Been here twice, first one when it was undergoing some restoration so I had to come back 10 years later. This Chapel is full of mystery if you immerse yourself with the history. Photography is not allowed inside. However, they will allow you to take photos inside through the door outside.... so if you have a nice lens... well

A fabulous place to visit, I would certainly recommend seeing it. Full of unusual and intriguing carvings on all the interior walls and pillars. Not all the carvings have yet been explained which adds to the mystery but those which have provide wonderful stories.(Note, no photographs are allowed inside the chapel)There is a really good cafe and gift shop on site too.

Unique and interesting. Easy to get to on the 37 bus from Princes Street, a cafe on site or Dollys tearoom by the bus stop. Shop and toilets on site. The carvings are quite something and all the symbols, messages, hidden meanings etc are both interesting and fun. If you walk around the back of the chapel and down the path you will find the remains of Rosslyn Castle.

This place is quite spectacular, especially if your a davinci code fan.You can actually walk down into the crypt. 😱

Beautiful Chapel with a rich history dating back to the 1400s! The architecture is a blend of numerous time periods. This chapel was used in the filming of The DaVinci Code. Absolutely fascinating!

Absolutely stunning evening visit to Rosslyn Chapel. Such a beautiful, ornate interior with lots of interesting things to discover. The guide was interesting and knowledgeable, and, although the Chapel does not have the chequered history of some religious buildings, I can definitely recommend a visit.

I visited this chapel in October of 2019. It is lovely, with unexpected charms at every turn. At that time, I was allowed to wander as I wished. The lecture started while I was viewing the crypt;and was disappointed to miss it. The visitors were not so numerous that the chapel was overfilled, so i guess i visited at the optimal time. I cant decide which detail charmed me most, perhaps the tale of the mason master and his apprentice. But also I was impressed by the archtectural drawings in the crypt. I still wonder what the padlocked door just outside the chapel was intended for? A hermit? The third picture is from the quaint great cafe on the first intersection outside the chapel area. I hope it is still open. The best use of the Chapel in fiction, to my mind is the Discovery of Witches.

If you only have time to visit one place in Scotland make it to Rosslyn Chapel. A wonderful 15th Century church, steeped in history, mystery and exquisite architecture. Make sure to book.

A fantastic and amazing place to spent a few hours. Tickets are very reasonable priced and when I was there they had two very knowledgeable people inside the Chapel to answer all the questions we had. Very friendly and forthcoming. The coffee shop is small but there were some excellent staff and great food to.

Very clean, covid regulation in place. Very informative and pleasant staff. Clean free toilet and nice coffee shop on the site. Highly recommended.

Very interesting place to visit the stories regarding its construction were amazing the intricate masonry work is fascinating and connecting to the Knights Templar is just the icing on the cake. There is a small cafe and visitors centre where you can get some delicious cakes and coffee. This place should be on your bucket list if in the area

It is unique Chapel. We were there very early and it wasnt open, but definitely will visit again.

What a fantastic place to visit! The whole site is beautifully kept. The conservation and preservation is outstanding, due to the high number of visitors following the successful Davinci Code book & film. Our guide Margaret gave a fascinating talk which brought the Chapel to life. Strongly recommended

I have visited the place twice. The first time was in the nineties and the second time in 2015. Both times I have enjoyed the place very much. Perhaps the first time, I found it less crowded and quieter, more spiritual.Now I am trying to buy something online from the shop but I havent got the option to send the purchase to a different address. I am just given the option of fill in biiling details which are not the same as the place and name of the person who I want to be sent the purchase. Can someone help me?

Great visit to this beautiful building.

Not the prettiest church inside, but some great stone carvings and good stories behind the stonework. I especially liked the 7 virtues, 7 deadly sins and the apprentice pillar. Picturesque from outside and got some nice photos, but no photography inside allowed.

A beautiful amazing place. You do have to book online to tour the chapel. 90 minute time slots.

I really struggled with how to rate this experience. It was very, VERY touristy, lots of people, lots of tour buses. The chapel itself is beautiful, but I prefer a more relaxed experience and this was not that. It’s timed tours and you are told where to go, you file into the chapel and must take a seat and must listen to their presentation. You are not allowed to take any pictures inside. Not just no flash, no pictures at all. It was so crowded I ended up walking out. This experience may be fine for others, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. Inside the little museum there are some interesting interactive displays, a small gift shop, and a pricey cafe. There is a nice outdoor patio with tables with gorgeous views for nice weather days. Again, very very crowded. Spent most of my time walking around the outside of the chapel, and took a little walk down away from the chapel and found a lovely path and the ruins of Rosslyn Castle. To me, that was the gem of the day; the beautiful walk and hiking trails and the ruins.

Clearly five stars. The chapel is a lovely treasure chest of vast Scottish history, art, and culture. The carved sand stones of the chapel breath history. It is an active place of worship today. It is also a place of tourism and movie and literature history. You will find your own world in this wee world.Parking is free. We booked a ticket online. Children go free. There is also a castle ruin down a steep hill rather close by. There is hardly nothing left of the walls. The old stone bridge spans over a very deep chasm. Nothing for the faint hearted. The view into the valley is nice.

As well as the chapel( which you pay for ) there a lovely walk down to river to spread legs and a pub for a bar meal not far away, nice visit

Excellent experience. The chapel is beautiful , full of history and located within such a beautiful place. Has a shop and coffee shop too. Maureen who was the guide within the chapel is amazing and so full of knowledge. Brilliant place to visit and well worth the admission price.

90 mins is not enough! This place is beautiful. So much to see & hear about. I spent so much time amazed everything inside & outside the Chapel, I only had 10 mins to look around the fantastic visitors centre. Never got close to having a coffee. I cant wait for Covid to be over so I can visit at a more leisurely pace.

