Fantastic dining experience. Tapas aren’t favorite because you get to try a little bit of everything. The crispy spinach was delicious. The paneer (cheese) roll was so good 😋, chili wings, lamb, mint chutney, naan. Indian small plates are the best! Don’t miss out on this experience. Cheers 🍻

Valentine’s Day offering was out of this world! The food was spectacular and the ambiance was breathtaking. Everything was extremely thoughtful from the music selection to the food presentation. Highly recommend for a date night or casual food move!

Went for drag brunch, first visit. It was excellent! The brunch menu was yummy from the pancakes to breakfast bowl to chicken and waffles. The performers were great, I recommend it. I cant wait to go back and sample the Indian food.Roomy, social distancing and masks were present on all staff and performers.

This place was pretty bad ngl. The curry tasted like tomato sauce and it was super overpriced. I ordered the most spicy too, but not even close to remotely spicy. The food is good if you want Italian ig. The naan were those little, tasteless tiny ones you can get from whole foods lmao.No way anyone reviewed this place and said it was authentic.When I walked in, everyone was white so that probably explains the tomato sauce tasting curry.Beware of all these ethnic places owned and staffed by all white people.

Nama is an awesome restaurant! The food is delicious and the ambiance is wonderful. As they were preparing our tables, we enjoyed the swing up front. Once we were sat, we each ordered a cocktail from their curated menu. And then we split several small plates and a curry pot. All of it was wonderful! My only gripe is I wish I got more naan for the price.

NAMA was incredible! To begin, at first glance the ambiance and decor was stunning. The service was top notch from start to finish and the recommendations were great. I highly recommend the entire experience. I think it would be hard to leave on an empty stomach as the food keeps you craving more! So good and flavor forward! I recommend ordering 3-4 share plates with an entree. The Curry Bowls are heavenly. Now, go enjoy.

Fantastic place. We arrived and hadnt made a reservation because we didnt plan ahead for our Anniversary but tried to get one at the last minute but this place was booked. The band was outside chatting before going on and greeted us at the door. We went in and came back out chatting, they urged us to hold on a minute and see what they could do. They told us if we could wait a bit, we could get seated. The drinks and food were amazing. The band was fantastic. I love the vibe and diversity of this place. Definitely recommend.

The service the service is GREAT! A full staff who are ready willing and able to assist at any moment. Please reserve a table for your group. High tables available and lounge seat booths for dining. Drink menu is affordable and the food is definitely good. Parking may be the only issue as it is located on broad st.

Hate to leave a bad review anywhere but I LOVE Indian food. I am still looking for a great place in Richmond. I would hate for this to be someones first and only taste of such a great cuisine. We order three dishes. All dishes were sub par. A home cook, who is comfortable in the kitchen, know how to prep meat, and season well could make better. Naan bread taste like a freezer bought product not made in house.

Back in India, when I was studying in college, on campus food was considered as one of the worst. Chole Bhature in Nama is somehow worse. Bhatures are too thick to digest. Portions are quite small compared to the price, but wouldn’t have complained if the taste was better.On top of all this, the waiter forgot our main course order, we waited for about half hour and then she comes and asks if we want the check 🤷🏽‍♂️

Nama is an experience - not just another meal. Weve been here a couple times (pre Rona) and also purchased carryout food from Nama (during the pandemic). Even eating their delicious curry pots or small plates from home has been an experience rather than a meal. The food is probably the best Indian food in the area, but some of the more traditional Indian plates are supplemented by delicious Indian-inspired recipes. Did I mention the food here is delicious??As far as staff goes, theyre incredibly friendly and terribly helpful. Just the nicest people in the world.This place is just awesome. Will be back soon. Hopefully next time well be able to eat in their dining room rather than at home with carryout!!

This place was really nice. There’s a good variety of tasty options for vegetarians and vegans, along with meat and seafood. The food was really good and our server was very attentive. Overall, nice atmosphere and really good food. We didn’t try any drinks, but the cocktail menu seemed really interesting as well. I will definitely go back.

