Indian coffee houses outside Kerala have always been a disappointment for me and this one was no different. The food was salty, even the sambar and chutney. Chutney was served cold straight out from the fridge. The masala in the masala dosa was yellow (we go to Indian coffee house for red masala).Out of all the things we had coffee was the only solace. They had pictures of Gandhi, Modi and Nehru but not AKG.
The worst dosa and coffee Ive ever had in life. The other reviews are a lie and very miss leading. They have mutton dosa on the menu for some reason and tried it out of curiosity but it was a huge mistake. The place is not that expensive but I would rather take money to eat here. The ambience is not good either it just feels like an old college canteen.
Great place to enjoy food in shimla. You can experience that old retro vibe of 60s. But the food is now bit overpriced (not all but few items specifically). But all in all its a nice place to have food.
Famous very old vintage coffee house restaurant chain on mall street of ShimlaService is good but infrastructure is degrading with time floor and tables are clean but furniture is not well maintained, if not preserved properly old legacy could be destroyedLocal authorities should be concerned other international fast food chains are taking over this one of few remaining Indian food chains on main street
Indian coffee house is always best. Its value will be double if its in Shimla... Enjoy your coffee....☕
Its not anywhere close to the ones you are used to in South india. Food is pretty mediocre. Cleanliness is not good
One of the oldest restaurant in Shimla. Food served here is not fresh. Specially the battar used for idly and dosa was not fresh. Got stomach infection after eating from this restaurant.
I had coffee and dosa there, the coffee was not good at all but the dosa was delicious. Overall it is a good restaurant.
The vidit to Coffee House was old memory and the service and oreparations were nice as usual. I love Coffee House
Good Heritage Place to catch up with Friends at The Mall ShimlaBrought back lots of old memories of my days at Shimla while at St Edwards in the seventiesA must visit place for South Indian dishes Dosa Idli Vada to be topped up with CoffeeBest Wishes
So I visited this place 3 weeks back. It was pretty crowdy like there were a lot of people so I thought the food might be really good, so, I went there, charges seemed pretty nominal for a tourist place restaurant.Ordered:Masala dosa: 3/10 I think dosa was still edible, the sambar was kind of weirdHot coffee: 2/10Cold coffee: 4/10 It was 70% water 30% milk with slight sweetnessI am glad I didnt order a lot of food otherwise would have wasted most of it. People are nice though, they greet you with warmth but i wont prefer to have the above listed things from the place in future. 😅
Its a nice place to hang out with friends and family.. food is good..
Really heard a lot about it but experience was not good in shimla.... they made sambar in masoor dal (orange) 🤐No comment further
Amazing place for quick breakfast and tea coffee at reasonable rate. One can also buy filter coffee powder.
Truly good food at very reasonable prices like in 2021 you can get food at such low price is like a daydreamThe taste and the service are very great and it’s usually crowded here not that touch find this place empty it won’t be the cold coffee is amazing and the paneer pakoras are really good also the chowmien here is a dish that I loved to eatYou’ll find a good crowd here mostly people with political backgroundYou’ll have a good time here with sasta and good food
Its a peaceful place, the foods good. Its not really a place for the youth according to me, I think its more for the elderly people. South Indian food is good here however the taste of the food is not consistent.
Very nice place to have breakfast or brunch. Waiters are very soft spoken. Food is tasty and that too at a very reasonable price.
Old ambianceFamiliar sitting placesSame smell of filtered coffeeFew of antique posters on the wallAre Only attraction....They have not improved upon their Menu and dishes , dishes that totally lack the ability to tingle the palate.
Has always been my favorite place. Vada is must try. Service is super quick. Place is very warm and friendly.
Nice and decent south indian found in Shimla
Indian coffee house is one of my favourite destination in Shimla. Great food at such reasonable prices. I mean where do you get such amazing coffee at 60 rupees!? Totally recommend this place. One of the most authentic places in Shimla.
The Aura is good, but food - I wont suggest to have lunch or dinner here.. Better for 1time coffee bread butter. The Food Or Beverages are not worth the rate list.
