The vegetable dish has SO MUCH OIL that I had a terrible time eating it. The kachori dal kachori was so hard that I had to throw it away. Lastly, the papdi chaat tasted so bad that after a few bites I said goodbye. The raita was too watery for me. The roti was fine and the achar was fine. I wasted my money and I dont think Ill be going back there.
Sometimes the tea taste straight up like water..even though after its burning hot temperature..you realize it later as usual.
This used to be my go-to place once a week. I had a bad experience multiple times before covid. The man in the front would just completely ignore me (female) and take care of people that came after me ( always a male customer ). Typical indian old fashion disrespect for females. I have female friends and family with the same experience. Recently (8/2021) I gave it a shot again and called up for dosas. Female on phone said we dont make dosas. Yet I am infront of their business right now where there is a huge picture of dosas on front. I ordered dosas from there everytime. I loved having the food but bad customer service can drive your best customers away.
Neat and Clean. Had amazing Chole Bhaturas and Amritsari Kulcha.
Menu prize is different charging more! Staffs are good except the owner!! Food is not so fresh! From my experience honest restaurant is the best for food ! Good quality and good price !
Surya: it was my favorite sweets and vegetarian desi restaurants, I usually visit here for desi food and sweets but specially I visit when I crave for gaajer halwa ( carrots sweets) I love it and usually they serve good but today I didn’t get good experience I got food for dinner and in dessert I order gaajer halwa but this time it was not according to my expectations there was not any nuts (almonds, pistachio, etc.) in gaajer halwa so it make me nut, even though she charged extra tax too, It was ok if they maintained quality I wanted to visit and talk to owner but don’t wanted to waste more time😞
Good quality. But so expensive.
Good place for Indian food.Great food, Vegetarian, Nice south indian food, reasonably priced, Nice prontha, quantity is good, sweets are fine, its neat and clean, staff is nice, owners are nice.......... everything was good until Paneer pakoda!!!Man the worst Paneer Pakoda in town.I thought Usha made the worst, but wait until you try Sureya’s. I had it after 30-40 min when i got home and ohhh boy,it was like eating tiny rocks and pebbles.Really disappointed.Way toooo much batter on the pakoda and they get stiff really fast. Can’t chew them after few mins. Check the pic.Just a quick suggestion to the cook, please try Haldirams frozen Paneer pakoda. Now if a frozen pakoda packed 1-3 months ago can be this soft and taste this good, why your fresh Pakoda is so disappointing after 30-40mins??Again everything else was fine.
Awesome and flavorful food, I like the atmosphere the place has, and the staff members were friendly. Will definitely visit here when I’m around.
All good 👍 nice 👌 place 👍 food is good 👍
My favorite places for dosas and samosas in all of Queens and Nassau. Ive tried samosas at many other places in both counties but none compare to Surya. I love this place!
Best Samosas in the east coast, minus my mothers.Pretty good tea most of the time.Super good sweets, though, I cant have much sugar.Other stuff vegetables etc way toooo spicy for me.Their Parathas are not wheat parathas at all, and not made by their non authentic help.... not even close... Heck, I make better parathas (really)
Always enjoy coming here especially for the parathas! They make various varieties but we prefer the aloo and mooli parathas. Surya also serves a variety of chaats but sadly I think they are a hit or miss. I have ordered pani puri here on different occasions and when it comes to chaat they lack consistency. I also tried the harabar burger and I think will stick to paratha next time. They do make great amritsari kulcha and chloe if you like punjabi food. Lastly, cannot leave here without trying their gulab jamuns. Best i have had in NY! Surya has an array of mithais and other sweets. We keep coming back because their prices are reasonable and service is good. They can get busy on the weekends so you might have a little wait but definitely worth it.
Order a tray of biryani. Was amazing
Great snacks and tasty foodLove the thali
For vegetarians this is a must go place . Always fresh and good food.
Love the sweets. Amazing tea. Good food.
It is really bad and old food. they need to work and respecting and giving proper well done hot and warm food..
Really nice place for take out. Took some pani puri and dosa to go. Loved their dosa special. Will go back their for that. Also they have many interesting flavor of sweets. Employees are also very friendly. Just have a slight English language barrier.
One of best Gulab jaman in ny
I’ve been coming here for years. Food is out of this world. Always fresh and hot. Best part it’s 100% vegetarian!
Best Indian food so far especially Samosay and Chole Bhaturay
Place is no good. Old foods and wired service.
Better than usha
Good food fast service.
I’ve been going here since I was like 11 I’m 18 now and they food is still amazing
Its too sweet extra extra flavor
One of the best Indian sweets and street food places in NYC.
Food is ok! Not great
Tasty food good service
I like this venue very much. It has a great air. The cuisine is splendid. the service is effective and the crew is polite. The pay is modest. I warmly recommend.
This place is extraordinary and spacious, the meals was yummy and the prices were very affordable. rapidly, effective service and very attentive waiters. Will definitely recommend this spot.
This is a north indian punjabi restaurant, it specializes in Amritsar style kulcha, a stuffed naan.
Sweet jalebi its not good
Very disappointed there papri chat was no good and this was not the first time i am not happy at all. They really need to change it or teach there staff how to make it.
Good, but there is always room for improvement!