I went to NAMA for the first time with a friend over the weekend. We had a great experience. Delicious small plates, nice and spicy! They have a great cocktail menu; I’d love to see some mocktails too. Wonderful service. Only other recommendation is to carry herbal teas and decaf coffee for the end of the meal. I’ll definitely be going again.

Found this gem via OpenTable and something about it just spoke to me. Im glad that I listened! Beautifully decorated, the ambience is perfect, customer service is beyond fantastic and I didnt even take pictures of the food because it was in my belly as soon as it hit the table. Made for a wonderful date night. Thank you to Amy for all your recommendations on the menu, your mocktails and for taking pics for my wife and I. Thank you to the bartender for your mocktail as well and for coming and chatting with my wife and I for a bit. We will definitely return for brunch and other meals.

Wow! I enjoyed Nama so much. My Fiancé and I went to celebrate & the atmosphere and food were so great! So good we to again for back to back dinner the next evening! We were only in Richmond 3 nights and ate here two, so that says enough about how great it was. The real difference maker was Naseeb. He made our experience memorable and we will be back next time we are in town! If you live in Richmond or the area it is a must try.

From the moment we walked in I wanted to like this place - great atmosphere and fun cocktail menu. Things started off great with delicious apps before party quickly going down hill. Service was slow - 15 min gap between 2 drinks that were ordered at the same time, 1 glass of wine that was never delivered, and we had to ask 7 times for our water to be refilled. After the main course finally arrived 2 dishes were cold and the rice was undercooked. We had a large group (9 people) and understand that can cause a few problems but this was ridiculous. Food was decent but not sure I will be back.

First time ordered for delivery person whom answered the phone was super friendly assisted me with the menu made suggestions in the end my brother an I were really happy our meal literally melted in my mouth it was worth the time we waited which wasn’t long because our food was hot an delicious,I’ll have pictures the next time we will be ordering again.

The food is really expensive. I paid $30 (including tax and tip) for a singular naan (that was super small), a small bowl of rice and a paneer curry. So quantity wise it was like 1.5 serviings. I would not actually call their food Indian food so quality wise I felt like it was not worth the $30. It seemed to cater non-indians who like indian food. The drinks seem decently priced and I loved the live music

Actually planned on going to JKOGI but they were closed until 5 and I was hangry, this was a match for me on YELP and I tried it on a whim. I’m so glad I did! Max and Nasib were so hospitable and helpful! Max walked us through the menu and everything he recommended was AMAZING! Nasib stopped by our tables to refill water and answered all my burning questions! He gave a brief history of the company and some stops to hit up while we’re in the area! Great great service and even better atmosphere!! Thank you guys!

NAMA was my first experience with Indian cuisine. Even without anything to compare it to; I’d say it was excellent! I was slightly disappointed that the first two entrees I ordered weren’t available. But honestly, it only helped narrow down the handful of options that I had already decided sounded too amazing not to try. The staff was personable and worked together like a well oiled machine. I would definitely recommend NAMA to anyone that is interested in buying me dinner because there is so much more stuff on the menu I want to try. Love Indian food? Try it. Never had Indian food? Try it. And go to NAMA because I’d venture to guess that anywhere else just won’t be as good.

This was by far one of the best meals and restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. The staff was really friendly and helpful in deciding what to try and the food was downright amazing. Authentic flavors with a creative twist, and small plates were wonderful because I wanted to try everything!

Food wasn’t great. Got the lamb chops and rice. Lamb chops barely has a bit of meat on them and one piece was cold. Took forever to get my chicken tikkas but the chicken was moist. Portions are small. The slice of cheesecake was bigger than the portions of food we ordered. My drink didn’t have a drop of alcohol in it even though it was supposed to. I might as well just asked for barely flavored water with ice. The drink was full of cube ice at the bottom and crushed ice ball on top.