Average place. We ordered mutton dhosa and mutton cutlet. Though Mutton dhosa was good, we didnt like the mutton cutlet.
Yet another food joint if you are a food lover and find yourself at Mall RdShimla. Some 5 to 6 varieties of Dosa, must try the mutton dosa, if you are non-veg and others and 7 to 8 varieties of coffee. Give it a try . Nice place to give your tiring legs rest and empty stomach Some lovely and hygienic food !
I have visited this famous coffee house many times. It is famous specially for South Indian Food. Service is very quick and staff is hospitable here. Best pace for south Indian Food in Shimla.
Totally government kind of food...Coffe was like coffee powder in hot water..Just making fool by their name
Not upto the mark anymore. Cold dosas and wierd sambar. The quality has dropped drastically.
Coffee house is a ideal place where one can have fresh eatables and relax their moods in a comfortable atmosphere
They have best coffee ☕ & offers dosa, many more food at cheap rates. Cheapest & Oldest hotel on shimla mall road
Why they famous?Only for retro feelingsTaste of coffee very bad panni wali coffee 50 rupees waste of money
Indian coffee houseIts not a name its Heritageits daily routine of shimla people .Having a big space for 100+ peopleSouth indian food deliciousDosa specially masala dosa .And a hot coffee worth half of hundred .They also gave your coffee powder . U can buy in half kg or 1kg
Full authentic and classic. want to get some new experience so must come
Please dont go there. You will regret a lot. Worst hotel in Shimla.
This place is filled with nostalgia, from the old ads on the wall to the furniture to the staff and thier turbans. This is a hangout for people on a budget and by saying this I am in no way devaluing the establishment. It is a super cosy, comfortable and economical place to hang out. Try the dosa and coffee here and enjoy the view of shimla from its window.
South Indian is good..old style but cosy place to sit n talk, especially in Winters
Economical & best restaurant in Shimla. No menu will be served here. One has to choose from the the menu/rate list hanging over the cash counter near entrance. One should try samber vara, any type of dosa and coffee. You will definately Enjoy it.
Quite average food. Very crowded and noisy. Masala Dosa taste is below average. Sambhar and chutney are of no taste. This place is costly as compared to other restaurant.
I would have given zero star if it was possible. Totally tasteless masala dosa, informed the waiter as well as the manager but no action. Fully charged, rather a bit extra. Coffee was cold. DO NOT go by the pedigree it has. Wish it had closed as was in the news
Ok. Coffee houses are kn general quite dull...but still it retains some charm..coffee is not too bad..and its a bit relaxed...
Quite Costly, But you can enjoy the place and food there. Near to Shimla Mall Road, You can enjoy the breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Nice Staff.
Old place, nostalgic with great coffee. A place loved by all Shimla
To have best south Indian visit this place.. Youll get the best fillter coffee..☕☕
Taste of food is good. Espresso coffee is just awesome. Old look will take back in time.
So disappointed with the food & hygiene. The place only runs on its legacy and name. Its always crowded so waiting is normal. The food is served in dirty crockery. I had a sandwich and I urge that no one ever orders it. The south Indian for which it is known is also bland and cold and tasteless. I also felt the food is not freshly prepared. The signature coffee is the only decent thing on the menu, but not worth a visit.
This is a great up going and maintained Indian Coffee House, Shimla.Have a good view. It’s just at the end of the Mall Road. They attract a good tourist crowd.Food is good! Love the cold coffee & french fries 🍟Price are really affordable.Staff people are really nice 👍Like the ambience & vibes of the place 🥰Their Connaught Place one is really bad!
This is the one amongst the best coffee house from ICH that Ive visited until so far. Their delicious snacks including Dosa, Mutton dishes and coffee are the ones that must be tried. This is also the iconic restaurant from Shimla where our beloved prime minister Modi had visited on his trip to the Shimla.
We went to the ICW for their famous coffee, but the coffee was not that good. Overall rating is average in my view.
A very good place to have evening coffee..and an age old coffee place in Shimla
The food, the ambience and the service are just amazing. But let me tell you if you happen to be in solan then do visit Himalayan coffee house and then draw the comparisons.
