Great place to stay at, just on the banks of Ganga. Lovely views around, especially during Mansoons. Comfortable stay, to be applied online at Ashrams website. They replies immediately as per availability. Annadanam been done in the ashram premises itself, 7.30 breakfast, 12.30 lunch and 7.30 pm dinner sharp along with Tea at different intervels. For all these nothing is charged, except voluntary donations at will. Behind the Ashram there is a Yoga Ghat and the bund made on the River Ganga is a visual treat and can have a good evening walk till the newly constructed Sita (Janaki) Jhula.Lord Siva temple encarved in side the premises is wonderful, very positive wibes in and around. It is a wonderful Ashram located on the bank of the river Ganga.The rooms are well kept and clean, the food at the Ashram is also simple and nice.We have been coming to the Ashram for over 20 years now.I really have never attended any seminars or teaching lessons at the Ashram, but mostly come here for a quiet break.A couple of years ago, a new walkway was built on the bank of the river which connects the Ashram to Ram Jhoola and is a nice walk.They also have a private ghat at the Ashram where we usually take a dip in the Ganges.All in all, it is a wonderful place to visit if you are looking for a peaceful retreat (even if you are not religiously inclined).

Dayananda Ashram Rishikesh is situated on the banks of the Holy Ganga, away from the major tourist attractions. It is a unique centre for the study of Vedanta and Sanskrit; unique in the sense that the classes are conducted in English yet the adherence and reverence to the ancient tradition of teaching (Sampradaya) is total. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Siva as Gangadharesvara facing the Ganga. The main lecture hall also faces the Ganga. There is a library with more than 5000 titles on various subjects, i.e. Vedanta, Sanskrit Grammar, Indian and western philosphies, Religion and Yoga. There is also a Yoga studio where regular Iyengar Yoga camps are conducted.The ashram was established during the 1960s by Swami Dayananda Saraswati, who is an internationally recognised teacher of Vedanta and foremost scholar of Sanskrit. Swamiji and his disciples conduct regular residential courses at the ashram with the focus on Bhagavad Gita and the ten principal Upanishads as commented upon by Adi Shankaracharya. These and selected ancillary texts are analysed and taught along with Sanskrit grammar in the Paninian style. Vedic chanting is also taught during courses.In addition, throughout the year, a resident acharya holds daily discourses on the Upanishads, incorporating analytical examination of Adi Shankaracharyas commentaries.Dayananda Ashram is the parent Vedanta institute of the Arsha Vidya Gurukulam group, established by Swami Dayananda. Known as Arsha Vidya Pitham it means a centre of learning based on the teaching of the ancient rishis.

Amazingly beautiful and peaceful ashram on the bank of Ganga Maa. I went on Jatra (holy pilgrimage) with my family here nearly 10 years ago. We still treasure our time in Rishikesh at the Ashram - clean, peaceful, great amenities. The ashram driver took us to Badrinath Vishal and Kedarnath. It was amazing and a highlight of my life. Very good and homely on the Riverside of Ganges . Very convenient for a dip in Ganges for women and elderly due to proximity and lesser crowd . It is a sort of private ghat. The Ashram provides breakfast , lunch and food on the house. Accommodation here is free and people are expected to donate as per their capabilities generously. The Ashram runs on donations only

This is a beautiful place on the banks of Ganga at Rishikesh. Morning and evening puja at the temple is wonderful. Vedanta teaching in some form continues here. But the food served here is not upto the mark.