I ordered the most basic of indian dishes, Palak Paneer. First off, it was BLAND. No spices at all or even a pinch of salt. Second, the paneer was not paneer at all. Instead of being cheese....it was tofu. I generally love tofu, but I was expecting delicious cheese, and instead received fried tofu chunks. Lastly, the spinach was FROZEN! It tasted just like a frozen pack of creamed spinach. The only redeeming qualities of this meal were the naan and the basmati rice. Lets face it though, if youre messing up rice then theres for real problems.

Really disappointed. Ordered paneer app that was rubbery, the chicken Tikka masala had pools of oil. Service was slow, wasnt temperature hot or spicy. Im 100% sure the garlic Naan was formerly frozen trader Joes. The rice was flavorless. The one decent item was the cauliflower. Go to any other Indian restaurants in town. Tulsi, lemon, Anoka, leija. ANY OTHER.

The Mango Rasam Tequila may be the best cocktail in Richmond. The food is excellent as well, perfectly cooked and spiced, and the atmosphere is dope. But it was the Mango Rasam Tequila that truly blew my mind.

The food just did not impress though. :-/ The appetizer and curry I had didnt have the kick and blend of spices you expect from Indian cuisine. The veggies were also not cooked properly. My partner and I talked about giving it another shot and decided we most likely wouldnt. They are new and possibly still figuring things out- so mayyyybe we would.

Taste was not okay according to prices. Quantity was like two spoons and the dish is finished. Customer service was also not okay. They said they were out of Naan. I don’t know which Indian restaurant is out of Naan. They were suppose to bring rice with our curry pot they dint bring it and said kitchen is closed. I said it was fine but if I am paying high price like such they are suppose to offer discount on their side as they were not able fulfill the dish.This is expensive restaurant, and it is made for the people who is not Indian. We arrived 30 minutes before closing, starving after a brutal 6 hour drive. We were greeted with a smile and stellar service notwithstanding the late hour. The vegetarian selections were plentiful, delicious, and beautiful, as were the cocktails. We’ll be back!

Excellent food and service, but over-priced for what is served. A small plate of lamb chops or scallops cost $14.00, but the plates only had two pieces on them plus sauce. Noise level was quite high, so we had to raise our voices to have a conversation.

If you dont know curry or experienced good Indian food then you probably think this place is good. No Indian beer available when we visited, not good its like going in an Irish bar that does not sell Guinness. The spice/heat level was presented by the waitress as Medium, Hot and Very Hot, the chicken curry pot I ordered had no spicy heat at all it was the base sauce good flavors but not even on the spice scale never mind medium the fries we ordered were spicy hot which made up for the lacking curry. The worst thing about the curry was the use of dark thigh meat and not white chicken breast, at $18 for the curry I expect quality tender chicken. The garlic naan was flat cold and greasy looked like it had come from a Walmart freezer and not a clay oven. Overall not good.

Nasib offered an experience unlike I’ve had at any other restaurant in Richmond. Tldr; good but there are better Indian options in Richmond (read below)My first experience here was of awe... The food was some of the best I had in Richmond but all that changed in in our most recent visit.While the food was still cooked well, the taste and quantity left a lot to be desired.The shahi paneer was ‘tangy’ the exact opposite of what ‘shahi’ is supposed to represent: creamy tomato.The chicken kababs were 4 measly pieces for $10 as a starter.The cocktails were the weakest I have ever tasted $14 for a cocktail with barely a hint of alcohol.While the lower level seating is nice and rustic, the upstairs seating feels and looks tacked on and half baked.