Best Plase to memorize your old gold days.Noodles in our old chowmein style and flavour.Must order cold coffee...
Good south Indian food as compared to other restaurants..you can go for it
Just like any other Indian Coffee House. Ive been to a few of them in different cities in India and this Shimla one is iconic in its own way too.The place is historic, serves decent coffee/tea and food items. Ambience is just like old times. They have sitting facilities on two stories.Although I was disappointed to find there is no way one can have outer landscape views (small windows).
Good place to eat and have coffee ,prices are better than rest of the shimla, service is quite good.
Best place to enjoy South indian delicacies in Shimla. Breakfast to dinner the outlet is open. Tray coffee is a true delight.
NYC and excellent ambiance... Keep it up
Nice place.... Must try vada sambhar... Its awesome
The most cost efficient yet quality efficient place to have food. Coffee is still served great, food is still served delicious. And the best part is it opens up earlier than all other cafes in vicinity.
Old and vintage coffee house, it feels like old india era type.. Southern indian food and all the coffees available there.
I will prefer a local restaurant than this place ,Quality and price both are not good .
Awesome place to satisfy your appetite & hunger with delicious food 😋
The oldest café in Shimla, the Indian Coffee House hasn’t changed a bit in the four plus decades that it has been part of Shimlas cafe scene. Always crowded, despite the many interesting options in the Mall Road area, Indian Coffee House retains its old world charm and a visit is sure to bring in nostalgia of times past.Whatever the food, a hot cup of steaming filter coffee is a must-have. The south-Indian snacks especially the Masala Dosa and the Sambhar Idli are delicious in Shimlas cool climate. A unique innovation of the place is its Mutton Dosa with a mix of minced mutton and onion masala stuffing, which tastes good with or without a serving of sambhar. The Indian Coffee House is an ideal place for a good chat over coffee, or to just hang out after a stroll around the Mall, Shimla. Its a great stop for light evening snacks too. A mildly spicy vegetable cutlet or a mutton cutlet can be enjoyed with a cup of coffee or chai or maybe just a simple French toast with an omelet or crunchy fried finger chips.BEST FORFilter Coffee, Mutton Dosa, Masala DosaALSO SERVESMutton/Vegetable Cutlet, Idli Sambar, Sambhar VadaSeating: AvailableTiming: 9 AM - 9 PMADDRESSDC Office Road, The Mall, Shimla, Himachal Pradesh 171001
If you come and expect very tasty, that will not happen.Coffee is with average taste.
A good and Budget friendly food available only at Indian Coffee House. A retro look gives you feel of 80s restaurant. They Specialist in South indian food. Dosa, Bread toast and sandwiches are the regular selling items. Ignore chinese food items as you disappointed if you ordered. Not giving 5 star as their service is not up to expectations as they took some time for the order.
Good place for family tym .....tasty food .....in good budget
Indian Coffee House was established in 1958 after India independence. It has amazing menu and very reasonable price. Its has the consistent taste of the dishes from the day it started, The first Prime minister Mr.Jawaharlal Nehru and current Primester Mr.Narendra Modi has been their to have their special coffee. It is situated near Mall road of Shimla#Indiancoffeehouse#Shimla#
Place is very famous. There are many types of coffee available there. So dont say just coffee otherwise you will get only hot water coffee. You need to specify about coffee... It happened with me 😂...so be specific about your choice
Awesome and authentic place for South Indian dishes and Coffee .. Rates are very economical... In the heart of the City... Mall Road..Near GPO, Shimla
This coffee house in located main road on mall road. This coffee house gives you vibes of 90s coffee house . One of the most visited place by tourist either they are student or foreigners. If you ate going to shimla then you can visit at least one time for breakfast 🥞.We were ordered dosa , uttapam, butter toast and filter coffee ☕️.Overall experience was awesome with 🇮🇳 indian coffee house 🏡!Jai Hind !
Very crowded place and service is not upto the mark. Good place for coffee ☕ lover.
Poor service and unhealthy food. People were vommiting there...Dont go please...
