I was sad to hear that the owner has passed away. He was a nice man and we enjoyed going to Ruchita regularly over the years. Unfortunately, I dont think I will be in a rush to return after the changes, Ruchita was welcoming, unique and great value for money. The changes have made it a place without character, weekday deals no longer exist, you can only get drinks from bottles, a small bottle of coke is £3, I could get a large glass of coke for almost the same price before, portions are smaller, the salad that comes in a small ramekin is a complete joke, so you will pay more for your meals and food. No plate warmers, this made a difference to the meal before. The service is not as good, slow and not as attentive as before. No worth the visit anymore. Sad as I loved the old Ruchita.

We visited for the first time for a family meal and have to say experience is on point. The star dishes on the menu we highly recommend to try is the boneless fish and garlic mushrooms dishes amongst the staple curries! Thanks to the staff and their hospitality very classy atmosphere plus at the end the meal we tried their cocktail of the month - the exclusive Pegu club 😀

Dreadful samosas. I picked up some samosas on my way past this eve. Very quick service for my takeaway order, which was great, but when I got home I was very disappointed. Dry lamb filling with hardly any seasoning and a few peas in filo pastry - far removed from authentic Indian samosas. Only visit if you’ve had one too many drinks, for a poor imitation of real Indian food - avoid if you want anything even close to authentic.

We have ordered tandoori roti, chicken madras and chicken kebab. Tandoori roti is very hard. chicken pieces in chicken madras is not cooked with tasted very sweet. We got some meat instead of chicken kebab. When we called the restaurant to give feedback, the manager was very rude and told they can’t do anything about it and they didn’t even apologised. These people are so unprofessional and the food here tastes so bad. Please don’t order from here.

A little sad to see the changes that bring additional noise back from the hard floor and makes more for the modern casual feel of many Resturant Chains these days. Prices have increased a tad by stealth as to be expected given the long Closure but no midweek temping meal deals nor any novalties that ensure the customer feels he must come back soon. We will continue to pop in hoping the new folks take on board what we are hearing as the Ruchita is convienient and still provides good food. All the best. I&A

Last night my friend and I went back to our favourite Ruchita Indian restaurant and we absolutely loved our meal.We we greeted nicley by Mr Raz and his colleagues, we had starters and main meals. Our food was beautifully served, fresh and tasty. I recommend meat samosas which are just mouthwatering. Our mains arrived literally with the steam, the presentation was lovely too. I tried lamb korma which was very good as the meat was so tender. We shared as light as a custom Naan bread which was vey good and it can only find in Ruchita 😀Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our meal and we will go back ,Mr Raz make sure everyone have mask which make more comfortable and very important at this Covid time, so thanks to Ruchita .also thanks Jubi for free drinks on the house .Thank you all for all your wonderful work in the kitchen and on the floor of this lovely restaurant.

You know that scene at the end of Ratatouille where Anton Ego; the food critic tastes Remy’s dish and he has this epic flashback that transports him back to his childhood? That’s what happened to me last night at the Ruchita…I grew up in Earlswood in the 80’s and 90’s and ate there frequently, so go ahead and call me biased. But I have moved many times since then, further and further away to raise a family. I’ve found some good Indian restaurants in that time, but in my mind they’ve always been lacking that “je ne sais quoi”. I still order from different ones in my local town all the time, giving them each a chance (and another and another…) to be THE one. My local.Well last night, whilst tearing apart what looked to be a diamond encrusted piece of garlic naan and mopping up my wife’s chicken tikka dansak with it, I was struck…. flavour! It’s FLAVOUR!Every dish, EVERY DISH was punchy and loud and delicious... Dripping with flavour. I could see how the garlic naan was going to taste before I put it in my mouth. I knew something magical was about to happen!Perhaps some people don’t like too much flavour, or perhaps some restaurants simply skimp on the ingredients to make them go further, I don’t know. What I can tell you is, that if you like tasty food… I mean proper tasty, then get down to the Ruchita and try it for yourself. There’s also a fresh, calm, laid back atmosphere too, so it was such a lovely visit and the perfect venue for Mummy & Daddy’s date night. After all, it even says it on the wall….“Ruchita is family”