Amazing historical place

Second visit, magnificent place, nice to meet William the cat. Public transport from Edinburgh was very easy to use. A nice location if you need to get away form the busy city center for an afternoon.

Really enjoyed our visit to Rosslyn Chapel there is so much information dotted throughout the Chapel....it has amazing history well worth a visit. The staff were great, our visit was during covid 19 and we felt safe with the precautions that were in place even the toilets were cleaned after every use. The little cafe was lovely with the two young guys serving ....they were very polite and professional.We would definitely recommend a visit

An amazing place to visit.The stonework is of the highest quality. There is a lot of intriguing figures to look out for through out the Chapel ( free guide to help you find were they are situated) A brochure priced at £5 is also a very good read.There is also a souvenir shop with a large range to pick from. A cafe is also on site as are toilets. Car and bus parking is o ly 100 yards from entrance.You can also upgrade your pass to a yearly pass for no extra cost.Definitely worth a visit.

Interesting spot with its intricately carved chapel, and the visitor centre and information is well done. Very busy in August though. Children loved William the cat.

A place full of history and art, the price is a bit expensive but it makes sense when you learn it is for keeping the place up and running.

Visited back in October. Pre-booked and timed tickets are required. Rosslyn Chapel is incredible Gothic chapel with elaborate masonry, carvings and decoration that make it comparable to some of the most magnificent Gothic cathedrals in Europe. Unfortunately photos and videos are not permitted in the church, so if it wasnt for the guided tour, Id feel short-changed.

Amazing place steeped in history. A truly magnificent building, which could not be replicated today with the costs incurred. Even met the Chapel cat William!!!

Magical place, an unique experience to see how a friend of the Knight’s Templar built the crypt and then the chapel on top of it.The original owner was William Sinclair, 1st Earl of Caithness, who used special group of skilled masons to build all of it, and create all details in the statues and carvings. It is breathtaking, really.The original building should have been even bigger, to guarantee Earl’s place in heaven.This is a must see, and will leave you thinking about all the small details and meanings of the chapel.

The Rosslyn Chapel is stunning and fascinating. Safety measures have been put in place, so pre-booking is a must. There are still talks and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

The Chapel has a rich history, but dont let that be the only reason you visit, the architecture is amazing, the carvings etc inside are a sight to behold. There is no photography allowed inside the Chapel, so I cant give you a look. But to be fair, I wouldnt want to, it wouldnt do it justice!

Beautiful stonework and adorable cat - always worth visiting

The chapel has amazing history and stone carving. Visited on a Thursday afternoon which was quiet and had enough time to admire the interior. Staff was very helpful too. The castle ruin 10 minutes away was also well worth the visit.

Biker-friendly parking space and safe too. Left my bike there coz i forgot my lock. After more than an hour, it was stilk there.Receptionist was so friendly. They let me in despite not being able to book ahead.Upon entry, youll feel the magical view and youll be amazed by the intricate architectural designs. So love this place 😍

Gutted. No tickets left as online bookings only. As an oak island fan was looking forward to seeing inside. Very nice of the staff to allow us to have coffee and look in the shop. THANKS. If the view from the back is anything to go by. I will be back

Amazing building so much to see. A feast for the eyes. Lovely cafe too selling freshly prepared food. Watch out for William the cat hes just so cute. Just a shame no photography allowed inside the Chapel.

Lovely little Chapel, café and gift shop. Known more recently for appearing in the Da Vinci Code film, it has lots of intricate carvings, stories and hundreds of years of history.Accessible by all, except in the Sacristy, which is down some steps.Best to book a time slot at the moment, to ensure entry, which was easy to do.Overall a lovely visit 😊

Absolutely impressive and enchanting, no matter what ones belief or background. The masonry is incredible. The stories they tell and music they contain is exquisite. The docent talk is a must. The surrounding views are beautiful as well. Bonus points for a head-bump from William, the Chapel Cat.Small cafe does not have vegan options - be prepared with your own snacks.If you bus from Edinburgh, keep an eye on the schedule, or youll be caught in a small town for over an hour (front desk display shows departures back).

I had a nice visit on a beautiful day.Took the bus from Edinburgh to Roslin. Then had a small walk around the chapel, as I arrived a bit early for my timeslot. I simply booked the visit online. The social distancing measures are well organised, the staff is professional and helpful.The chapel is beautiful and the architecture is detailed. The guide inside the chapel explained the symbols and their history. I learned a lot.It was a great day trip from Edinburgh. Highly recommended!

The skill of the stonemasons is fantastic especially the apprentice pillar inside. Chapel wasnt as large as I imagined and we were in and out under an hour. Its one place I wanted to tick off having visited and wasnt disappointed.

Far more interesting than I expected. I was expecting endless conspiracy theories, but was presented with an intricately carved and beautiful building with a long history.

Ive been meaning to go to Rosslyn for a long while, even before it became infamous. I finally made it and loved it there. Even with the tourists it was peaceful and idylove to spend a few hours alone there. It must be wonderful.As for prices, its expensive mostly but these things are for restoration purposes although Im torn as churches should be free to enter, but times change. So does necessity.Another downfall is you cant take pictures inside, only outside, but that is sometimes understandable. I saw many photo opportunities though, especially to share on social media.All in all I loved it. Rosslyn Castle would be a great place to visit but sadly its closed to tourists, yet you can stay apparently?Anyway, go and help play a part in its conservation. You wont regret it...

Picked a lousy day weather wise but it meant it was quiet , very informative guide went through some great aspects of the internal building to all that wanted to listen, nice coffee and cake afterwards to top it off. Look out for William the resident cat , looks like a old timer but had a lovely place to hang out.
