Someshwara temple in Oorgaumpet is the oldest temple of the whole Kolar Gold Fields.It was built in the year 1201 A.D by the King Raja Raja Chola, during his ruling time.It is still been maintained very well recently the surroundings has been modified for our convenience.Also there is a Marriage hall named Girija kalyanaMantapa. Frequently during seasons the mantapa will be booked. Also there are many temples around so it is very attractive temple.Maha Chandika Yagam will be organized every year in the month of Jan- Feb.Also Mahaliya amavasya thidhi also been organized here.
