Yogmaya Temple, also Jogmaya temple, is a Hindu temple Shakti Peetha dedicated to the goddess Yogmaya, also considered to be a sister of Krishna as she took avatar as Vindhyavasini, and situated in Mehrauli, New Delhi, India, close to the Qutb complex.

One of the oldest temples in Delhi. We liked the place. Not too much crowded, so more place for meditation.

Historical importance of this place cant be denied. The place is peacefull and have alot to be learned about. If you visit Mehrauli in search of history this is the place you should not skip at any cost. The ambience is amazing. Its connection with qutub sahab dargah makes it a symbol for communal harmony. Parking facility is available right in front of the mandir just Rs 10 per hour

There were 21 Hindu temples in the Mehrauli made by the Anangpal Tomar, the rajput king of Tanwarvansh of Delhi.

In 12th-century Jain scriptures, Mehrauli place is also mentioned as Yoginipura, after the temple. The temple is believed to be built by the Pandavas, at the end of Mahabharatawar. Mehrauli is one of the seven ancient cities that make up the present state of Delhi. The temple was first renovated during the rule of Mughal Emperor Akbar II (1806–37) by Lala Sethmal.The temple lies 260 yards from the Iron Pillarin the Qutb complex,and within the Lal Kotwalls, the first fortress citadel of Delhi, constructed by the Tomar/Tanwar Rajput King Anangpal I around AD 731 and expanded by King AnangPal II in the 11th century who also constructed Lal Kot.

Very calm temple.. I just found out this temple because I was told this is an ancient historical temple where Lord Krishnas sister name as yogmaya and mahamaya situated(live). People also say about this temple that Lord shree Krishnas mama name as kans throgh little bijali the other name is Maya to land(earth) very brutally. Then ancient people found that and made a beautiful temple in that place where she fall down as a yogmaya mandir.. every person can fulfill his or her wants(manokamna) by making knots of chunnis.

Ancient Temple of Mahabharata age as mentioned in Puran & Upnishads.Temple is surrounded by illegal occupancy, because of government negligence trespassers havent left any place for god even in temple compound.

Yogmaya temple is located in Mehrauli, New Delhi. It is dedicated to the goddess Yogmaya. According to history, there were 27 temples which were destroyed by Mehmood Ghazni and Mamluks. Only this temple was left untouched and pilgrims can pray here.During the Navratri puja, the Yogmaya temple is visited by many devotees. The Yogmaya idol of black stone is placed in the marble wall 2 feet wide and 1 foot deep. The idol is decorated with sequined fabrics. There are two pankhaas that are suspended from the roof of the temple room. In mythological stories, yogmaya was the sister of God Shri Krishna. She was the same child who was replaced at the place of Lord Krishna on his birth. Kansa, Devaki’s brother, tried to kill her but she vanished quickly predicting her death. So, she is “Maya” and an incarnation of goddess Durga.There is a water body in the Yogmaya temple premises called Anangtal Baoli which is a “johad” or pond. There is a garland of lush green trees around this “tal”. This was built by King Anangpal Tomar. The Yogmaya temple is as old as the period of Mahabharata. It is believed that the Pandavas built it. Samrat Vikramaditya Hemu, a Rajput king, had reconstructed this temple when in ruins. In 1827, another entrance hall and a sanctum sanctorum were constructed. This is a place where the devotees offer flowers and sweet meat to the diety. “PhoolwalonkiSair” or “Annual walk of flowers” is a festival associated with this place which started in the year 1812. It is an interfaith festival between Hindu and Muslim which is very popular. This festival commences from the durgah named Qutub Uddin Bakhtiar Kaki in every autumn. A floral pankha is offered to the “yogmaya” deity.
