Vedavyas, is a secret place, for the Confluence of three rivers, named Sankh, Koyal and Saraswati, forming one of the most sacred river named Brahmani. The existence of Brahmani, is found in our old sacred scriptures, Puranas. The great sage Vedvyasji, has also spent, some of his life time here, and thus, it is named Ved Vyas. It is located about 15 km from the Steel City Rourkela, in the Indian state of Odisha. Here, a 24 hours continuous live kirtan is taking place since 27/04/1990. Apart these, there is a Vaidic Ashram, shamshan Ghat and Gaushala. An ancient Shiva temple with banyan tree, which, according to Shastras, is in Sunya. There is a small hillock on which exists the dwelling cave of Maharshi Vedvyasji, which was directly connected to the Brahmani river. It is a must visit place in Rourkela.

Vedvyas is one of the most beautiful pilgrim location in Odisha I would say. Basically it is famous for the confluence of three rivers called Shankh, Koel and Saraswati. The meeting scenario is very beautiful and eye-catching. Many people visit this river point and take bath.Vedvyas is named according to the great mythological Hindu Scholar named Rishi Vedvyas, who meditated for years in a cave present there before writing the holy epic Mahabharat. The place still has Vedvyas cave as an evidence. The Shiva temple and 2-3 additional temples are beautifully maintained. There is another Temple dedicated to Goddess maa Saraswati with a 7feet deep well named Saraswati Kunda. It is believed that the well is filled up by Gupta Ganga. The natural scenery of this place is attractive.

Best place to visit in vedvyas. Great temple but the cave is dormant. And the Brahmani river is so amazing. The best thing about this place is the intersection of three rivers(Shank river, koel river and saraswati river). The view of this intersection refreshes my mind. I dont know the tale behind this temple. Although I know that the Maharishi Vyasa dictate and Lord Ganesha wrote the Mahabharata inside the cave. Thank you for your patience. So, if you will visit vedvyas then please visit this place. You will also find this amazing experience.

The place has of immense importance because it is situated in the side of confluence of three rivers Sankha, Koel and underground Saraswati with the creation of Brahmani River. The name Brahmani coined after the great sage and Brahma Vyasa Dev. A cave that existed in the riverbank hill which still exists called as Vyasa cave. It is believed the sage Vyasa Deva was living in the said cave and wrote the great epic Mahabharat. Due to soil erosion the said cave is now inaccessible. It also believed that an underground tunnel was there between the river and cave by which the sage used to worship the god without the knowledge of general public.

If someone is planning for a picnic to the steel city of Rourkela, my recommendation is to start your trip from the Vedvyas Temple. Take a bath in the mesmerizing water of Brahmani River, offer a puja at the temple. The environment is so soothing. And the river view from the temple terrace is just amazing!! . If you dont know swimming, Be cautious while entering into the water.Take a break from your busy life and visit sometime during the winter and you will love this place. INCREDIBLE ODISHA.