Awesome 👌
Please don’t waste your money on their papri chaat unless you want to upset someone
Great Service and friendly staff.
Not good food. Don’t try papri chat and chhole bhature.
Unauthentic Indian food. I go to the restaurant with a mood to take home some nice indian street food.. I ordered Dahi papdi chaat, khasta kachori chaat, Dahi bhalla and small gulab jamun.. and when I go home and ready to eat I was totally disappointed. The Dahi bhalla was hard with mismatch spices. The Dahi papdi tasted like as if you are eating mithi chutney. Khasta kachori was best mediocre. The gulab jamuns were really bad. Overall not an authentic Indian food experience.
The food and sweets r delicious. My friend came over from Cairo(Egypt). We went to get some sweets for his family. Owners both brothers treat us really nice, ask for tea and coffee. We bought sweets and were delicious. I would say the best place to have for sweets. Keep it up!
Excellent food. Healthy and tasty as it should be. Must try!
Good food, however on a recent visit the service was unfortunately pitiful. Was told 2 minutes for 4 samosas ended up waiting almost 25 instead. After i complained a staff member shared a look of annoyance with me while giving me my food after the time.
Would generally avoid coming here. Food is only mediocre in taste. The management is rude. Gentleman sitting at the cash register provides terrible customer service. Looks like he hates working there and as a result provides terrible service. In addition he is chewing tobacco at the desk which is DISGUSTING.
Lovely food.
This place is for Indian snacks and sweets. Quality is reasonably good. Prices are moderate. The staff and service is friendly. Good to go for a quick bite.
I think this sweet shop must be close soon, no fresh and all artificial color and flavor added. Must avoid this shop.
Good food! Good service! Really nice people
Fresh food and the best samosa in town. Be sure to visit.
Good for indian sweets and snacks, on road hillside ave.
Place is clean. Has a variety of snacks and tons of sweet desserts. Nice service.
Punjabi fast food amaze me as always
Right after eating Samosa from here, I ended up having diarrhea, please make things more hygienic..
Good Lunch Menu although the curries could have been better. Service was good. Overall its C+
Food taste great.
We had catering done for a wedding in February for 200 people. We provided all beverages, cups, plates, forks and spoons. The owner fraudulently charged us $5700 for vegetarian food for 300 people. There was no Nan (bread) served to more than half the people. After inquiring at the venue and checking the cameras, we had proof that less than 200 attended. When we went to pay for the catering, he ripped up the invoice and was extremely disrespectful and demanded money. DO NOT EVER GET CATERING AS THEY ARE NOT TRAINED TO HANDLE MORE THAN 100 PEOPLES FOOD. FOOD WAS SHORT AND HORRIBLE SERVICE.Even at the restaurant, the food (cooked vegetables) sits out all day and the food towards the left side is 3 days old and all the way at the right side is apparently made same day yet has a bad sour spoilt taste. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. Karma is its own ways of serving people, I hope they get theirs for robbing us.
Great food. Aloo parantas are large and taste amazing. The sweets are not fresh at all and it would help if the serving staff spoke some English.
No quality
Great place to have a quick meal
This place is awesome the veggie burger is a must. I like it spicy.
They are stingy with their toppings for chaat. They also ignore you if you speak English. Also, they don’t give you back your change. Poor customer service.
Fantastic and tasty food, I like the mood the place has, and the workers were very nice. I will surely come back.
Missing items poor communication when I call them they never help very ridiculous. Very very bad.
Awesome authentic Indian quick munching place...
Had kulcha chola...it was good.
Great Desi Sweets n Snacks.
Excellent vegetarian options.
Must try the plain Golan jamans
Great place for Indian main course food ...!! Just like home made main course food
Punjabi burger soooooo good. Best place in queens
Delicious Samosas always. Very good service
Its a very good indian restaurant,
Good food
Worst staff, worst food. Moreover they serve rotten food when we complaint them against their staff started raising their voice.Don’t go
We did try there vegie choumin that was ridiculous.... don’t try guys ... we wasted money just
Food is very good but extremely bland by Indian standards.
Good food . Quality of food . Good staff thanks
Good quality and fresh food, purely vegan
Extremely horrible customer service. The owner is extremely unprofessional and the restaurant is very dirty. The food is gross and quality is sub-par compared to the competing places nearby. Customer service and attitude in this place is completely unacceptable. Me and my family bought 4 samosas from this place and I got a small tiny ycup of chutney to split amongst 4 samosas. Thats the same amount of chutney if you buy only 1 samosas when I asked for one more cup of chutney the owner argued every penny counts and told me to not come again if I didnt like the policy. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cause. Total garbage.
Sold old and stinky sweets, when went there for exchange the manager and all employees argued with aggressive attitude, no apology and very very bad customer service, we were regular customers but no more. Taste before you buy.
Good Halwa Puri .
Surya has the best lunch options. Apart from lunch surya has best options on menu.
Best #samosa in NYC area.
One of the Best Indian Vegatarian Food Place
Order your samosas ahead of time good spot
The food used to be good in the beginning but now its just bad. The owners are in denial mode about their food.
I like their samosa.
Delicious sweets and clean
Nice friendly people.. clean and not too busy.. good food... extensive selection of sweets
Exellent place for Indian food and sweets
Food was average but service was good
