staff are also really good and friendly. Every college have some bad and some good students , this college have most of the good and bright student but a few bad students, the college authority do their best not to remove the bad students but to remove the badness from a student. Overall a great college, this coll4 can be viewed from a normal trafic if you are going from panposh to STI.
