I completed my 240 Hour Teacher Training Course at the Himalayan Yoga Academy in March 2015. It was one of the most enriching and life changing experiences I have undergone. The overall course allowed me to face and overcome some of my greatest fears. The teachers were all wonderful as they each provided a different yet inspiring and authentic approach to the practice of yoga. I made so many amazing friends that I still keep in touch with and learnt so much more about myself during the 6 week course. I left India with a new zest to want to learn everything I could about Yoga and am so grateful for the time I had there.

I was here in March 2016 and Im so happy about my choice. I was actually at another school before I met Stevie from Himalayan YA. He took time to answer all my questions and explained to me in depth about what HYA had to offer. I was looking for traditional yoga with Western teachings. Himalayan gave me just that, the best of both worlds which was really important to me as I was returning to the West to teach. I had enjoyed yoga for many years but I had the knowledge lacking from my practice. I now can say that my eyes are more open to yoga than I ever imagined plus there are many bonuses to this course. Many courses dont give much teaching time but HYA gives an extra 40 hours to concentrate on just that. Classes such as vocal training to lean how to fill the room with a calm but assertive voice which is forgotten about on other courses. I felt confident to lead a class because of this practice. I have met many other students who had completed their YTT who didnt have the confidence to teach months after graduating. I am truly grateful for this. Be warned this course is intensive but you have a good support system around you plus fun trips to help you relax and enjoy it for what it is :)Loved the team and grateful for all that I have taken away with me :)

Ive been there. It was an amazing experience.It is difficult to find a good place to learn yoga. You know its only a month and a half, and it is a lot of knowledge. But this school is a truely good one.A big Russian influence make a really good and organized teaching programm (you dont find this everywhere in India! ^^).Class are very clear (even for those who dont have a very good english ;-)). Planning is intense but the time is nicely use.Teatchers there are passionate and make you love yoga more than when you start ( I didnt thought that was possible :-)) But not only.You cant change a lot in that time (even with a strong mind) but after this course you have a knew comprehension about Yoga, about you, about the life around you...At the end you are really proud of what you did and very happy to have this knew knowledge in your life. It is hard to find the right words.And you will meet people from all parts of the world loving Yoga, India, and travel like you! A lot of good vibes from all people I met there.Have a nice trip :-)!

I attended 240hr TTC in March 2016 and my experience is beyond amazing. Himalayan Yoga Academy has the perfect blend of Russian dedication for prefection, American passion for yoga and Indian knowledge of the subject. The teachers are from different nationalities so you manage to get a little good from everyone. No one could ever expect anything better of a TTC. I was the only Indian and also the least experienced student of all, but the way i have evolved during this course makes me feel happy about myself. The time spent here was honestly the best time of my life.The course is very well tailored and has just the right amout of everything that you will ever need to be able to teach yoga. We had subjects like anatomy, structural alignment,meditation, philosophy, methodology, corrections and adjustments and many more. The teachers are exceptional and knowledgeable.It was always a tiring day but you will always find the strength to go out shopping at night and you will wake up energized every morning( even at 5:30 am😂), may be thats what yoga does to you. But at the end of the course, you will be nostalgic and wanting the experience never to end. I will strongly recommend anyone to go for this course without a doubt.

Strong emphasis on structural alignment, which is whats missing in most yoga classes these days. I will never forget all the verbal cues and adjustments thanks to the millions of times I learned them, haha! The staff are all very knowledgeable and there was a very international vibe. I heard a lot of bad reviews from students of other programs in Rishikesh so I feel very fortunate to have chosen HYA. Plus the price cant be beat! Accommodation is basic and shared, but clean and the food is amazing. Indian flavour, but lighter and healthier. If your looking for a school in India that will give you the ability to teach Hatha or Vinyasa and actually know how to correct and teach people the poses (in Sanskrit and English)4, Id choose this school. Youll bust your ass, youll cry, but youll learn and go on some cool adventures with some great new friends along the journey.

April 2016 (240h YTTC)My experience with Himalayan Yoga Academy definitely changed me.The 12 teachers from different nationalities, ages and backgrounds, following different Yoga perspectives helped me to open my horizon and change my own interpretation of Yoga.All the classes were interesting and covered a lot of subjects, focused in giving you the basic tools to start teaching yoga. You learn about asana alignment, body anatomy, philosophy, pranayama, teaching methodology, meditation, yoganidra, shatkarmas, etc.Classes are intense, start at 6AM and finish at 6/7PM with breaks for meals. Youll probably sweat and feel pain in muscles you didn’t knew you had, gaining strength through the course, flexibility and a better understanding of your body mechanics. You can still manage to get to know the mystical Rishikesh, her temples and shrines, food and clothing tents, see the sunset in a beautiful Ganges beach, drink some awesome fruit juices, meet interesting people from all over the world and get back to the ashram before the gate close at 10PM.Teaching classes to your colleagues is part of the program and was my biggest challenge. Got my tongue-tied a lot of times, mixed words, but after 5 weeks I realize a big evolution and understood better that teaching Yoga is a never-stop-learning life. Made some good friends that I’m sure they will be forever.The Ashram is a typical Indian building with a big dome and an awesome view over Tapovan. The shared rooms had bathroom and having a toilet was a good surprise. The food was good and from different countries, the staff very friendly but sometimes I ate out of the Ashram to eat some eggs, cheese and try different local things.I feel very grateful for having the opportunity to learn in the holy city of Rishikesh bathed by the Ganges in a traditional Yoga Ashram. Great place for deep dive in yoga practice with experienced teachers, finding like-minded friends and learning indian culture. In the end of course you will have knowledge about asana alignment, secrets of pranayama, yoga philosophy and metodology of teaching yoga. Big plus for russian speaking yogis, all classes have translations. I highly recomend this place!

I had a wonderful experience in my 240-hr Yoga Teacher Training at HYA. I knew I wanted to study in India, and this program was recommended to me by my teacher in California and is known for being one of the most organized and holistic training programs in Rishikesh. The teaching staff is extremely qualified, including some of the top teachers in Rishikesh, and diverse, with some Russian, Western, and Indian instructors, which is definitely a benefit to a YTT. There is a strong focus is on structural alignment of the asanas and teaching practice, which was exactly what I was looking for, but also classes on pranayam, mindfulness, and meditation. Overall, my experience in this teacher training brought me closer to my true self, and HYA still holds a dear place in my heart.

I decided to leave a review too. I’m the same Ksenia, she’s frozen a dozen))) I was at intensive, 28 days, I took tickets for five weeks, because I thought to try myself in the teacher’s program. The group was very large, no one warned about such a large set of participants and I didn’t find one whom warned in advance. Repeatedly approached the teachers with this question, it seems like she found the last one and Sergey made a very surprised face, it turns out that we should have been divided into groups of 25 people, but they didn’t divide us until the end of the course. All 28 days there was an English-speaking group of 20 people and a Russian-speaking group, about 60 people. At the forum at the end of the first week, as a solution to the problem with the group re-dialing, they suggested introducing interns; they attended for two days, then simply came to classes for personal practice. Classes in the morning shatkarmas, as well as the structural setting, were held in two groups together, a line of more than seventy people with tea pots for water is not a very pleasant procedure. In order to at least understand something for myself, what and where to move, I had to take private lessons and pay separately. For 28 days, there were only two classes in biomechanics and one lesson in Ayurveda, which covered only two doshas. There was not a single lecture last week, morning classes were given for practice, the entire intensive program consisted of a structural setting in the morning and class asana in the evening, thats all.