It is a shame that this restaurant is a work in progress, with still some distance to cover. Nothing really clicks and the value proposition isnt. I was in restaurant turn-around in Va. Beach and a sign a restaurant is not doing well is when they attempt to control food-costs by serving portions far below the prices charged. But I digress, lets start from the beginning.We were greeted promptly by our waiter and a trainee. It was awkward in that the waiter said nothing about the trainee. A Good evening, my name is Bartholomew and I will be your server tonight. This is Ludmilla, she will be shadowing me as she is in training might have left Ludmilla feeling a bit more comfortable. I asked who she was (even though I knew) and my wife complimented her on her necklace. That was probably the high point of our service. It was happy hour so I ordered a beer ($2 off normal price). Now this is odd. I received a glass about half full of beer, no bottle so I assumed it was draught. The next beer was off happy hour and I got the whole bottle! This is that penny-wise-pound-foolish thing Nama does. I would have been better off just paying full price during happy hour.You are best off ordering the small plates for what little value their is it is to be found on that part of the menu. I love Naan and theirs isnt that great but keep in mind when you order it you only get one, kind off chincy. My daughter ordered fries and they were delicious, but the souffle cup was only about 1/4 full of dipping sauce, again trying to save money but pissing off the customer. If we could get the waiters attention to bring more you would think that would resolve the problem. At this point I would advise to bring your flare gun as it is the only way you will get a server to come to your table. The Lamb Samosa was great and they supplied enough chutney this go-around. Our guests dinner was served with rice and was very undercooked. In the end she addressed the issue with the manager and they removed it from the check since the replacement serving of rice was also undercooked. Now, this is and Indian restaurant and they cant get rice right? I ordered the Shrimp Moilee and was almost speechless when I removed the lid from the pot. I was expecting a bubbling pot of curried shrimp full to the brim. What it appeared to be was another table did not finish theirs and Nama decided to recycle the leftovers as a freshly prepared meal. The pot was about 1/4 full with only 4 medium shrimp, and it was lukewarm at best. 4 shrimp, a 1/2 cup of sauce, $18! I could go on about other rediculous methods Nama employs to control food costs but I have to get to the gym. Despite the lack of service a added $8 to the 20% gratuity they add on parties 6 and larger. I waited tables to pay for college and maybe this kid is too.Some of the food is delicious, the desserts also very good, the restaurant itself is well appointed, and now that I know what is good I would return and know how not to get ripped-off. This restaurant, I would have given my eyetooth to consult and turn-around as their is so much they need help with, but I am retired now and dont believe I can find my flare gun, or if I still have enough flares to make it worthwhile.

The curry pots are absolutely fantastic. Nama is by far my favorite place to grab Indian cuisine in Richmond. The Chicken Tikka Masala is to DIE for and the naan is always fresh and soft. I am hoping our experience is simply the growing pains of a new restaurant.Food - hit or miss. We ordered 5 small plates for 2 people. 1) papri chaat was outstanding. Beautifully balanced flavors and textures and great portion 2) onion and eggplant pakora was horrible, very oily the onion pakora was burnt on the outside and raw (batter dripping) on the inside. 3) the fried cauliflower was mediocre it was not crispy and the spicy level was very high (and we have incredibly high spice tolerence, it is hard to believe average american palates would do well) 4. Chicken roll was excellent the chicken was succulent well spiced and great flavors 5) masala dosa simply never arrived no explanation, but we were charged on our bill.Service ‐ Really horrible. When we arrived it was 5pm (4 other tables were seated) and it took us 1.5 hours to get a cocktail 4 small plate dishes. My plate and utensils were taken and never replaced. After waiting 25 mins for our last dish (which never came) our waitress just arrived with the check. No opportunity to order dessert. When we pointed out our final dsh never arrived yet it was on our bil she didnt ask if we wanted it she simply said I I will take it off and walked away. No apology or explanation or acknowledgement.Some of the dishes really showed promise the decor was lovely, but to succeed there will have to be some major tweaks in the kitchen and waitstaff and closer attention paid to the dining experience.

The bartender makes sitting at the bar really fun. Alexa was a great conversationalist and the wings were killer to boot!