Terrible. Tried to over-charge us by £39. Rudest waiter Ive ever seen.Went here to take advantage of the eat out to help out scheme. Bill came to £67.50 for 2 people, 2 mains, 1 starter, 4 poppadums 1 soft drink and 2 pints. Clearly wrong. When queried this with the waiters, they were immediately stand off. Eventually it came to light the £19.50 discount had been added on to the bill instead of deducting, resulting in them trying to over-charge us by £39. When eventually going to pay the correct amount of £28.50, the waiter put down another bill which when my partner went to read, the waiter was rude, saying Thats mine. Leave it. to him even though it looked like he was giving us a corrected bill. He gave me the card machine without letting me see the charge and when asked to see the charge he was very rude again.I feel they made this error on purpose to try and get more money from us. Not once did they apologies for their oversight. The food was okay.

We was not the only people told to sit outside why we wait for a free blue despite booking. Bossman said it wasn’t is fault yet they were the ones over booking? When we get in not only is it completely packed no one is observing social distancing. Bossman kept getting up close to us all close and touching us as well as others. Be aware they also get you drunk so they can over charge you which has happened multiple times!

I have great memories of this restaurant, however my most recent visit was very disappointing. Food was great but the £10 a head banquet deal is not what it seems at all! The leaflet states what is included and there are parts on the leaflet online and in the restaurant which state exclusions apply e.g under mains so you know to ask which ones arent included in the deal. However, under others like tea and coffee for example there is not that note, so you assume any tea or coffee is included and they dont even have the courtesy to tell you if its not included when you order it! I am always happy to pay for good food and drink but its very upsetting being conned out of money by a restaurant that has previously exceeded expectations. What initially looks like a good £20 for two deal can easily turn into £35+ all because they refuse to tell you the exclusions and expect you to guess! Will not be returning.

Shockingly rude staff, and quite dirty looking if thats not too unfair. Spotted a fair few times some nose picking, and coughing into bags they were putting food into. Hate to know what happens when theyre not in view! This aside, the rudeness was unbelieveable. How I saw then treat a young family with a baby was horrific. The family left soon after arriving. Didnt want to stay and eat. I wish we had too. Food really wasnt great. It was once a few months ago, but before that not great. Waiters and service was 10/10. But definetly not authentic Indian. We ordered two curries, one pilau rice and one peshwari naan. Took 45mins and the resturant wasnt even at half capacity. The butter chicken was actually a chicken jalfrezi with tomatoes with a big blob of butter on top. The peshwari naan was the smallest I had ever seen. It was smaller than the average sized poppodams. Everything we ordered lacked salt. My wife and I had to really pile the salt on for there to be any flavour to the curry (were not ones to usually have salt on the tableside). Owner was very nice and going around every table frequently to make sure diners were happy and if there was anything they needed. When I complained about the butter chicken the waiter was very polite and even offered complimentary drinks and deserts at the end but we kindly declined. Excellent service, excellent layout, terrible food!

I dont think its fair to review on one visit but my visits here vary. I do enjoy the food no doubt and I originally came because of the relaxed environment and being only 5 minutes from us but there always seem to be one thing that sticks out. I was born in redhill and Ruchita has always there so I like to support the businesses in my area.Myself and my husband are both asian/indian looking and from my many experiences on visits I find that we are not really treated with the same courtesy as others, maybe because we arent english and we choose not to drink alcohol I dont really know.. they probably dont bother with us because we dont do big spending on drinks.. it seems like we get always sat at the corner with a rushed service and no smile. I even remember a time where we were sat in the far corner and around us were 3 english couples. The waiter went round to ask everyone if they are okay and completely missed us out ( they must have took us for the waiters)A select few of the waiters are very good and I always will tip them. ( Bald guy with glasses, hands down the best)One of my worst visits I tested the theory and actually tipped £20 on top on my bill despite the cold service and I saw the waiter go back to his boss (huge guy with the beer belly, always moody) and I saw the surprise in their faces. I think they just look at us like we are stingy asian people and we wont spend out on drinks etc which isnt the case at all but obviously we are not worth a good service like others. After this visit I told my husband despite the lovely food I dont really want to go back there simply because I want a nice experience when I go to dinner like all others and cant be bothered to be treated like the way we have been, its very uncomfortable. We now prefer to make the travel into london to get a more authentic range of different foods and a much nicer service.