I wouldnt recommend to anyone based on our experience. Loud, crowded, infrequent wait service (the waitress checked on us maybe every 20 minutes), good food but small portions for the price. If your server tells you that medium spice is actually not very hot dont trust them. I followed this recommendation as a mild-palated person and was left with a tingling face for 15 minutes waiting for a water refill. The food arrived in a baffling order - my husbands entree arrived first and they just put our order of naan in front of me, then my entree a while later, finally they brought our second order of naan with the check at the end of our meal. Save yourself some trouble if youre craving higher-end Indian food and drive to Lehja in Short Pump - it is excellent and well worth the extra distance.

Alexa our bartender was attractive, funny and knowledeable about the interesting things on the cocktail menu. This was an awesome atmosphere, service was amazing, and most importantly the food was fantastic. It’s a modern twist on Indian food- such awesome flavor in everything that we ordered. Our server, Vivy, was incredible - and had great food suggestions. Our favorite was the lamb somosas and the chicken tikka. Cocktails are very good- i got the Rupee Flip, which id recommend. The manager and the chef both came in to check on us too which was pretty cool as well. We will definitely be back!

Our bar was pretty low as we dont get authentic food here in states. Still, this place managed to disappoint us badly.They claim appetizers are small plates which makes it easier to share and try out more options. In practice, you are just paying too much for tiny amount of food. For instance, Samosa chat that costs $7 is actually a single samosa thats store bought.Food doesnt taste good. Forget the Indian taste. Its not even cooked properly. Veggies are half cooked in Briyani. Fries are oily and soggy. Oil drips from pappad. Briyani is full of tomatoes and the rice is a bit hard.Guess theyre targeting folks that will pay more and dont know what Indian food tastes like. Its very disappointing experience that cost the 4 of us $150.

There was an attempt... we came in around 8 and took seats at the bar. We ordered drinks, a couple of small plates, and a curry pot. My cocktail was inventive and tasty (enough for me to order a second as long as I was waiting and Im not really one to partake of craft cocktails) but after 50 minutes of waiting for our food and seeing everyone around us who had arrived well after we did eating theirs we asked what was up. Bartender went to check and said they were really backed up because they only had two stations for making curry pots (which I kind of thought was their signature thing) and she couldnt say it wouldnt be another 50 minutes for ours to come around, no mention of the small plates. Right around the hour mark I politely declined the invitation to make a reservation to come back at a later date, paid for our drinks, and went down the way to a bustling Cobra Cabana, where I had a plate of carne asada fries in front of me in ~15 minutes. Poor guy who ordered takeout at the bar before we did was still standing around waiting. I really wanted to like you, Nama, but I was too hungry for all that mess.

In short: “ When you dine at Rockefeller Center in New York at Bar Sixty Five, eat 2 dishes and get 2 drinks and amazing View, total check = $70. When you dine at Nama eat 5 dishes and get no drinks, total check = $70. And irony is at Nama you will still be hungry.”The quality of food was good but portions is so less that it does not justify the price of dishes. Like Chole poori was great but when you see a big cup of chole and a poori so small that you could barely have 2 bites.The most expensive Indian restaurant in US. Its expensiveness exceeds even from a michelin star Indian restaurant Junoon.Super expensive restaurant.

Ambiance is super good, but food tastes pathetic.. I do not even call it as a authentic Indian food. The one named Briyani which wad served worst ever i had in my entire life. None of dishes we tried had traces of indian food.Oily and soggy fries, half cooked frozen veggies in briyani, very oily puppadSamosa chat is way overpriced. $7 for a mashed samosa that’s store bought?Overall, everything is overpriced and we won’t dine here even if it’s cheap.

If you’re looking for something new and delicious in Richmond, this is IT. I met a girlfriend here for dinner, and we split 3 small plates, a curry pot, naan, and 2 desserts. Needless to say, we left in blissful food comas. Everything we tried was flavorful and cooked perfectly. My favorite small plate was the Palak Chaat - so yummy with crispy spinach! The Chicken Tikka was amazing, and the naan is freshly made in house. I would also suggest checking out the cocktail menu! I’ll definitely be back to try more of their food and beverage offerings. Our service was exceptional! The waitress was knowledgeable, prompt, and happy, and the free valet parking was a great perk!
